Yes we are muslims, but before muslims we were Kashmiri. I dont liek this Pak mentality where the think that there culture only started when they became muslims and before that they were a bunch of barbarians!?!?!?!
Kashmiri culture extends far before Islam came to our area, and you know what, Im damn proud of all our pre-Islamic culture too! Either way, Kashmir has always had a VERY liberal approach to Islam anyways. Women have ALWAYS enjoyed equal rights as men in Kashmir. You’ll never find a Kashmiri women in burka, EVER!

I am a Kashmiri. I am also Pakistani and I am proud to be a Pakistani. I am a Pakistani first and then a Kashmiri. There are some idiots that are trying to divide Kashmir from the rest of Pakistan, but over future and our destiny lies with Pakistan. I am no better than any other Pakistani, just coming from Kashmir does not make me better. The better Pakistani is the one that does good deeds irrespective of which part of the country that he comes from or his complexion.

kashmiri’s have had a liberal view of islam, as is indicative of it’s history and the people, and not to mention the school of thought we have chosen to adopt. and yea, the history and culture of kashmir extends wayyyyy before kashmir. everytime i think about the kinds of people that have come to settle in the valleys of kashmir over the hundreds of years, it marvels me. and again, when i think about those genes, and that some of those genes might be in me, that not only amazes me, but makes me proud as well.

my loyalties lie towards my country first of all. punjab can take care of itself…and is another completely different issue that can raise BP’s as well. but at the same time, i am completely in the favor of any decision that will bring about the good of Kashmir, be it complete independence, or being a part of Pakistan. as it is, it seems like complete independence is the way to go.

i dunno why you seem to think that i prefer punjab over kashmir. i’m not about to divide and make one part of my background more important than the other one.

It has been the greatest fraud in South Asian history that Pakistan has exploited the pro-independence sentiments of the Kashmiri people in order to hurt India, without any regard for the interests of the Kashmiri people.

After fanning the flames of violence for 17 years, Pakistan's rulers have now decided to shut down support for Kashmiri groups and are in fact collaborating with the Indians to have Kashmir's resistance groups eliminated.

The Kashmiri people have now realised Pakistan's duplicity and will never ever rise up at its instigation.

what is this? a new trend? ask a pakhtun, and they will be proud to accept you into their brotherhood, even if ur like half a pakhtun. and yet for some reason, some kashmiris can't swallow the fact that a lot of them are from other regions, and live in other parts of the world.

oh btw...i do hope that when you say kashmir, you are talking about the area north of pakistan, and are not discluding jammu, and other areas of kashmir that are mapped under the name of kashmir.

Yes I am an Azad Kashmiri, does that make me less of a Kashmiri than you.You are an Indian agent!. I remember my grandad telling me how happy they were when Pakistan came into being. They fought and managed to rid themselves of Hindu rule. We have peace in Azad Kashmir while our fellow Kashmiris are still fighting for independence from hindu rule. You speak for no-one except for perhaps the Indian government.

Thats an Indian idea to begin with to weaken and divide us. Besides Kashmir is not a viable proposition without either India or Pakistan. It is better to have 20% of a million than 100% of 100,000.

wunderkind, I dont agree, I think after indepdence, the best option for Kashmir is Pakistan. Atleast herei n Northern kashmir the army, police and government are all made up of local Kashmiris and not outsiders. example, Northern Light ifnantry(the main army force here) is madeup almost entierly of Kashmiris.
