Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22
ji sir, but MoYo was retired at that time and you know if he was not in we would have not made it 300+.
It was wrong to throw all young blood in the middle order in the most challenging conditions to play cricket. If it was a series against SL, Zimb, Bang than it would have been different. Even then you need senior class batsmen to teach young guys around him and stabilize the innings. Thats exactly what MoYo did.
Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22
I always knew that Pakistan had a better chance of winning against England at The Oval or Lord's than at Trent Bridge (Nottingham) or Edgbaston (Birmingham) where the ball seams and swings more. Yousuf was the difference in batting IMO. Wahab Riaz also impressed on debut. The bowling looks in good shape with Gul and Akhtar in reserve. The decision to drop Kaneria was the right one. Ajmal has done well in the last two tests
We did not do so well at Lord's against Australia but with the batters finally showing some spine I believe we have a decent chance of winning second time around. With YK also in the side we might have even won the series!!
Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22
Asif, correct the wickets of Oval and Lords are quite different. I am not too sure if Yousuf or Younis would have made a huge difference in the swing conditions, however their presence in the team puts pressure on hte opposition.
Azhar ali who scored two ducks in the previoous two tests almost scored a century here. That says alot about the conditions and environment.
Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22
^ They are different for sure but The Oval wicket esp. is full of runs - touring teams generally do well here - and Pakistan won at Lord's in 1982, 1992 and 1996. I think catching also made the difference. Our catching was extremely poor in the first two tests
Re: Pakistan vs England, 3rd Test, Wed Aug 18 - Sun Aug 22
This is what i found dont know its true or not
Pakistan beat England by 4 wickets at the Oval. On same date i.e 21st August(2006), Pakistan were declared losers as they refused to take the field the previous day. Today, after 4 years on same date, Pakistan has beaten England at same venue. Series is still alive now but England lead it by 2-1.

Shukar Pak won!!! i think one important factor was that i slept thru this inning :-) Now, if someone can PLEASE post the HIGHLIGHTS for people like me living in backward countries (u know, the countries where they think cricket more of an insect than a sport :-)

Aamer: Wasim bhai is my ideal and I love him.
lol... and we love you Aamer. keep up the outstanding work. you're destined to be a superstar.
also kudos to Sally Butt for remembering to dedicate the win to the people of Pakistan in these tough times. it's good to have a captain who knows what needs to be said when.

Yes...Mohammad Amir is the future!
PS: He bowls his best at his wildest imagination...notice...he breezes or storms back to his runup mark like he going to get the next wicket for sure from the delivery...lol
