Ultrasound is effective in telling the gender only when a penis is clearly visible. If there is not one visible, it is not definitely a girl, it could just be that the little thing is hiding. and even if it appears to be a penis, it could be a trick of the positioning, it could actually be a hand or a loop of cord that is in a strange position. To know for sure 100 percent prior to birth, you'd go for a CVS or amniocentesis.
dewani teri… we were kinda surprised and not surprised at the same time… because except of the ultrasound, all the ladies around me was pretty convinced about us having a boy… and they guessed it from the shape of my tummy. although we had all the neutral colors, except of one pink and i somehow decided to take that one with me to the hospital .. so yeah, we brought him back in Pink
Nuzhat, congratulations. You should post more about the delivery process if you are comfortable. And yes, when can we see the baby's pics? What did you guys name him? Lol, i am all questions today, i hope its ok.
but what amazes me that women complains about EVERYTHING (forgetable/unforgetable... curable/incurable..or watever) in the world, then howcome I have NEVER heard anyone complaining about those pains.. anyway, its just me :p
Maybe because...they realize that by giving birht they're doing a noble thign? bringing another human being into this world? and the pain is wroth it? other things that they complain abt aren't so worthwihle? Mera lucky guess :D
ur ultrasound they said it was a girl?
Was that at ur 18th wk ultrasound?
And how could they tell from ur stomach?
yes...
suppose to be, but mine was done on my 21st week
if its a boy, they say your stomach is more pointy type.... but if its a girl, ur stomach is more round, like a donut type....also they said something about carrying (a baby) high or low...i dont remember which one was for which....
nuzhat: Congrats on ur baby....what did u name ur baby?
yourfriend: Thanks for the info...I don't think I would ever be able to tell the gender by the shape of the stomach I am so bad at that stuff....Did u end up buying all girls stuff for ur baby? I wanted to go shopping for mine too but now after hearing so many stories I feel so skeptical about shopping I still have 4 more months...I don't want to buy things and it turn out to be something else....what are the chances of that? And at ur ultrasound were they sure it was a girl???? Or did they say that it might be a girl since they don't see any boy parts?
I heard once that a woman who looks beautiful during her prengancy is having a boy b/c she's giving her beauty to her sons. but a woman whose having a girl looks stressed out and ugly, in that the girl is "sucking out" all her looks.
Pyaari83 ...personally, we didnt buy anything for the baby... but grandmothers did. like i said they were pretty convinced that we gonna have a boy so they bought all neutral colors except of one pink...
well, u can still do the shopping. just keep the receipts and change the color later if you got the surprise baby too.
yes, when i asked for the gender, they said a girl.
I don't really know about predicting the baby's gender by the shape of your belly, but I have heard about it.
One thing I DO know, which maybe a bit TMI , sorry- is that if your having a boy, your gonna have lots more body hair than normal! really , like all over heh.
But don't worry once the baby's born and you've stopped nursing , it will go away.

I wish i cud remember where xactly i heard it.
my mom bought a whole bunch of newborn outfits from pakistan, in pink, and blue and yellow and other colors. she said baby clothes there are kinda gender-neutral for upto a coupla years.
i dont know whats the norm in pakistan these days... but yeah, when i was there, we never really cared about the colors.... but here in canada, they do.
