See, there. So, @caligirl, do you find it difficult to have your families blend in and any other similar complications?
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
i was declined a rishta in Pakistan just because i'm an Indian and they did NOT wanna ship their daughter to India. what a lame excuse! :)
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
My sister is Pakistani and my BIL is Indian.
They have been happily married for over 5 years and have two kids. Mashallah.
I know toooooooooooooo many couples like that.
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
Even I know only of Indian girls married to Paki men. But these all were soo scandalous, as they all were Hindus who ran away, converted and got married. So no one on their family speaks to them and haven't seen them since as now they obviously come to any of the gujju community functions !!
Lol they all had to change their names as well !! And one girl was the most quite, obedient types from a very very respectable and rich family ( and snooty so secretly I'm very happy she did tht ) , when she ran away everyone was in shock !! Well they managed to get her back and immediately shipped her off to India, she ran away again after 2 yrs !!! Boy that is some determination !!
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
I do know one such couple, girl from Karachi and boy from Mumbai but its much less common than Indian girls marrying Pakistani men.

Sir jee
It is not a lame excuse, when you consider if one marry the girl in India then they vertually need to forget about her.
Visiting her would be so difficult to get through visa process, what would happen she (Khuda Nakusta) if has some problem where she need us, we could not be there for her.
My family has quite a few Indian/Pakistani couples (granted they have all been settled in the US since the early '80's) as we still have a branch of family who were born and raised in Hyderabad Deccan and one branch of the family who migrated to KHI after a partition). I don't understand what the big deal is, my chacha and cousins in KHI go visit Hyderabad India every year, I personally love being from an Indo/Pak mixed family, it's the best of both worlds!! :D
Your are talking about couple settle in 3rd country, obviously no one have any problem. Problem only when they want to relocate to india.
Then family members from Pakistan would have serious problem visiting them, I do have my relatives married in india, I know when one of them passed away the extended family from Pakistan unable to attend funeral.

EXACTLY...this is what i said in my initial post...there is a serious problem with visas. most marriages between Indian and Pakistani are happening overseas...NOT in India. India gives a hard time to Pakistanis even to visit India, let alone settle down there permanently...it's next to impossible! it's ridiculous!!!
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
The funny thing this strict visa policy is not limited to Pakistan Passport holders, but to everyone who or his parents / Grand parents born in Pakistan regardless of passport they carry.
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
by indian, do you mean hindu? or just indian by nationality and still muslim?

of course, **Indian Muslim who has an Indian Citizen and *LIVES in India.* the problem is with the immigration to India. India does NOT give permanent residency to any Pakistani which is wrong. a man or a woman must be able to sponsor her spouse to immigrate to India to live with him/her.**

TRUE...sometimes, i have seen, that people do NOT disclose this info on their FIRST application for visa which is a risky decision. if caught it can be a very serious thing.
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
well not india, but i know a few couples where the husband is indian and the girl is pakistani. They have difficulty visiting india because of the wife's connection with pakistan (either pakistani passport or parents born in pakistan). its ridiculous.

*EXACTLY! this is why Pakistani parents hesitate to marry their daughter to an Indian. i was myself declined once because i'm an indian by birth but a Canadian by naturalization. i understood their reservations. *
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
^ thats dumb. Its not like they are going to live in India. So they cant visit, no big deal. Lucky for the girl - she wont have meet all the inlaw khandaan (lol).
I married a bengali and had no issues with getting a visa when i went in Jan.
Re: Pakistani girl married to an Indian guy?
I remember my father once wanted me to get married to any of the indian cousins to strengthen the family ties which were weekend as my grand parents migrated to pakistan and I raised such a fuss about it. When my dad asked me the reason I bluntly said I don’t want my kids to cheer for Dhoni ![]()
