There was a big turn-out at airport when Afridi returned home. Butt’s PCB seems to be feeling the heat. It is criticizing the politicizing of the issue.
Well, what did it expect if it this is how it deals with one of the most popular cricketers of Pakistan.
Ali also said the board had no legal right to suspend the central contract or revoke the No Objection Certificates and said it could be challenged ”in a court of law.”
Afridi’s lawyer was also unhappy with the proceedings behind held closed doors, arguing that the board ”has no right to impose an embargo on the right of our client to legal representation.”
Waqar Younus is another polarizing figure. It is not only Afridi disliking his attitude. Earlier Javed Miandad refused to be a batting coach just because of Waqar Younus.

Guys this is TV5 - i think the same channel that had tried to contract Butt for the WC expert commentary slot…either they are related to Salman behind the scenes or simple sensationalist media trying to score on ratings by trying to include controversial guests.
As for Salman, please go and deal with your criminal case in England first before you pass judgement on some one like Afridi who at least has not been blamed for anything criminal.

I have a question. how do people know what day, time and flight a cricketer is coming home?
I know it doesnt get published in newspapers.
and how do they gather bunch of people with drums and flowers to go welcome them. who pays for it?
its not like abdul says to salim that afridi is coming home at 8.43 pm on PIA cs167 flight. lets go welcome him. you get the drummer and i will get the flowers and posters.

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to issue a seconf show-cause notice to selector Muhammad Ilyas on giving statements against former captain Shahid Afridi, Geo News reported.
Acoording to PCB sources, the board has decided to issue show-cause notice to the selector on using derogatory language against Afridi. The first notice was issued on Friday while the other is due today (Monday).
Afridi accused Ilyas of pressurising the selection committee to select his son-in-law Imran Farhat in the team.

So removal of Afridi as captain when he gave interview but did not take any names.
Show cause notice to Iilyas when he not only took names in fact passed derogatory remarks like “begharat”

Ijaz Butt reminds me of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. They we backed by Bush and everybody wanted them to resign but Bush had their backing just like Ijaz Butt has Zardari's backing. I hope it turns out like Rumsfeld episode where finally Bush was like enough is enough and its better for you to leave the cabinet. Although from what it looks Butt is gonna pull a Cheney and finish his tenure if he has one (I am sure same as Zaradri's tenure as president).

I know Afridi has his issues, but in this case I along with many fully support his stance. And I think hiring a good legal firm is the first step in the right direction. I am not defending Afridi, rather I am against this system run by Ijaz Butt where he is allowed to be the adhoc head with limitless powers.
Down with Butt…and the PCB adhoc setup. PPP can score a million points with the people if they actually create a board with professionally hired CEO and ex-cricketer as VP of operations.

Karachi, Jun 6 (PTI) Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt has landed in yet another controversy after giving a telephonic interview to a TV show which had banned former captain Salman Butt as a panelist. Last night, Butt came on the telephone line in a show that featured Salman Butt, who has been banned for 10 years for being involved in spot-fixing, and national selector Mohammad Illyas, a target of some scathing attacks by sacked ODI captain Shahid Afridi. Butt also had some harsh words for former captain Wasim Akram advising him concentrate on his commentary assignments in India. Asked about Wasim's advice to the board and Afridi to sit sort out the differences and his insistence that the board explain the reasons for removing Afridi as captain, Butt said that it would be better if he didn't try to interfere in Pakistan's cricket affairs. "He should look at his past and record and then give such statements. I don't want to say anything here but Wasim would be better off doing commentary in India," he said. Illyas was also very critical of Afridi and used some offensive language against the all-rounder, who has quit international cricket and is on war path with the PCB over his sacking as ODI captain. **"I don't think the board should have allowed Illyas to appear on a show with Salman Butt who is banned for spot fixing and don't forget Illyas is a paid selector," **a senior member of the Karachi City Cricket Association said. The KCCA secretary Ejaz Farooqi made it clear it was also ethically wrong for Butt to take part in a show involving a former captain banned for corruption. Another former player noted that while the board had show caused Afridi for violating the code of conduct, the appearance of Illyas on the show and his offensive language were also to be taken note of.
So it seems the actual fixers are at the head of this board and that is why they are in cahoots with the wrong crowd.
