Pregnancy

Re: Pregnancy

maybe it didn't work for you that way, but why you gotta be all cynical and scare the new mom's to be?
no one said its gonna be a cake-walk, but it also doesn't mean they'll be doing it in the middle of a forest with no help from anyone! there will be doctors, pain relief, and family iA to provide love and support. i have a lot of friends who've been thru opposite ends of the pain spectrum, so it is entirely possible to have an easy birth.

Re: Pregnancy

I have had the range - both very easy and very hard births and I have to say that even the worst one was not more pain than I was able to bear. Thats a gift that God gives to us as women - that we are very strong so He does not burden us with more than we can bear. Yes, there is pain. But its much more accurately hard work....hence the word "labor" :)

Try not to worry ladies, you WILL get thru it!

Re: Pregnancy

ofcourse u will get through it but the point is why nobody talks about the labor pain (and dont forget the breast pain afterwards). .... during my time everybody told me what to do or expect before and after the baby but why no one mentally prepared me about the severe pains that i would have to go through too? since my pregnancy period was very easy, these extreme pains i was not expecting at all. i think women should talk about it too.
now that i have been through it, i know what to expect for my second one.

Re: Pregnancy

YF, my experience was a bit different....I endured so many tales of horror about pain that was SO bad you just wanna DIE....I mean aside from the exaggeration of it, whats the point of striking terror into the heart of an expectant mother? Most especially when even the worst delivery is endurable and the pain is so very forgettable.

Re: Pregnancy

I'd say to every new mum hope for the best and expect the worst.

Re: Pregnancy

It doesn't work for most women, I'm just trying to prepare them.
And she(thread starter) asked about the pain and experiences we went through during child-birth, so I'm gonna write what I've been through and how I felt, people told me before labour that its easy etc and it didn't work at all. I was hoping for a heavy period pain but it was much worst.

Re: Pregnancy

Second time is usually easier and quicker than the first time.

Re: Pregnancy

I feel the 9 months of pregnancy are far worse than the delivery...so dont be afraid.Read quran e paak every day and inshallah allah will help you through it all. With my first baby i had the epidural and didnt feel a thing, however i hated how it made me groggy and sick, also i lost all sensation, couldnt even push properly. The second time around the baby came sooo fast no one knew what happened, one min the nurse is putting iv on me and the next min im delivering...so yeah its possible to have a good labour and delivery. Obviously it is very painful but nothing that you wont be able to handle inshallah. Btw i lost A LOT of hair about 3months after my baby was born so dont be freaked out if that happens...congrats and good luck

Re: Pregnancy

Oh and the pain of labour is the most easily forgotten pain there is...why else would women go on to have more babies!

Re: Pregnancy

I 'd suggest you should attend the class. I think people who praise and use pain relievers specially epidurals don't attend these antenatal classes otherwise they wouldn't recommend it to you.

Re: Pregnancy

When does the stomach itchiness normally start?

Re: Pregnancy

Shay: Thanks for ur duas! hareem and yourfriend: I know that having kids is not easy.....I went through a lot during my second month...but now that it is over I am happy and almost forgot it happened....I just have back pain now...inshallah I hope everything goes well. Seashell: The baby must make u forget about everything...mashallah those people are blessed that can have children Mehnaz: Mine kinda started...I think it depends....but when ur stomach starts getting bigger and start showing.

Re: Pregnancy

I know in PK they have those sayings if u do this u will have girl or if u do that u will have a boy....I will tell u one that I heard. If you get pregnant in the first 14 days when new moon starts u will have girl and last 14 days u will have boy...has anyone tried that? And did it work? Share some of urs....

Re: Pregnancy

i think ppl have the funniest ways to predict babies' genders...at the end of the day..only an ultrasound can truly indicate..and sometimes if your baby isn't cooperating in there, it can be impossible to get a hint!

i heard a whole bunch o ways ppl try to figure it out...moon cycles...times you feel nauseated in the day...the way your tummy looks..but i mean come on!! everyone's body is different, boys and girls are born everyday, and it is all up to allah swt! the end!!

Re: Pregnancy

i think its around the 2nd trimester. and oh man when it starts..it starts!!!

question...was everyone itchy, or were you lucky and didn't feel itchy?

Re: Pregnancy

Palmers coco butter is supposed to help with the itch and strech marks, my friend used it during her pregnancy and said it really helped with the itch.

Re: Pregnancy

I agree with seashell here, I think the pregnancy is much harder and longer than the delivery. Also , after the real labor starts , your sort of in a daze I guess would be a good way to put it...your in another dimension hehe -and maybe thats why women forget and have other babies :)
Well at least thats my theory heh

Re: Pregnancy

dewani teri… even the ultra sound could be wrong… it was wrong in my case even though the position of the baby was fine. although its not very common, but it did happen to few other people too. i think the shape of your tammy does tell a lot.
Pyaari83… i know pain is forgetable… no wonder why i wanted to have another one right away … but what amazes me that women complains about EVERYTHING (forgetable/unforgetable… curable/incurable..or watever) in the world, then howcome I have NEVER heard anyone complaining about those pains.. anyway, its just me :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Pregnancy

haha, it makes it sound so hooky-pokey when you start saying moon phases, but what they're talking about are kind of the basics of the Shettles method. since male sperm (carrying the Y chromosome) are faster (but have less longevity) than the female sperm (X chromosome), they say that if you want a boy, plan intercourse for right before or at ovulation time (which for some women is Day 14 of their cycle, with a 28 day cycle) because the male sperm will get to the egg the quickest and fertilize it.

if you want a girl, then you're supposed to plan intercourse a few days before intercourse and stop up to 3-4 days before ovulation, because though female sperm is slower, it's more stronger and heartier, so it'll stay in the woman for those days and eventually fertilize the egg when it drops, when all the male sperm are no longer swimming.

either way, it sounds good in theory, but the truth is the most women have no idea when they ovulate (not to say it's a good thing, i think women should be aware of their cycles and bodies :)) and not all have 28 day cycles, so day 14 isn't automatically ovulation day. plus, allah swt's plans supersede our own in every way! we should just pray for happy and healthy babies and smooth pregnancies.

Re: Pregnancy

yourfriend...yep ultrasounds arent a 100% sure way of telling..but OMG! yours was the opposite?? had you shopped in a completely different mindset of having a boy/girl and wow..how was that? were you guys waay surprised after teh birth?
