With ppl and somewhat selectors too insisting to play three allrounders, I don't see any test match will see the Tea-break of the 4th day. And I am serioius. Playing Indian spinners on their home pitches is not a game. Pakistan's main strength in bowling has also dropped very sharply. To get Dravid and co out twice in a five day game looks very difficult. Unless, Rana, Afridi and Denish clicks with all the decipline they showed in their bowling against Aussies. Also if we have a fit Akhtar, we have better chances to probe till No. 3 in Indian's line up with constant frustratation caused by Rana's both-ways swing bowling and surprise yorkers. But let see if 'boys' can deliver it. I will say it again, we need players like Asim and Yohanna who can play two to three sessions without making any mistake or unneccesary hitting. Taufeeq and Butt also need to look for century opening stand in every innings.

By saying that Youhanna and Asim can dodge 2/3 sessions is acceptable but by saying that Butt and Taffy have century partnership/ innings is a stretch.

ehhhhh…actualy india has a very huge advantage considering teh tests ..they have time and again performed well in tests …not to mention teh linup of batting is formidable (in respect to tests n in comparisn to pak), since tests is mainly a batsmen game i see india taking that …as far as odi goes ur right pakistan is a good odi team …but very unpredictable …n u kno that cud go either way …as for india …FIND THAT 5TH BOWLER…thts what primarily makes india loose odiz…but as for now i dont see that happnin in such a short time …lets see…shud be an awesome series no matter what…

I think Kaneria would be the ‘weakest link’ for reasons being the lack of his
Armer variety ‘nagging consistency’ on the wrong side, which also lacks Captain’s or his own field setting coordination + plus his poor fielding / batting.
Shahid Afridi will be the most successful bowler on this tour inshallah. :k:

you can keep praising Afridi's bowling as much you like, I wish him luck too (if he gets to play test cricket) but you can't change the fact that Kaneria got 15 wickets in the three tests he bowled in Australia!

imran khan sahab released a new statement on cricinfo reiterating kai pacers win game in india not spinners, also pointing out how shane warne has struggled in hindia as hindian players read spin very well. still i hope danny and afridi will both play in tests and cause them some bother. victory is definitely in sight in both tests and odi’s as i believe we can match any team apart from the world champs @ the mo’

^ Ok! I would like add few hints about Afridi's bowling to add to my ^ post and justify my views.
If some of you guys missed on his 'Dosra - Teesra' addition to his armer + plus his regulars, are perhaps missing a point. Me too lazy to get the vital statistics here,,,,:D
Shahid Afridi has managed to adopt and add to his arsenal, he's nearly as good as Kumble now, and Kumble is India's key bowler. This was quite evident of Shahid down under. Its a matter of more test exposure for him to endure longer spells.
I don't talk about Afridi's batting.
Last but not least, Pakistan has carried quite a few stronger squads to a weaker Indian side, yet they lost the Vital Crunch matches.
I don't see things any differently this time.

Some1 is Indian, for your information. But he is right, Afridi against India in ODI is different than in test. They are good at playing spinners, we have to keep this in our minds, specially when you have five days to play with lots of patience. Unlike our players whose dhotis are always on fire and they try to reach pavailion on the first chance that they get.
Afridi will be effective in test only when Actor/Rana/Sami put the initial pressure. If you get 3 Hindians out before lunch, Afridi and Denish can get good wickets in next session with some aggressive field placement. Indians ( except Dravid and somewhat Kaif too) fell cheaply like us when the early wickets are gone quickly. I hope Inzi will sort his problem with setting up agressive or disturbing fielding.

In the test matches, I think it will all come down to bowling just like in last year's India's tour to Pak......when Pathan/Balaji/Kumble performed better than the Pak bowlers in 2 of the 3 test matches.
Similarly in the forthcoming series, regardless of what most people think, I believe India and Pakistan are evenly matched in batting. I expect Inzi, Younis Khan, Butt, Yaseer Hameed, Kamal and Youhana to stand up to India's batting stength.
So bowling, the pitch and the toss will contribute to the result.
The Mohali test would be esp interesting as the pitch there is supposed to be pace-friendly.

I wish we had Saqlain with Kaneria available in top form. India could then have prepared as many Mumbai dustbowls as they want, we wouldn't be affected. Now they have two top spinners in Kumble and Harbhajan, and a striker like Pathan. We need to get our act together and bring back Shoaib as soon as he is available.
