Re: personal hygiene among desis
Okay so everyone's addressed the food thing. Good to know!
I am surprised no one has brought up dirty-sock smell yet. I am mostly referring to desis in the west for this example. I remember in high school, having many desis in my chemistry and biology classes and one smell that I still associate with those classes is dirty-sock-smell! Not sure how many weeks do they go with one pair of socks, I've never understood how they cannot smell it.
One good thing, however, that came out of this experience is that it made me super-duper paranoid about my own shoes and socks. To this day, I have the most number of socks from all of the people I know - because I am now obsessed with making sure I never ever repeat wearing the same pair twice without a wash!!
Anyway, another thing I am reminded of right now is once seeing a guy (desi, of course!) from my high school in May and noticing salt marks on his pants. Last time we had snow and salt was in February of that year - when I saw those* clear and obvious* salt marks, I felt soo grossed out. Now, it could be anything but if you are going around wearing pants that look like they still have the salt mark after months - people are bound to think you haven't washed them in a longggggg while!
Re: personal hygiene among desis
^ WOW...the guy with the salty pants...yuck!
Re: personal hygiene among desis
No one answered my question… what do you do about winter smells? Like the raw chicken smell… does anyone know what im talking about? ![]()
Re: personal hygiene among desis
^ Nope. Elaborate.
PSquared - tell me about it!
Re: personal hygiene among desis
Ive never had a problem with smelling bad in the summer… I shower at least once and sometimes even twice… use body sprays, deoderant, perfume etc…same routine in the wintertime except for showering twice.. thats a rarity… but what ive noticed is that if I spend an excessive amount of time out in the bone chilling cold, I smell pretty gross.. kinda like a raw chicken smell… not cute at all
my sister says that it comes from my head…
Anyone know what that might be about and how I could fix that?
Re: personal hygiene among desis
^ I am going to have to smell raw chicken tomorrow to get a better idea of the smell - will get back to you on this one! :D
Don't know about the raw chicken smell....and whether or no it's particular to cold weather. But my sis and friend believe that the **outdoors **leaves a stronger smell. For example, you smell worse when you've been exercising outdoors compared to in a gym. The smell is just stronger when you come from outside. I think its true because I prefer exercising (jogging) outdoors and my mom likes goes out for walks...whereas my sister goes to the gym. And there is a difference.
But this in the case of exercise.....haven't noticed it otherwise.
Re: personal hygiene among desis
to all those who say that bread comes before bo...you might be right...but if a jhaaro wala on the street can afford a cell phone for 3000 Rs...he can surely afford some deodrant which you can get for small amount ( i remember a cousin in pak having a deodrant. He said he bought it for 120 rs).
Then again i guess you cant show off with a can of deodrant in your hand like you can with a phone (in your hand) ( in pakistan).
hmm could it be your hat. Sometimes if you don’t dry your hair and tie it up.
But raw chicken? I don’t know about that.
