Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Muted response from PML-N, PTI - DAWN.COM

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Allah o Akbar…

i say why? why are these parties so afraid of TTP? why are they so pro taliban? what is Nawaz sharif problem? trying to save punjab from these animals?

and Imran khan? The PTI leadership only condemned the attack and offered condolences to the bereaved families but said nothing about the perpetrators?

PTI instead urged the government to expedite its efforts to implement recommendations of the APC which it believed would help the country re-determine its role in the war on terror. can you beleieve this?

The PTI statement was also found lacking in hitting out at those who had carried out the attack. It only highlighted how the military and civilians had suffered because of the war against terrorism. …

i have only word for both PTI and PMLN

baighairat!!!

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Strange thing is that there is NO response from PPP what so ever.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

good point....

PPP and ANP are anti taliban and want operation...but APC has out them on backfoot...they dont want to go against everyone...

also dont forget our people are also pro-taliban...they always try to justify such incidences by blaming them on USA and conspiracy theories...so looks like political parties are playing safe

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

I think for the time being the ruling parties should hold back their desires and prolong the peace talks. Let the terrorists expose themselves fully, and then use their actions as a precursor for developing the consensus of the public for a full fledged operations against them. There should be no negotiations with terrorists especially when we are bogged down and they are on top.

Actually there is…

Zardari warns against appeasing militants - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: Condemning the killing of army officers in a terrorist attack in Upper Dir on Sunday, former president Asif Ali Zardari urged people to guard against extremist mindset and appeasing militants.

In a message on the International Democracy Day, he paid tribute to all those who had sacrificed their lives and endured imprisonment and exile to protect and promote democracy and warned the people against “new forms of threats to democracy”.

“The greatest… threat to democracy emanates from the militant mindset [that] seeks to impose their agenda through force,” he said.

“If there has been any doubt about the futility of appeasing the militants these must be removed by the incident in Upper Dir today.”

He was referring to the death of Maj Gen Sanaullah, Lt Col Tauseef Ahmed and Lance Naik Irfanullah who were killed when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

Mr Zardari, the chief of the main opposition Peoples Party, also warned the people against yet another dimension of the threat to democracy.

In the past, he said, dictators and demagogues forcibly uprooted democratic structures but now threat to the will of the people emanated from imperceptible but systematic encroachment upon parliament, the repository of the will of the people.

“Democracy-loving people… must be on the guard to protect the constitutional domain of each state organ and not permit the encroachment on any institution by another,” he urged.

Congratulating democratic forces, particularly in Pakistan, on the International Day of Democracy, he said, “It is a day for all democratic forces to reaffirm commitment to democracy and to guard against direct and indirect threats to democratic order and stability.”

He paid tribute to former prime ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto as icons of democracy and countless leaders and activists of different political parties who had rendered sacrifices for the cause of democracy.

“If dictatorship has not been able to take roots in Pakistan it is because of the huge sacrifices of all democracy-loving people.”

Mr Zardari expressed the hope that the observance of the International Democracy Day would strengthen the pro-democracy forces throughout the world and in Pakistan.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

they are talking from the position of strength while the Govt. is negotiating from the position of weakness…what do you expect?

force must be met with force…period!

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

Pak Army is fighting with them for 10 years and I think they are exhausted.

Response to this assualt will determine the future whether we gonna bow down to them so they clearly be the winner of this war or fight them to have further losses.

Another option is to be very clear that all type of TTP are enemy and fight with them like will be doing with India in case of war.

Right now Army them self are fighting with some groups and maintaining relations with others.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

There is no more talian have any support from Army!! There are two kind of major groups one suported by PTI/JI and other one by nawaz bros.

Re: Pakistani General killed in Upper Dir

sad news indeed but then who else is responsible for this mess other than PA itself. wat are our intelligence agencies doing? drinking bhang? these militants stashed so much arsenal in swat and nobody knew it until operation started. we know there are militants..gangs/criminals hiding under the taliban disguise. if we know it why call an APC. why not take them on and send them to where they came from.
the whole state is so confused. Isn't raising weapons against the state a treason?. Its just a matter of how sincere the govt. is to solve this problem.
