personal grooming in public spaces

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I'd be annoyed with nail clipping and filing...thats messy and annoying.

But I've always used that hour on the train to put on my makeup, listen to music and do my reading. I used to love that part of my train ride. :)

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I've put on lipstick and lip gloss in public and maybe some kajal too and I don't have an issue with people putting on make up or combing their hair in public.

But the rest of the stuff... I think I'll pass.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Clipping nails is probably the only thing that would bother me

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

omg it bugs me like hell!!!!!! i mean i feel disgusted. blush eyeliner naa jaane kya kya in ten mins and girls change totally.. nail filing is worse!!! i guess lotion applying can be ok if in a very cold country like canada. hair brushing is also yucky!!!!!! yes all this happens in trains and buses.

hey... but it's not as bad as PDA!!!!!!!!!!!! that annoys the hell outta me :/

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

men carrying hair wax and aftershave around with them is not uncommon these days

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

oh now thats classy

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I think we need to fight back and have a full classic shave while on stop lights…preshave oil, brush applied shave cream, nice leisurely shave, wash up, apply aftershave etc.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

To pee or not to pee, that is the question, as Shakespeare put it.

Depends on if they decided to walk out of the comfort of their home to pee in the comfort of the open air. Or if they have to pee and there is no place available but the open. In South Asia, I suspect the latter is the reason.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I thought the protocol is to stand and squirt.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I once filed my nail in the mall, it chipped while taking the stroller out of the car.. i rather annoy everyone around me by letting them see me file my nail rather then having everything getting caught in that chipped nail :snooty:

and honestly i don’t mind any of that stuff mentioned above, I’am extremely good at zoning out.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

LOL- once in train, at a stop, a girl entered and sat beside me. She was wearing no makeup at all, seemed like she just washed the face and caught the train. Just when she sat, she opened up her bag with in two minutes and literally she gave herself the makeover in half hour! she took foundation… did it, then face powder, then eye shadows, then liner, then mascara, then blush on, then lipstick and finally chapstick!! She probable was afraid of missing the train I guess!! :cb: nevertheless, it doesn’t annoy me at all!!

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Using a tooth pick

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Brushing hair?

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Everything else I have a problem with except touching-up your make-up.. or brushing your hair.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

In the developed part of the world where I live, they have cheap China-made nail-clippers that have a holder so the clippings are trapped in it.
I never had a problem clipping my toe-nails at work or in the train. :snooty:

And the problem is ? You want the poor rich woman to get a whiff of the disgusting body-odour of the lowly mazdoor. Jeez! :snooty:

I would get up, go to the mother and slap her right there in public.

And extracting a few loose head lice at the same time. No problem.

I would hate a strand of hair landing in my face or my lassi or my clothes.
How would I explain the hair on my collar to my wives ? :frowning:

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Is letting one rip in public considered acceptable personal grooming?

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

^ wondered what took so long?

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Clipping nails and plucking would bother me. Applying makeup doesn't bother me. I for the record don't do any of this in public. I only reapply lipstick after having dinner at a wedding but only in the restroom, other than that if its a more intimate gathering I dont even care and that leads me to not even bother with a touch up.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

i have never seen anyone cutting/filing their nails....it would not be nice to see that in public anyways.

makeup does not bother me. seems fine to me.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

LOL.
