Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

I can't tell from your post if you are in favour of protests or against them?

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Rushdie has abused and cursed everyone in this book, muslims, christians, hindus, Britishs, white women, blacks etc..........kisi ko nahi chora. And we muslims are crying only for ourselves.

and about the dream narrations......was salman dreaming when he wrote the book?:D

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

do we have to pick sides every time, or should we be analyzing the situation and try to fix it

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

No, I don't think that I've mentioned any thing about picking sides. Your point wasn't clear in your post and I just wanted ome more explaination.

I personally think muslims should not give any importance to this title given by Britishs. But muslims should tell whites and blacks, hindus, and Britishs and Londeners, what Rushdie has written about them in his honoured book.
As those people haven't read the book either. And if some muslim wants to read it, he/she should read it online or by other means instead of wasting money. And also read the comments of the Scholars on it like Ahmad Deedat.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Well I asked a simple question, has anyone of us read "satanic verses".
I couldn't, becuase book is still banned in India.

rahi baat cursing kee....I have read reviews by journalists in Indian newspapers few years back, and best I can remember through those reviews is it's more humor and critical in typical bollywood style, it includes other Indian religions apart from Islam....so banning a book may be justified considering the public sentiments...but issuing Fatwas for his death is another example of intolerance shown by "touchy" Islamists who have never read or understood the "art of language".

Criticizing or Satiring/caricaturing religion may be a "death penalty" crime in Islam, but how it can be so rigidly employed in a secular country like India, Salaman Rushdie case was the best example of pseudo-seularism.

Btw....Da-Vinci Code can be termed as offensive by many Evangelical Jihadis, still the novel and movie was not banned in any Christian country.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

see here is the difference between a developed nation and destroyed nation. I agree most of Non-Muslim might have not red it, but it is not possible that all of them have not red it, they must have and they come to conclusion that its not worth wasting time for a guy like Rushdie.

but we are buring our selves out, wasting our precious time on proving the action of Queen and Rashdie wrong!!! tell me if this guy is eve worth talking of! all the fame and everything he have is because of us, if we let go this kind of things and concentrate our selves to get more knowledge and power, no one in this world will even dare to Question a muslim yet speaking of Most Noble Personality in Muslim world.

(hope u have got the point)

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

may be you can read online.

Yes, I agree with you, but if you listen or read Ahmed Deedat, a great muslim Scholar of comparitive religions from India, you will come to know that Ahmad Deedat is against these fatwas.

And rahi baat art ki to Pornography is also Art. But we don't allow it, do we? I think India as a secular country has done the great job by banning this book, full of swearing and offending language. I think India has prefered Values over Art.

As I said before that knowledgeable muslim Scholars are against the death fatwa.
No, it wasn't banned in any christian country bcoz christians themselves make fun of their God, if you watch their TV programmes. And to be honest I don't know anything about da vinci code.:)

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Dear Saavan the anti_Pakistan dude.........................

Please bring any evidence to the forum where
1-people LOVED sir award to Iqbal.
2-Abusing of minorities in Pakistan.
3-alleged burning of churches, bible and other books (what books?) related to this topic.

I feel you have an agenda to be on this forum to talk against Pakistan.............Good Luck.

Majority of muslims do not like this man Rushdi....................for a reason. You go ahead and love the man and go for it for your reason.

I think Muslims need to be heard and their opinion must be counted. If they say that a person is not good one must not automatically labels them as 'orthodox',
** 'hardliners', 'extremists' etc.**

'Freedom' should be for all equally and not just for the selected to voice their opinion...........

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

The mullahs should take a chill pill and shut up. They're simply kicking muslims with these fatwa pronouncements. more than anything else, there should a jihad to get rid of these mullahs

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

^ I have given up on this dude............
But off course...................................Maayoosi (hopelessness) is a Sin.........so I am still hopeful.:)

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

lol

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Has this non-issue died down yet?

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

nope , ur inquiry is adding life to it.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

I don't know what kind of Urdu you grew up with, but just the fact that you're posting the words Khota, and Khabees reeks of cheapness and I'm frankly DISGUSTED by those words. If you're really into Islam, you should know that even using these words in your dialogue is unnecessary.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Have YOU read it?
when they awarded sir title to allama iqbal we loved it. but when salman we hate it.
And the common thing between Allama Iqbal and Salman Rushdie is?
we are abusing minorities every day in pakistan ..burning churches and temples, bible and other books...thats is all fine..no body talks abt it. i have not read him but whats wrong with that..every body has the right of expression does not matter who is that!
Really? Can you please show me one example of each for yesterday? Thanks.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood

Is it your suggestion or Rushdie's?

You have no right to talk on his behalf.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

Fair enough :D

Re: Pakistan’s reaction on Rushdie knighthood

Here comes supporter of Rushdie. sigh.

What OTHER books are you talking about, except “Midnight’s Children”?

I have neither read Satanic Verses nor Midnight’s Children. But there are many who are saying that Rushdie does not deserve to be knighted based on his work.

http://www.atlanticfreepress.com/content/view/1875/81/

“But I am astounded at the decision to give him a knighthood. Why? His corpus of work is just not that good. Midnight’s Children was readable, but a bit formulaic. Rushdie’s prose has all the cutting edge of a damp cloth. Satanic Verses may be shocking, but has little else to recommend it.”

The only reason he is knighted is because the offense he caused to Muslims.

Re: Pakistan's reaction on Rushdie knighthood (merged)

No I grew up with urdu and punjabi....................may be khota is a bit harsh for non-punjabis. (its like saying ass in English or Khar in Urdu and Himar in Arabic) Mauhtrima..........You call an evil person "khabees" in Arabic..........word "khabees" is in the holy Quran and it means evil, kabhi Quran bhi parh liya karen.

A person who has knowledge(like Rushdie), surely he's like a donkey(gadha, ass, khota, himar or khar) who's got all the burden of the books(knowledge) but doesn't understand them. May God protect us and generations after us from these khbais.
