Re: Paper Plates

Yes well...some people don't like washing dishes...people like me.

Re: Paper Plates

I don't like washing dishes at all. I always use a dishwasher. I personally haven't had a big daawat of my own...for small ones I use our normal cutlery. But at my mom's and in-law's, for big dawats they use disposable plates. And my mom always goes with sturdier plates and with a colour theme and buys similar coloured napkins and stuff just to make it look a bit more "cute" lol.

I don't see anything wrong in it. My mom cooks every single meal even if she's inviting 50 or so people. She doesn't do catering. She cleans the entire house herself, doesn't hire a cleaning person or anything (of course the kids and dad help but still). So I don't see anything wrong for her to use disposable plates. At least one less thing to work on. She's only human and gets tired. She never used to do it when we were all younger...but now she's older and she prefers it that way. I don't think it's any less welcoming to the guests. I don't think disposable cutlery overrides the effort that goes into so many hours of cooking and cleaning for the guests.

Re: Paper Plates

theyre not that bad. but actually i know many people who run from work. they think its a kam wallis job or something or below them to do any house work.

Re: Paper Plates

I think plastic plates are fine, most of the dinner parties we host or attend have around 50 people (we usually host multiple families at once) we all get plastic plates and nobody gets offended. I have to admit I feel more privileged with a fine china plate it puts a different atmosphere in the room especially when your all dolled up. Our fine china is usually reserved for smaller group of guests, because we don't have that many plates and glasses to go around.

Re: Paper Plates

I love disposables or may be hate washing dishes lol i was just saying this to my husband ke we should get disposables for ramadan, a lot of my time is wasted in washing dishes! :halo:

I dont mind disposables at dawats at all, but i prefer the sturdy ones.

Re: Paper Plates

i don't like eating out of paper plates. i cant handle my food on that but i never look down on paper plates. ye they are cheap, low priced but why would you look down upon something that is cheap priced? what kind of attitude is that?
if it works fine with you go ahead.

Re: Paper Plates

I am sure there are many people who enjoy dishes out there...I am not one of them.

Re: Paper Plates

ps. I hate washing dishes too and I hate doing laundry as well. However, I never thought it is a low job or kaam walas job.

Re: Paper Plates

I eat with my hands. I cup my hands, pour the saalen into them, and then scoop into mouth. Seemples, no paper plates or washing up to do.

Re: Paper Plates

You should use the rotti as a plate instead. Your hands will stay clean.

Re: Paper Plates

If she keeps the kitchen clean enough to where you can lick the floors, she doesn't need to worry about precious curry slipping through her fingers or using roti as a plate.
