She won't be using it for gaming or any other activties that require extreme performance. Nor will she need to worry about getting her hardware updated too often.
With macs she won't have to worry about spyware, adware, viruses etc as much as you do with PC's.
13 inches is perfect, especially if you’re traveling around with it.
Apple drones everywhere….
70% of Mac users would jump off a bridge if their friends did. 25% claim they already jumped off of a bridge before it was mainstream. 5% are saving up to jump off a taller bridge next month.
Reha, the Air is definitely more expensive. Yes if you've never used a MAC before, it will be a new experience. But it isn't rocket science. I love my Air. It's very portable, so so light, great battery life, excellent for graphics and all the stuff you want to do with it. It looks pretty cool too! :D But yes, it is more expensive than your budget.
Reha, don't believe the Hype. Don't get yourself a mac! If your limit is 800 bucks, then don't spend more than that! You'll be spending half the amount to get yourself a laptop instead of a macbook, seriously.

That's exactly why she shouldn't be getting a machine for more than a 1000$$$ worth!
What hardware? Ram? Which is not really that often the case?

That's alright. We are all entitled to a little offtrack posts. Everyone likes to share their excitement and experience. The OP is intelligent enough to filter out unwanted information.

opps, i did not think like that. thank you. I hope op will select right product.
Reha, I agree with those who say you don't need a MAC. Why spend twice as much money? PCs are extremely good computers. You can get the same specs for $800 that you would in a MAC. I suggest walk into a store - look at laptops in your price range and pick the best one. I have a gateway which isn't the best quality in laptops but I have had it for 2 years and still going strong.
It’s a pain sometimes, but whenever someone complains, I just whip off the…cover…and show them the Apple logo on it. Then they’re all like, “Can I touch it?”.
The force is strong with this one.
In all seriousness, unless you’re a noob (all due respect), or have the extra money and simply like Macs, I don’t get why you’d want one. If all you’ll be doing is surfing the web, there is no need to spend more money on a better processor, more RAM, and a more powerful graphics card, not to mention the shiny logo. One of my brothers is actually inept when it comes to computers, and Macs are perfect for him. It just depends on your needs.
