PC vs. Mac
Pros:
-Touchpad controls
-Better experience with the software/hardware combo
-Much less chance of getting a virus
-Stylish design (There are pretty cool Win laptops out there too but still)
Cons:
-More expensive
-Some apps may not work on Macs (like Quickbooks)
Verdict: I started using a Mac beginning of this year. I got a great deal on a 2 yr old 15" Macbook Pro. Once I started using it I fell in love with the touchpad that these guys come with. I also get connected to infected networks and do a lot of testing. With this platform I feel less vulnerable of getting any infection. I also use lots of unix based utilities which come native to the *nix based OSX.
For Windows only apps I use Vmware based virtual machines, which works out well for me.
Macbook Pro vs. Air: I switched to Air when they came out with a model that would upgrade to 8GB memory. Its much much lighter than my 15" Pro and comes with SSD standard. With the i5 and SSD my Air just flies. The battery lasts forever (approx. 5-6 hours on a full charge) and its pretty much always on for me (I just close the lid and it just waits to roar at a moments notice).
Price is ofcourse more. I compared the Air with other Ultrabooks (windows based) out there, upon displeased requests from one of the guys on my team. But there was something or the other that wasn't quite right with the 4-5 models that I considered. My criterea was weight, speed, features and invulnerability. Plus I wanted to be more adept at a bigger variety of platforms. With MacOS (based on *nix) and a Win7 VM, i thought I have a complete system.
To a common user I'll suggest to stick with something that you are most familiar with .
Mac should the easiest option. But coming from a windows I don't see why people still buy windows computers, Mac is by far the most superior OS. I can't believe i used windows for 10 years. Finally feels nice to get away from all the DLL crap. Now it should be smooth sailing from now on.

You might be saying the same thing after 10 years about Mac . Technology is evolving so much that you just can't say if something is better or best . Everything is comparative on different criteria .
I say PC although Macs look pretty they often have more expensive problems and if you wanted to replace or fix something inside the computer it would cost more than an average non-apple laptop.
God knows I've gone through my many laptops I still advocate PC over Apple.

No it wouldn't macs use basically the same technology as PCs. Same RAM same Processors same HDs, I just changed my Macbook Pro's Ram to 8 gig for only $22. How can that be expensive? I also got a Free Mac OS update to Mountain Lion for FREE from the App store! Now lets see Microsoft pull this off.
Things that I don't like about Microsoft:
They've basically tried to copy Apple's Mac OS Interface with their windows Vista and windows 7.
They have tried to create a flappy app store which is also based on Apple's App store.
They have tried to get in to the Tablet and Phone market also copying Apple's iPhone and iPad and Even iPod, creating a rather boring "Zune" Mp3 player.
They have also ruined their new OS Windows 8 because they can't seem copy Mac exactly and convinced me to get a Mac. I've been a windows fanboy for over 10 years now, but it seems that Microsoft can't maintain their originality. It's time to move on.
