personal grooming in public spaces

Yay or nay?

A pet peeve of mine is when people clip or file their nails in public, i.e. The train/bus or at work. Does it annoy or disgust you to see people taking care of personal grooming (applying make-up, tweezing, nail clipping/filing) outside the privacy of their home or a rest room?

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I will be honest, I dont get as miffed seeing someone file their nails .. but tweezing, nail clipping and even makeup totally annoy me …

Even with lipstick or chapstick , I can handle someone doing that in public as long as they arent making those super freaky faces .. know what i mean..

Usually seen this happening in trains and buses

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

This is gross. Are you guys in the US? I haven't really seen anyone doing this in public over here.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I waxed my moustache in public once.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

The only thing that I’m okay with is lipstick and chapstick, oh and maybe hand lotion for dry winter days - everything drives me crazy.

Umer, I’m in Canada and I posted this thread while the lady sitting next to me filed her nails and drew in her eyebrows

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Makeup is okay.

Nail filing drives me nuts.

Thankfully I don't really see much of this in public.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Girls, do whatever you want but please do not fix your makeup stopped on green light in the morning when everyone is rushing to work.

Thank you

:chai:

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Yukh! I’m just glad that Europeans don’t seem to have these gross habits. The worst I’ve seen on public transport is people poking their noses.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I wait for the AMBER and RED lights

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

of course most of them start at AMBER and/or RED but it goes on even when it turns to GREEN :)

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

lipstick/chapstick is okay with me.....and that too in a discreet manner.....but nothing more than that.
especially not filing or clipping nails......ewwww!

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Clipping nails should be banned everywhere else other than the bathroom…!

I have not seen a lot of it happening.Women fixing make up in the ladies room, yes.I do not see anything wrong with that.

Oh does brushing your hair also come in the same category..??..I am guilty of doing that a few times..:bummer:

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I have seen it all.

people doing nails, mascara on, checking their teeth, putting lotion on their feet.

It's odd minus putting lotion on your hands and I wouldn't even do that while I am talking to someone.

personal grooming in public spaces

Lipstick, lip balm is ok and so is hand lotion considering the dry weather of Canada but I cannot tolerate tweezing eyebrows and clipping nails!!
What if one of the clipped nail goes into somebody's coffee or hair or bag Eeeeewwwww!! Disgusting!

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

I have lost count of how many times I've seen plain jane ladies sitting across from me morph into bombshells by the time the trip is over. I am simply amazed at their confidence and their ability to apply eyeliner through a rocky ride.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Why does it bother you guys, seriously? Live and let live.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

It bothers me cuz I lack the ability to zone out others while I am in public places.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

It's not like they're mooning at you that you can't zone out.

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

i completely agree..nail filing is ok with me too..but clipping nails and tweezing?

Re: personal grooming in public spaces

Now that would be fun :faizy:
