Re: Pregnancy
pyaari, i heard that if you're of a normal weight when you start pregnancy you should gain 25-35 lbs total. a pound a week in the second and third trimester is normal and good.

Re: Pregnancy
oh u gotta be careful about sweet stuff, as diabetes is so easy to get during pregnancy and then if u do get it in pregnancy most likely u get it when your older..... but i know wot u mean, i couldnt stop eating.... esp in 2nd trimester... ive been munching on marshmellows myself!
they say if u crave feel like having sumthing sweet try to have a peice of fruit instead....hard i know!
does anyone know if you can get cotbeds in pakistan-Lahore..and where?
The cravings are getting out of hand...they are so hard to resist. I love eating sweet stuff...I think I am gaining too much weight. What is the average weight ur suppose to gain per a week? And what is the most u should gain per a wk???
purplerose: Mashallah ur almost there. Good luck with everything. I am starting to feel the back pain already. I think it also has to do with my bed.
zzzmer: I got a few zits on my face in the beginning too....it went away after a few months...esp when I started feeling better. Just try to take extra care of ur face.
Re: Pregnancy
My doctor told me to put virgin olive oil on my stomach instead of cocoa butter to help the dryness, itchiness and to avoid stretch marks.
Has anybody else tried this? She goes it works better than cocoa butter.
Re: Pregnancy
Mehnaz: Our pregnancy books tell us that no products help with preventing stretch marks...so I don't know. I use palmer's lotion. That helps reduce itching. Also don't wear anything tight cuz that causes itchiness.
Re: Pregnancy
Wait, there is a remedy for stratch marks...gotta call my friend who swears by it. Will be back.

Re: Pregnancy
hey ladies...one question..do you put oil and or other stuff to reduce stretch marks during or after pregnancy???
my second question is what if a person does not gain alot of weight is that normal....like my friend...she is 19 weeks pregnant and has gain only 2 pounds..she lost weight in the beginning of her pregnancy due to nausea and morning sickness stuff....on her latest prenatal visit which was few days ago she o gained 0 pounds....the doctor was really impressed by her but i was just wondering is that normal????
Re: Pregnancy
everyone is different from what i heard, all bodies expand different ways, as long as dr says its ok then thts good, most llikely she has had a healthy diet? and probably has burnt off excess eating or its all going to the baby!
ive been told to put on oil/butter during pregnancy as stretch marks appear when you reduce weight or increase weight....

usually women are slow to gain in the first/second trimester...it's in the last 2 months that you start racking on the weight. But this is just my observation.

I lost in all 15 kilos during pregnancy, but then i was never skinny ...
Re: Pregnancy
i don't see why a doctor would be impressed with no weight gain? usually doctors in the States recommend gaining a pound per week during the second and third trimester.
women in general are scared to gain weight, we've been conditioned to think like that our whole lives. suddenly when we're pregnant and are told we need to gain weight, the first instinct is to disregard that because we're afraid to get "fat."
it's something we need to get over. if there's no morning sickness, then you should make a definite effort to eat healthy and eat enough that you're gaining that recommended amount of weight, not very under and not very over. there's no medal given out at the end of pregnancy for the woman whose gained the least amount of weight.
Re: Pregnancy
zzzmer, if u mean me, then i had no command over my weight gain or loss. I eat more healthy stuff and left out sweets things, sometimes I had no appetite at dinner so I forced myself warm milk sometimes with cereal.
My doc was reguarly weighting me, she didnt seem to be concered about no weight gain, I think my body went to buring of fat reserves, that was 15 kilos too much in me before pregnancy.
I myself was so shocked the first time i weighted myself after the baby was born, of course I worried that the baby is not getting enought, my stomach was so small that the main doctor that came to visit me during i was in the labor room as i lying down, that he commented, she doesnt even has a stomach .. I was so shocked to hear it, but the midwife comforted me and said everything is ok.
Some of my neighbors were even suprised that how did i get a baby overnight.
let me say that i was taking my vitamins and eating healthy stuff, like i loved salad during that time, so i had no control over it, i wanted to gain but never did. every body is different, but of course gaining excess weight is not very good too.
Re: Pregnancy
A friend was mine is the same way: she is abt 6 months pregnant at the time MaashaAllah and hasnt gained any weight. If anything, she lost alot of weight during the first tri due to m/s. But the doc says MaashaAllah her baby is doing fine.
Re: Pregnancy
oh no, saadia, i didn't mean you at all! i'm really sorry if it sounded like i was criticizing you <3
my post was just a general one about women who actively try not to gain weight during pregnancy, for some odd reason. i totally understand that sometimes, no matter what, you just can't eat anything, and i sympathize because i'm going through morning sickness at the moment, and can barely eat anything but ice cold pani puri, and it's not fun.
Re: Pregnancy
I gained about 3-4 pounds in the first trimester. My friend, who is at the same stage as me lost 12 pounds .... so it's different for everybody.
Re: Pregnancy
