Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

What about NWA where the army has signed an agreement with the taleban there?

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Todays statement by Kyani sounds statement of a loosing general . " Aman ko moqa dena chahyee " If it was sooo than why they keep fighting for such long time ??

Don't know about it! Share any link please

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Actually, army has never been serious about fighting Taliban. They still see them as strategic assets that they can control and use them in Afghanistan or in Kashmir. Another problem is that many in army think like Taliban. So, its a mindset and unless you change that mindset nothing will ever change.

Here’s TTP’s views about yesterday’s killings:

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

They are exhausted but not defeated. From whatever I've read and hear, Pakistan establishments is more concerned about reducing its workload by at least having Afghan Taliban out of the picture and breaking the support system between some minor groups that operate within Pakistan. I mean (thank God million times) that suicide bombing has significantly reduced since past few months, now it's all down to some high profile targets and well planned terrorist activities in certain regions and that's something army has to tackle and tackle it wisely. They cannot appease these animals till the end but they cannot afford to agitate the situation either. I don't situation is as simple and straight forward as we think.

PS: India has a conventional army, just like the mighty USA and NATO forces, Pakistan army too is only trained to fight conventional army in a proper all guns out war.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Yeah yeah yeah, apparently Gen Kiyani is also a PTI worker because his latest statement reads: "peace should be given a chance". So can people just stop harping the same old BS and making false allegation and accept the reality. It's the armed forces that want to change the face of this war!

A three months old civilian government is responsible for the mess the army created in last 12 years.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Its just ironic how timely these strikes are.

sad news

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Nothing to do with timing, taleban are carrying these attacks for the past decade now. We are divided on how to tackle them, but they are very clear on their objectives.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Remember Wali Ullah drone murder? That was another timely attack. As per my understanding some factions of taliban don't want dialogues either and hence this attack to rile Army up.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

have you read their demands for peace talks?

If not go through their facebook page, and see their comments on yesterday’s murders.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

This is a million dollar point...

Our army, our establishment, our intelligence agencies still playing good taliban bad taliban....

still viewing some of these animals as strategic assets to use them against india

Among lower ranks and soldiers, we have a different problem...a lot of them have ideological sympathies for talibans ... for them talibans are mujahids who are fighting against Sheetan USA and who are fighting to make our country islamic and bring the country under sharia code

we are in deep sh---i--tt!

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

The establishment has brainwashed the people and the army for far too long. The crisis that we have now is due to their wrong policies.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

I have. Some of them are laughable. But this is a war and war has a dialogue option always. Their factions won’t let a peaceful dialogue either. They want blood. But we just cannot keep on fighting this war. There has to be a different strategy.

Main problem is that our tribal belt is not with us. And this is what needs to be done. This is the most important factor in this war/dialogue that who these tribal leaders end up siding with. This is why drones are such a pain for political leadership.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

End result is peace cannot be achieved when the state is on the backfoot and TTP are on top. Negotiations are always done from a point of strength. Imran Khan's continuous statements "this is not our war" seem very simplistic/hilarious now. It might not have been our war a decade ago, but now it is, the sooner he realizes it the better (for his party as well as Pakistan).

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

This bit I agree with. And in SWA this is true.

IK has changed his stance and made it clear that only thing making this america's war is drones. Pakistan cannot own this war fully as long as drones are around according to him. Its simplistic but as per tribal sentiments, true.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

i think now the miltary will lose it's patience with those Talibaan and might initiate action to avenge the death of one of it's own..."public marti hai marti rahe, apnaa banda na mare, bas!"

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

On September 9, during the inauguration of the Jashan -i-Kumrat; a 10 day long sports festival, Maj-Gen Sanaullah, the commander of security forces in Malakand Division, had said that the Army has secured the western borders of the country by thwarting the nefarious design of the terrorists. It is an irony that yesterday, Maj-Gen Sanaullah, along with Lt.Col Tauseef and L/Nk Imran were killed in IED attack, which was claimed by the TTP. This is the not the first time these terrorists have chosen a cowardly way to target our soldiers. Our condolences go out the families of Maj-Gen Sanaullah, Lt.Col Tauseef and LanceNaik Imran. We stand by the people of Pakistan in their time of grief and support their efforts to counter terrorism.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

From the same article: even worse was the PPP response. This party itself seems to believe that it has become irrelevant.

“The main opposition PPP even failed to issue a formal condemnation of the incident. An aide to Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah, who is currently abroad, quoted him as saying that the incident could sabotage the outcome of the APC which had called for a peaceful end to the ongoing militancy in the country.”
