re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Lets compare the Tendulkar and Jawardene ... who has better percentage of winning the game after hitting a ton.... Shell we ?

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons’ winning %age comparatively low

Go ahead :k: Put some data behind your arguement.

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Let's see some numbers for the top 15-20 players in the last 20 years and see if there is some extraordinary proof againt SRT.. the onus is on you to produce these numbers..

And lets say if SL's win % after Jaya's 100 IS higher than India's win% after SRT's ton.... does this really mean that "SRT 100 = India lose" ? Does this mean SRT is selfish and plays for records?

Nope.

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons’ winning %age comparatively low

ODI’s

Sachin’s ODI Record when he scored a 100

Total tons : 48
Won the game : 33
Lost the game : 13

Winning % = 33/48 * 100 = 68.75 %

Jayawardene’s ODI Record when he scored a 100

Total tons : 14
Won the game : 13
Lost the game : 01

Winning % = 13/14 * 100 = 92.85 %

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Good, now we are talking :D

MJ has scored 14 centuries in 332 ODIs i.e. 1 century in every 24 ODIs
SRT has scored 48 centuries in 453 ODIs i.e. 1 century in every 9 ODIs

Their records are not even comparable. Why don't you get a batsman whose record is more comparable to Sachin's ? Or better still, look at the top 10 ODI centurymakers of all time and lets see how Sachin stacks up against them.

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Tendulkar is probably only indian i like (take my frnds and relatives out). I have nuthing against him.....He is the best batsman in today's cricket .... If tendulkar scores a ton and india loses doesnt mean its tendulkars fault, its just that Indian bowling hasnt been very consistent in defending decent totals. Its just his luck that he didnt get strong bowling line to support his outclass batting.

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Hi............ i never said Jayawardene is better batsman than Sachin, On the other hand y dont you pick a batsman ?

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons’ winning %age comparatively low

Ok, lets start with these 5 -

Sachin Tendulkar](Sachin Tendulkar - Wikipedia)
Ricky Ponting](Ricky Ponting - Wikipedia)
Sanath Jayasuriya](Sanath Jayasuriya - Wikipedia)
Sourav Ganguly](Sourav Ganguly - Wikipedia)
Herschelle Gibbs](Herschelle Gibbs - Wikipedia)

Glad you get that

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

Sachin Tendulkar= 33/48 = 68.75 %
Sir Viv Richards = 11/11 = 100 %
Saeed Anwar 16/20 = 80 %
Ricky Ponting = 25/30 = 83.33 %
Sanath Jaysuria = 24/28 = 85.71 %
Hershelle Gibbs = 15/21 = 71.4 %
Sourav Ganguly =18/22 = 81.81 %

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

I will be glad if u admitted he does have little bad luck charm when he scores Hundreds.... Coz i think his 90's has better percentage of winning the game than his 100's.

Nope am wrong

Sachin has 18 nervous 90's .... Indian won 11 and lost 7 .... 11/18 = 61.11 %

If India had better bowling he wud have won atleast 3 World cups in his career.

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons’ winning %age comparatively low

I agree with all of the facts that you have listed  However, all that proves is that the games where Sachin made a century and India lost were either due to bad bowling or no support from the other batsmen. To extend that arguement further, it does not prove that Sachin plays only for records (as his critics claim). What it does prove is that Sachin gives his best even in losing causes. And thats the greatness of the player :k:

And at the end of the day - 69% winning record when he scores a century is not that bad, especially when you combine it with the fact that he has scored a century every 9 games (on average).

P.S. Thanks for keeping the dicsussion healthy and objective :k:

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

this is was what i expected.some of them where making fun of him

also saching go out on 99 around 5-6 times :P

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

What about Inzamam;s percentage i think its better than Tendulkar too

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

U simply nailed it :D

re: Player: Sachin tons win games; Pakilarka: Sachin tons' winning %age comparatively low

the most important point here is the one made by both paki larka and player... the % is lower than others due lack of support from other indian batters or the indian bowling..

the statement " srt 100 = india lose " is still illogical.. since its true only ~31% of the time..
