Pro-CJ lawyers launch witchunt against dissenters

This victimisation campaign began early on in the crisis, and I hope the honorable Ch Justice Iftikhar condemns it.

Bar council moves against ‘pro-govt lawyers’

The NWFP Bar Council has suspended the membership of six lawyers for supporting what it called the unconstitutional action of Gen Pervez Musharraf against the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Speaking at a join conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Fazal Tawab, vice-president of the council, and Badiuzzaman Khan, chairman of its executive committee, condemned the president’s move of filing a reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. They said the case of the lawyers whose membership had been suspended had been forwarded to the disciplinary committee of the bar council for an action against them. The lawyers facing the action were Justice (retd) Mohammad Azam Khan, Muazzam Butt, Habib Qureshi, Mohammad Intikhab Alam of Chamkani, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif and Aminurrehman. The bar council leaders said they had conveyed to the Peshawar High Court Bar Association and all district bar associations to withdraw all facilities from the suspended lawyers “for betraying their community which was struggling for the rule of the law in the country”. They alleged that Gen Pervez Musharraf, who had taken his oath under the 1973 Constitution, had abrogated it and betrayed the nation. They said that the summoning of the Chief Justice to the Army House was a condemnable act. They said the restoration of people’s confidence in the judiciary was the prime duty of the lawyers’ community. They alleged that the rulers were bent upon turning the country into a garrison and create a fake democratic system which had miserably failed to deliver the goods.

Yup, did you not know it was the “agencies” that are behind the CJ-supporting lawyers launching a country-wide witchhunt against their colleagues who don’t support their “principled” stance against the government? :hehe:

Re: Pro-CJ lawyers launch witchunt against dissenters

no one has much to say about this dhandli?
I mean we go on about oh look all lawyers are all in an uproar, while the bar associations crush dissenters who dont want to play ball with the lawyer mobs.

very interesting

Re: Pro-CJ lawyers launch witchunt against dissenters

Fraudz, there are more than 58,000 lawyers in all Pakistan, yet our CJ-supporting lawyer thugs can at best only a muster only a crowd of a couple of thousand in their journalist-thrashing demos. So they are doing a lot of intimidating to "cleanse" their upper echelons of people who disagree with them so they can later stamp out the ordinary wukla folk lower down. When the CJ himself only wants judges to his personal liking to try his case, and objects to the majority in place at the moment, then you know you are dealing with a dictatorial minority out to hound all (majority) dissent against them.

Re: Pro-CJ lawyers launch witchunt against dissenters

Down with dictators. U agree?

Re: Pro-CJ lawyers launch witchunt against dissenters

I am glad you agree that the dictatorial lawyers are a bad thing.

Other than that it's "doctrine of neccesity". :)
