Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
4) those people(who gave the honor) might be looking at some other work by the same author.
I mean is there a slight possibility of that being so?
To me what he did was wrong. Period. But if you look beyond that he might have other things to say. As already seen most of the people don't even know what the hoha is all about, how do you expect them to know about liturature if there was any in the other books. 99% are just jumping up and down for nothing, without even reading the book.
My point is that on which bases they included this particular book in his honoured work?
Hareem the portions which you have given where is the insult to the prophet in that. What actually he said to be a gusthakh e risalat. Copying and pasting is very easy to do, same as following rather than leading. So people, think about it and atleast read what was said against the prophet instead of just jumping on the wagon because mullah so and so said it.
. I still don't know what he exactly said about the Prophet(SAW), but I know he doesn't deserve any death sentence according to the knowledgeable Islamic scholars.
I quoted these lines to show people(muslims and non-muslims) that he did abuse them(British) who have given him the title, And I'm sure those Britishs are as ignorant as those mullahs who are giving death fatwas against him.
Salman Rushdie has not only offended muslims but he also offended black and white human-beings.
Re: Pakistan’s reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
Actually his book is all fictious and he has used a character with a name quite similar to Prophet saw. The ghustakhi part is where he insinuates that ayats which got mansookh after revelation were in the first place revealed by three idols and naaouzbillah Prophet was tricked. I am of the opinion that respect is a two way street, you give some to get some. Allah prohibits muslims from badmouthing idols. I think according to any religion or any docorum of humanity his books were merely inflammatory. His books didnt bring to light any problems he had understanding religion it was at best design to insult to gain some leverage in literati world.Which it sadly did. Anyone worth his salt can see his work is no literary achievement. Besides this award is not a literary award. He has received those earlier on. This is a very much political award. And if Britishers and Britain has the right to criticise muslim countries on various counts, they should be able to deal with this fair bit of justified uproar. There was no message in this book, i am quite averse to reading anyother work of his. Honoring such characters as rushdie and causing grief to thousand of law abiding nobel muslims was an extremely churlish act.
One can discredit a muslim voicing such thoughts as mine and blame it to the religious mindset. However many non muslim Britishers are in my opinion honest enought to see this award for it was. Give this a read if you have time enough.
that is certainly a matter of opinion. and everybody is entitled to appreciate any authors work. but with the ongoing world politics this appears to be a little more than an innocent blunder.
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
^and christians actually use referenes from this fictious book in their debates. All the credit of making this book famous goes to the " hoo haa" of muslims.
Non muslims only know that we muslims have told them about "satanic verses"........they don't know what Salman Rushdie has to say about them.
He also abused Indian god Ram.....but majority don't know that.

People who are getting the money aren't the ones complaining. And it's not like the Brit media is ignorant of where the money is going (i.e. lining the pockets of the army elite).
My stand is as soon as UK and the queen returns all that they stole from Muslim Kings of India we will return the aid. Kohinor also should be returned what he wears if it proudly. Until then UK can bite me!
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
Those who are giving death fatwas and those who are honouring Salman Rushdie with titles have surely not read the book.:)
This reminds me of the time when mohammed's cartoon was published and nobody had actually seen it........they just went running around burning property and killing ppl. In US they still telecast the Southpark episode of Mohammed, Jesus and Moses and nobody makes any noise abt it.......I guess nobody ever has any info abt it. I am going to e-mail the NINJA CHICKS abt it and see what happens !!
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
by the way how many of u have read salman rushdi's books?
when they awarded sir title to allama iqbal we loved it. but when salman we hate it. we are abusing minorities every day in pakistan ..burning churches and temples, bible and other books...thats is all fine..no body talks abt it. i have not read him but whats wrong with that..every body has the right of expression does not matter who is that!
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
Muslim world's reaction, as usualy, has been overly emotional, and violent, and will not accomplish anything other than to scare more people about Islam.
The government's reaction, to issue its deep regrets to the British government, were enough. There is no need to start calling the person who assasinates this guy "blessed". These same guys making these statements are in no hurry to fly over to Britain and kill him.
He lives in a country where the law is not Islamic law. Therefore, no muslim has the right to touch him or kill him, as you have to respect the law of the land.
By all this rohna dohna, this guy is probably more popular than he would have been if muslims had just ignored it and went on with their business.
Somewhere here it has been mentioned that Britain nationals, Caucasians, Jews, Blacks, etc have also been insulted in his works. I am not sure if this is true, but if it is, then let me exemplify for you the difference between the dumb muslim and the smart muslim:
dumb muslim: Down with this man, death upon him, may he rot in hell, blessings to the person who kills him!
smart muslim: Hey World, did you know Salman Rusdie is an anti-semite, and hates black people?

enjoy
Even if he did abuse any hindu God, I guess Hindus are pretty much tolerant and could take an insult in a proper way. That's what a religions are all about......being tolerant, respectful and helpful to others.

I appreciate your level of tolerance.............
Chahay Queen Rushdie ko "Sir" ka title de ya "khotay" ka title de.....hmen kya?
May be Queen got happy that Rushdie " joined " with her(had sex with her) in Satanic verses....lol

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
^ Then why do you resort to using dirty words when talking about someone else? That's not the Prophet's way, you know.
And where did I use "dirty" words for Salman Rushdie?
All I said was " If Salman gets the title of "sir" or even title of "khota"(donkey) from Britishs, we muslims have nothing to do with it, because we don't have to call him Sir.
I don't think I'm calling him Sir or Khotha(donkey) anywhere, hope you get my point.May be "khabees"(evil) is more appropriate word then khota.:)
That's not the Prophet's way, you know
My fellow muslimah, Yes, My beloved Prophet Muhammad(may peace and blessings be upon him) never used any harsh or rude word towards anyone. But Our religion Islam has given us the right that If a person has done anything to us we can do the same with him/her but it is better to forgive.. What Satan Rushdie has written about us, I'm doing the least in return. He has called us (maa bahan ki gaaliyan) but I'm only calling him Khabees(evil) and Satan(rejected).
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
Keep crying on the non-issues, Pakistan or any of Muslim countries protest to UK or any other power doesn't means anything.
Remember the law of nature, One don't have power, doesn't have the right to have opinoin as well.
I dont know how beggars like Pakistan and others dare to question the judgement of queen, if Muslims of UK are so offended by this, then they have right to express their feelings to their queen, but how come a beggar of Pakistan, who owes every ounce of his flesh to these people can even think of questioning it.
If one love Prophet (PBUH) to such extent, express it by following his path, can all the protestors or any one of the protestor can do it! i don't think so, so stop all this hypocracy and try to not to insult the Prophet (PBUH) by calling yourself HIS(PBUH) follower
Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)
Would be interesting to survey.... how many of posters here have read "Satanic Verses", the so called controversial book from Rushdie??
Saddly, even in India the book is banned for pseudo-secularism morales.
Surprisingly, a few reputed journalists who have read the book find it amusing and more related to dream narrations with strong linkage to old Bombay and bollywood characters.
