They were PM's friends and were travelling along with him, staff did try to stop them from smoking and making halla gulla in the plane but they didn't care about them,

PIA is making good profits actully, the profits for 2006 were around $30 million.
the only reason there services are declining and them hiring unprofessionsals is that they have no competition.
now why would anyone want to change there service or airline no matter how bad it is, when all flights are going sold out despite ticket prices increasing every day.
they need competion and then they will improve there service themselves and hire more professionals, once there revenues go down and people fly on other airlines.
one good thing is that i have heard british airways is starting its pak service this year and virgin airlines is also gona start.
then we have airblue which operates from manchester expanding and other airlines like shaheen and aero asia are starting up.

Can you provide your sources? I quickly checked PIA’s website for financial statements and for 2006 they are showing loss of US$ 209million (source: http://www.piac.com.pk/PIA_About/profiles/2006/PIA_Annual_Report_2006-P1.pdf, page 46) and US$204 million from the Part IIof the report, page 90.

hahaha, reminded me of something similar as well 
PIA is the only airline, which throws away its revenue passengers and allow ministers to sit on their seat. happened to one of my uncle, he was traveling from Pak to Us in BUSINESS class, and he was asked to sit in economy cause some minister wanted to go in the same flight..

I will never fly with clowns like these. I actually have a family member who was shifted in the economy class from business because of Paki Imbeciles .....err, Paki Politicians.
And no reimbursements.

Actually I have flown with PIA only twice, on long haul flights
and both of those flights were pretty good - excellent
on time - great service - and very friendly crew
The impression that I am getting here is that PIA has really bad service overall

and even if by some miracle you finally get what you want, it's like " lay kha pee marr!"
But the main problem lies with our own jaahil people, humaray logon ko seaton par bhi baithnay kee tameez nahin, saaree aisle ko block kar detay hain, aur apne bachon k liye doodh aur pepsi etc. aisay mangtay hein jaise apnay ghar ka kitchen ho, aur takia, kumbal etc. aise mangtay hain jaise becharay saalon se soye hee nahin. aur mashallah bathroom saara ya to dho k aa jaatay hain aur ya block kar detay hain. bus apna kaam ho jaye, baaqi log bhar mein jayen. Iss liye ek naek mashwara: agar toilet jaana itna hee zaroori hai to pehle ghante mein ho aao, kyonke baad mein toilet kee shakal use karne jaisi nahin rahe gee.
The same people would not dare do such things on BA for instance.

desis are incapable of leaving toilets clean. incapable of polished customer service. and fundamentally always looking for a short cut to beat the line or make a buck or get two for one. whether as a passenger or as the airline.
