I fail to understand why so much fuss?

I mean knighthood is not a prophecy or jannat kee basharat. Its a title given by non-muslims, why should we care so much? how is this effecting our faith? (unless we think that everyone with sir title is pohancha howa buzarg). If we have to protest anyway, why cant we do it peacefully? why cant we submit the resolution/petition to British high commissioner showing our dislike on the matter? why do we always have to burn the cars, bikes and shops of our own Muslim brothers? Am I missing something?

i think it would have been better if muslim nations had addressed the issue uniformly. if something is disrecpectful to us and is against common human decency and culture why not protest it? I personally feel it imperative as a muslim to shun the action but as i said there are better ways of doing it than our esteemed minister's.

I'm sorry, but on this one I'm with Rushdie. He has every right to write whatever he likes and Brits can give all the titles they want to. It's a matter of freedom of speech & if you don't like what someone else writes, you have NO right to kill him. It simple as that.

BTW, I'm curious to know...all those people who are protesting...how exactly has his writings hurt them? If you don't like what someone else write don't read it.

hey i never said kill him or anyone else . read my post i said protest in a tasteful manner. a statement would have been sufficient. why? in reply to that why not? if rushdie has the right to write whatever he please muslims should have the right to launch a protest. and besides isnt blair mouthing off at all hours about muslims should present islam. we sure as he11 can say that this award was nothing but a mischief.
to those who say how it affects our faith, where do you guys fit stand for what you believe in with this approach?if i feel something is wrong and disrespectful i reserve the right to say so .

What this buffoon of a Religious Minister did by saying what Rushdie wrote means that suicide bombings are legitimate in England is more offensive to Islam than what Rushdie wrote in Satanic Verses.

Islam is a peaceful religion which values life. So what this Religious Minister said is totally against Islam.

If Muslims were any more educated, they would be protesting what this Minister said rather than what Rushdie wrote.

Of course it is not a prophecy but an honorary title. There are who really deserve such honors but most of the time they are ignored by the higher authorities. Why does it matter? Well I think because of the all political situation in the world. To achieve a knighthood and be honored for great works of literature , art or other accomplishments in life is truly magnificent.

Personally, I am proud to Salman Rushdie as been recognized for his contributions and I am scratching my head at all the nasty and nefarious condemenations bestowed upon a writer who has done nothing but enlightened and entertained with his works.

To me what he did was wrong. Period. But if you look beyond that he might have other things to say. As already seen most of the people don't even know what the hoha is all about, how do you expect them to know about liturature if there was any in the other books. 99% are just jumping up and down for nothing, without even reading the book.

Hareem the portions which you have given where is the insult to the prophet in that. What actually he said to be a gusthakh e risalat. Copying and pasting is very easy to do, same as following rather than leading. So people, think about it and atleast read what was said against the prophet instead of just jumping on the wagon because mullah so and so said it.
