PCB, Afridi equally responsible for current mess: Abbas APP(4 hours ago) Today](http://www.dawn.com/2011/06/13)

ISLAMABAD: Legendary batsman and former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas has blamed both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former ODI captain Shahid Afridi for the latest mess that Pakistan finds itself in.
“Some are saying Afridi is right, while others are saying PCB is right. Frankly, both are wrong,” Abbas said in an interview to Gulf News.
“When Afridi made a few mistakes the board did not do anything and let him go. So Afridi went on pushing his luck. Had the board strictly enforced the rule during his very first mistake, the whole incident would not have happened,” he added.
Abbas was opinion that the PCB had played into the hands of public sentiment by not punishing Afridi properly after he violated the PCB and International Cricket Council code of conduct in the very first place.
“Any player breaking the law should be punished immediately. He has to be told that he is not above the game. When Afridi chewed the ball and scratched the ball, nothing was done. Then when he was named captain of the Pakistan team at Lord’s, he resigned.”
“The number of times the board let him go scot-free is many. This sends a wrong message to other players in the team and it also will prove that player power is stronger than the board,” he added.
“Any player who has signed the contract must abide by the rules of the contract. It clearly states that you are not supposed to make public statements. If the board does not punish a player who breaks the rules, other players will also take their chances,” he said.
He believed the latest controversy had been blown out of proportion by being played out in the public and it should have been settled behind closed doors.
“Once you let such an issue become public then it is trouble and no wonder it has now ended up in court,” said Abbas.
He was also of the opinion that the PCB had created factions within the team by changing captains every few months.
“How can a board select a captain for three years when they are not even sure of what will happen in the next tour. We have been struggling to find a strong captain and under the present scenario Misbah-ul-Haq seems to be the best option.”
However, the erstwhile skipper was confident that Pakistan cricket would tide over the current crisis soon and regain its lost glory.
Abbas, however, remained confident about the future of Pakistan cricket, adding the core talent was there and will always be there.
“There is so much talent in Pakistan that the team can come up within a year,” he said.

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

I am not sure when we as Pakistani, will learn about balanced approach. Our “power scale” is always tilted, sometimes one way and sometimes another :smack:

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

^^ Right now, no matter what any one feels about Afridi, PCB and its underachiever* Ch-man has a severe ill balanced tilt towards him..basically he is a the *boat anchor, the large gaping hole in the boat hull or the pompous dinosaur sitting in the hull, what ever term you like better, that has created all of this drama as a result of his own overbearing presence since he came on board. If Afridi is to blame today, then it is all the past errors and negligence of Ijaz Butt that has led to it.

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

BREAKING NEWS: Shahid Afridi has agreed to withdraw his case against PCB. Moreover, PCB agree to grant him NOC to… http://fb.me/ZYua5Dzo

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

So all this drama will be over if PCB allows him to play County and league cricket, he was a loser and he is going to be loser, i have sympathy with Afridi fans if this news is true

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

bummer... i thought in the end solution would be afridi coming out of his retirement and PCB accepting his importance.
is more like a deal than a decision.

in the end, ilyas came out as the biggest loser.

Shahid Afridi cleared to play for Hampshire by PCB - BBC Sport](http://www.dawn.com/2011/06/14/afridi-butt-meet-in-presence-of-government-officials.html)

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

All these development do not indicate anything about him playing for Pakistan. I anticipate he will be back in the team as a player soon.

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

So in the end of the day, butt will remain a big “BUTT”.. Afridi will make money from everywhere.. and the problems of pakistani cricket will remain there as it is..

Gai bhens pani men .. :bummer:

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

Zaheer is as always right on the money. Afridi is equally culpable in this unfortunate saga. The less said about Ijaz Butt the better

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

Butt kee maan nay kitnay bakray sadqah kiyay thay? :smack:
pher bach gaya …

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

So finally baat 4.5million Rs main taaay ho gaee

I think Afridi got a good deal in the end. I am sure he will make way more than that in one T20 in UK…

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

^^ So to call out the Ch-man on his hypocrisies cost him 4 1/2 million. I guess that is a small price to pay when you work for a group of clowns.

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

Thats about how much he will get paid in SLPL.
for that amount he should have negotiated his retirement too.

Butt showed who is the daddy.

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

would like to add more to it, this is what happens in clown circus.. fat clown nabs the thin clown... and both do it for money... the so-called super-star of Pakistan bowed to the pressure... the pressure to mint more money from international leagues... he licked his own spit just to play league cricket, that tell us how much he cared about Pakistan and cricket...

Re: PCB tamasha - PCB plans action against Afridi -

Just to inform u guys that still Afridi didnt apologized he wanted the NOC so thats why he did the negotiatement .........Still he says he wont play under this board
