This is my first ever post to this lovely forum!! I need some help! I am british Citizen and I wanna get one off those Pakistani ID cards that allows you to travel to Pak. without a Visa. There are two types, POC and NICOP. Which one do i need to apply for? I know that it might be the POC card, because I am not a citizen of pak and never have been, but my parents were both born there. My sisters have an ID card (dont know which one) and they are also born in UK like me, they said they paid about 10.00 GBP for theirs, but the POC is about 75.00GBP!! I am assuming they have the NICOP, which is for Pakistani Citizens living abroad - I am not a Pak. citizen living abroad, as far as pak. is concerned, i am a “foreigner” of pak. origin. Which one shall I apply for!?!?!?!?!

If money or fee is not the issue here then you should get the right one which is POC.
I’m british too, but my dad also had pakistani passports made for us before (so much easier to use them if you are travelling to pakistan) and so we were told that we should make the NICOP cards, they cost… I cant remember, ours came back in about 2 weeks.
In UK the are 2 pakistani embassies where the cards are made one is in manchester and the other in birmingham, you go in (make sure u take proper documents) and basically they fill out ur details, check ur passport take a pic and tell u that the card will be sent out to u
In fact i think u can even apply online now, here’s the link for it:
It's pretty straight forward: If you were a dual-national, ie UK and Pakistan, you would need a NICOP. Since you are not a Pakistani citizen, you will need a POC. I also got a POC made for my son and myself.
Hey y'all - well I am none the wiser! I spoke with my moma and she said that I need to apply for the NICOP card, she said that because my father is a Pakistani Citizen and has a pak. passport, then that auto means that I am one too!! The reason why I am so worried about this, is because if i get a NICOP card, which my mother is forcing me to do then that would mean that I am an offical Pakistani citizen. Even though I dont mind it, I dont want being a Pakistani Citizen to affect my Canadian PR application in anyway! They might consider me a Pakistani and make my journey through getting Canadian PR more difficult! Thats my main concern....
Thats another thing that I dont understand whats the use of the Card if you have a Pakistani Passport? Why are they making Pakistani passport holders carry these cards, as you dont need a pakistani entrance visa if you have a Pakistani passport anyway?!?!!?

hope that helps, it tells u all the info and the application form is there
Hmmmm..... strange! What if i was a Pakistani Citizen living in Pakistan and I needed a passport to travel other countries? I would require visa's to practically any country that I go to - Pakistanis cannot enter a foreign country using just a Pakistani ID card! My Fiance (oaki livinig in paki) was told that he has to have this ID card before he is allowed to apply for a Passport! Strange....
Actually if u have the card then you no longer need a pakistani passport either, besides our pakistani passports had run out

a national id card is used for many other purposes in pakistan including real estate contracts, college/uni admissions, work etc etc etc.
dont think of it as a travel document, only people that it helps in travel is ppl who are citizens of UK for example, who want to go to Pakistan and dont want to ahve to get a visa each time.

what he meant was that if you were liing in UK and had UK and Pakistani passport and used your pakistai passport to travel to Pakistan. now if you have a NICOP then you do not need the paskistani passport, u can use your british passport for travel and show NICOP to immigration in pakistan.

in that case dont apply for the NICOP until after u have your canadian immigration. its no big deal, get a visa to visit Pakistan for the time being. and if you want, you can apply for it later. so in your canadian immigration case, just because you are eligible for citizenship of Pakistan does not mean that you are a citizen because you have not done anything to turn that eligibility into official citizenship documents.
All British Citizens can be dual or multinational & should apply for NICOP.
POC is not for British Citizens, unless specifically told by PK High Commission.
Why? I thought NICOP is only for Pakistani citizens living abroad. Just because the British government allows British citizens of Pakistani origin to hold a Pakistani citizenship at the same time, doesn't necessarily mean that they are Pakistani citizens automatically.
My situation is different, because I am an Austrian national. And the Austrian government doesn't allow dual-nationality at all. So although my father is a Pakistani national, I am not. And therefore I went for a POC.
well it happened to be true, if father has NICOP or CNIC or Pakistani Passport, then children get automatic Pakistan citizenship even they bron abroad! POC is mostly people from 3rd generation and doesnt have any parent who has Pakistani Id to prove it, they will go for POC!

I think so, cause i'm from 3rd generation and i have POC, in my case, only my grandfather was originally pakistani born, so i feel lucky to be able to get the POC, infact, i already have BNO and SAR passports :) POC gives me a third nationality. Love Pakistan!!!
