Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

It’s so comical to see so many Pakistanis try to act like they’re Arabs, smoking Shisha and pretending to be into Arab music. I also find so many Pakistanis who exploit the most tenuous of links to Kashmir to claim that they are Kashmiri.

Why are some Pakistanis not happy with their own ethnicity?

I as a Kashmiri find it quite amusing that people should want to adopt my ethnicity, given our current status.

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

how is smoking shisha and liking a particular music mean you're tryign to act like that ethnicity?

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

Almost all Pakistanis and Kashmiris share the same genes- we together are far fair-skinned and caucasian looking than our next door neighors- India and Bangladesh. I think Indians are jealous of us cuz we look so different than them.. Pakistanis can easily pass off as Arabs or Italians whereas Indians can’t :hehe:

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

wrong, Kashmiris have a unique distinct culture which is different from anywhere in our area. Punjabi and sindhi genes are more simmilar to northern indians.

Its kind of flattering that non-Kashmiris try to calim to be Kashmiris, this just proves how much our culture is wanted by others.

wunderkind where are you from? I am a Kashmiri hailing from Naltar in Northern Kashmir(northern areas)

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

Agreed! Listening to a certain kind of music or enjoying sheesha doesn't make you anything but the fact remains that Pakistanis are always hiding from their Pakistani roots. When I was in school any girl with a light skin was either somehow Afghani Irani Kashmiri never Pakistani! True Pakistan is only 60yrs old and we can all trace our heritage back to where ever but why can't we be Pakistani and proud of it?!

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

so how would you define a kashmiri?

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

Dardic people's are usualy classified as Kashmiris, this included people from kashmir Valley, khowars, baltis, wakhis, hunzakut, brushos, kalasha mun, gilgitis etc.

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

actually i dunno any girl who does that. I do get mistaken for lots of other ethnicities (hispanic mostly)..ill take it as a compliment if someone says i look pathaani/afghani  (but thas only coz i’m mistaken for hispanic usually :()..it doesnt mean i’m “ashamed” of being paki

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

cHey Hey I was never mistaken for a Pathani..............only Hipanic

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

what about those that do not live in kashmir? those that live in punjab? or sindh? or UK or Canada or whatever?

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

I have noticed this, and Im curious, why do punjabies think its a complement when they get called anything but their own ethnciity? And especially if they get called a western/northern pakistani??!?!? Im very curious about this!

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

well noones ever guessed i'm punjabi.. I still think Pathaani/afghani is better than being mistaken for Hispanic.

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

The amount of Kashmiri's in punjab/sindh and other places is neglible. A Kashmiri is simply someone who can DIRECTLY(not indirectly as some peopel try to say) claim Dardic Ancestory.

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

Wrong! Most of the Punjabi Pakistanis can be mistaken for Hispanic/Iranian or even Italian! Kashmiris-Arabs-Iranians-Turkish-Afghan-Muslim Punjabis are essentially the same cuacuasian gene pool. Indians, on the other hand are largely dravidians or Australoid and Black(African) mix.

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

haha..so u r not proud of being a pakistani? why do u want to be classified an Italian..any rishtedari with mussolini?

Re: Pakistani Arab and Kashmiri wannabes

Kashmir has a unique and distinct culture that we are VERY proud of, and i guess its flatering to an extent that other people wnat to claim our culture, but in the end, it us who are the rightfull owners of our culture :)
