Think how much more peaceful the world would be without Jesus and Muhammad.
They both claimed that they had visions from God/Allah, yet their followers use them as a means of division, creating yet another barrier between people.

If your quoting someone else, and its in refrence to your speech then yeah there is nothing wrong with it… There are thousands of books and thousands of Anti Muslim quotes… Read Karen Armstrongs book Mohammad and you will see the entire first chapter is filled with quote from long dead European leaders in which the villify the prophet… But this was all to put the book in context for the reader, particulalry for the Western reader for whom she intended it to be. In the rest of the book she goes to great lengths to even defend the prophet and Islam from what westerners would find disturbing… There are other books out there aswell… Read Dantes Inferno, which is still considered a masterpiece, and yet it is probably the biggest Insult to Islam I have ever read.
So basic point, have faith in your religion and stop over reacting to non issues… You should be more concerned about how Muslims are treating Muslims then what the Pope is saying.

The dog barked a thousand years ago and for some reason it took that long for the Muslims to realize what he said… If it werent for the pope, no one would have known, state of our educational system being what it is, I doubt most Pakistanis have even heard of the Byzantines…Is it just me, or are Muslims really out of the loop here.

Let's dose him with a bit of reason: in the modern world, the here-and-now, Islamic fundamentalists FREQUENTLY commit atrocious crimes in the name of their religion; that's undeniable. Fatwas are issued, Jihads are embarked upon, buses are bombed, assassinations are committed, people are forcibly converted, women are oppressed. All these things are happening NOW, not in some distant past. To bring up isolated incidents of extremism - such as the abortion clinic bombings - as a defense is pointless, in so doing you're not answering any of the criticisms. Rational people living in the free world are focussing on Islam because this behaviour is becoming typical within Islam - that doesn't mean that we don't condemn extremism when it occurs outside of Islam, of course we do! That still doesn't answer the questions being asked of Islamists - why does Islam legitimate violence via Fatwas and Jihad? Why does Islam oppress women? Why do Muslim fundamentalists regularly murder innocent women and children? We're talking today, in the here-and-now, in the 21st century - your religion encourages/supports/promotes the use of violence - is that a faith to be proud of?
Why not try thinking for yourself instead of parrotting the crap you've been taught? You have a mind of your own.
Answer the questions instead of trying to come up with counter-allegations - otherwise just shut up, because your responses are worthless.
What i am trying to tell you and some other stupid arses here is that, me or many other muslims will NOT be offended if you denounce/criticize violence committed by a minority. But we do get offended when someone tries to blame our religion as basis of every wrong doing AND AT THE SAME TIME FORGETTING HOW THEIR PEOPLE OF THEIR FAITH HAVE JUSTIFIED VIOLENCE AGAINST OTHER NATIONS USING RELIGION.
Some people in every faith icluding Islam/christianity/judaism have justified violence that does NOT make the religion or its followers inherently violent or evil.
But one cannot fix a stupid ars like yours.

Wouldn’t this issue have been resolved in a more peaceful way if Muslims sought to seek dialogue with the Pope instead of the usual over-reaction that follows.
Most of the people rioting in the streets have never even heard of the Pope, its just mass paranoia that feeds the masses and the Arab and Islamic countries around the world leech on to these pointless issues to show how Islamic they are and how they defend Islam from the Infidels.
These kinds of actions contradict Islam and contradict the teachings of Prophet Muhammed.
In the Prophet’s days or even during the 7th-11th century, people used to have debates, christians, jews and muslims debated religion, philosophy, etc, without this mass hysteria which manifests it self in the uneducated massess.
If the Pope said something, the best way to diffuse the situation is to have a dialogue with the Pope.

Pope Benedict has a history of anti Muslim remarks. While he was a Cardinal he gave an interview to Le Figaro where he said that Turkey should not be allowed to join the European Union because the Turks were not Europeans. He also said, in a speech shortly after he became pope, that the Crusades were right. This latest speech is nothing more than an anti Muslim comment.
It is a fact that more than 80% of the victims of violence due to so called Islamic terrorists are Muslims themselves. No one needs someone from a different faith to point this out to Muslims across the world. But, Benedict had to come up with his anti Muslim comments and there are some Muslims who even stand up for him. What a sad state of affairs!
If the world's Muslims wish to make him stop, they have an easy way of doing it. Germany, whose chancellor Angela Merkel is one leader who ahs publicly justified these remarks, needs to be informed that the biggest market for her country's products, namely BMW, Mercedes and Audi cars is the Middle East. So is the biggest market for Italian products from Ferrari cars to fashionable designer clothing. Muslims could boycott these products and make these people shut up. By boycotting these products they would also show that by and large they are a peaceful community who choose to voice their anger with passive methods and not violent ones.
Believe me, one act of violence would cause more problems for everyone. Hopefully, the hotheads who are angry about this would, instead, hit at the Italians' and Germans' money purses instead of harm anyone physically. Not only would they disprove the Pope when they do this, they would also defeat his backers in politics.

The modus ope***** within Islam seems to be "kill those who disagree with us". Sorry, this isn't the 15th century any more, that kind of attitude is not going to be accepted by rational people living in the free world.

I say, bravo to the Pope for having the courage to state the truth - aware of the fact that by so doing he is risking his own life (which ironically proves the TRUTH of his words).

In the same way that the Catholic church has demonstrated it´s maturity by acknowledging the failures and excesses of the past e.g. the inquisition - though we're talking hundreds of years ago now. This is the 21st century, for God's sake.

Nations are being invaded, civilians massacred and raped, random people being detained and tortured...NOW, not then.
If these "rational" people, **who at least in America and the UK **are supporting a broader war effort which is quite violent, considers these acts to be "typical" of Islam, even though they are perpetrated by thousands with supports of probably a similar amount - moral support not amounting to more than a hill of beans (sure, OBL is popular...only because he's convinced people of a new Crusade)...then I think these "rational" people really shouldn't be considered all too rational.

A:- If a mullah (and I am not even talking about an Alim) in our local mosque, in his khutba, quotes someone calling “Christianity an evil and inhumane religion” I would not want to offer my prayers in that mosque. In this day and age I would think he is spreading hatred among faiths.
