Pakistan V Bangladesh - Test and ODI series.

I think Bangladesh have played really well, from the standards always deemed apon them.

Considering that, Pakistan has played poorly then. Very poorly. I'm not sure if people still consider Bangladesh a grade school team, but their not that bad. Dave Whatmore is a great coach.. remember what he did with SL and the World Cup. I'm sure he can improve Bangladesh withen time.

Rashid should not be blamed 100%, but when you take the captain's role you have to play the role properly. In time of stress: organize the field accordingly, bring the right bowlers in, how to attack/defend, and if batting how to control your attidude just incase of falling wickets.

If I'm not mistaken, the fall of wickets started occuring after Rashid lost his. If Rashid is not a good enough batsman, then he should send himself down the order to bring in a proper player in that position. Staying for 14 balls is not much. He of course is only guy at the moment for this job, but as a captain your responsibilities raise more.

when I woke up to go to school and decided to check the score…I was like   175 all out!  Very pooor batting by Pakistan. Inzamam really needs to score big or I think he deserves to be booted out of the team once again. Seems like he hasn’t learned his lesson. When we need our experienced players such as Younis or Inzamam to perform, they fail. but our bowling has done a decent job so far…but im very suprised at Pakistan’s batting performences :(:(

can't believe I am saying this but here i go, damn you chuti&@ selectors.

Pakistan should easily win this one, unless they perform really horrible.

Agreed and you should be proud of it.

I apologized for singeling you out but there are many others in this forum cursing and criticizing single players, while cricket is a game of team effort and not a one man's game.

Remember this sentence when next time you say that sachin is not match winner. :D

If we lose this, we should do the following:

1) Hang this X1.

2) State that no senior pro (Akhtar) can take games off at his will. F*** Durham, Pakistan's reputation is on the line.

SA will win 3-0, unless Akhtar is magic.

*I am sick and tired of pathetic performance by Pakistan. PCB team selection is not balance, why PCB selected Yasir Ali as the 11th player when there are at least 5 or more players who deserver to be on the national squad. What about Jaffar Nazir, Najaf Shah, Abdur Rauf, Mohammad Zahid, Fazl-e-Akbar?

Since all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood were not available why PCB didn’t give a chance to Bilal Asad or Naved ul Hasan.

I agree with you Inzamam should score big he has no more excuses, he is playing at home, in front of his home crowd If he still can’t perform then he should call it quit and if he loves the game and still wants to play then he should play for county cricket just like mushi and other Pakistani players. I think Multan pitch would have been perfect for Danish Kaneria, I wish PCB have selected him for Inzi.
I hope PCB invest money in a ground evaluation team which will evaluate the gound/pictch, weather condition and these factors should be included before selecting the team, Multan pitch is bowler friendly unlike Peshawar and Karachi. PCB made 5 changes which may have caused some problems, team chemisty is not there, Opening slot issues and middle order collapse. I still think Salman Butt is still young and he has alot to learn. I would have waited and given him a chance in ODI to see his performance but I think he knows someone in the PCB.
I would have selected Farhan Adil and Hafeez as an opener, one all-rounder (Bilal Asad or Naved ul Hasan or Yasir Arafat) to make bowling more lethal. I would have selected one more fast bowler from 5 mentioned above.*

Sorry, Rashid's wicket is 6th on the list which is fine as in batting order, our frontline batsmen failed before Rashid Latif. Something seriously is needed to be done by Inzi and PCB selection.

Thanks to PCB who released him for Durham even when they had released him to play for Pakistan.

As far as Shoaib's departure was concerned thats all PCB's doing and I dont think Shoaib can be blamed for anything. He asked for permission to skip the Bangladesh series and was given the permission. Then PCB learned that Sami might not be fit for the first two tests so they sent Shoaib and Durham an SOS. Now Durham or Shoaib were under no obligation to do what PCB tells them to do but they released Shoaib with the understanding that Shoaib will play the first two tests and then return. Now PCB learns that Sami might not be available for any matches and they dont have any strike bowler.

I think PCB should not have released Shoaib or for that matter any player when we have national matches coming up. Period. If you want to have a chance to play for Pakistan then you should be available to play for Pakistan at any time. This county bull**** has gone way out of hand now and we need to put a stop on this. Even after that if one of the superstatrs decides to do make him self unavailable then he should be told then he can kiss his Pakistan career goodbye.

Agree with you fully LM, many players have taken their position in team for granted. As soon as any "established" players skips a game/series for other than geniune reason he should be asked to perform in domestic cricket to prove worthiness.

Changez_like & LM,

As I stated in my previous post, there is alot need to be done to improve Pakistani Cricket. Senior player must prove that they deserve to be in the team. Senior players like Younis Khan & Yohana & Inzi have struggle score big, we really need a solid #1, 2 and 3.

It is too early to determine what kind of change PCB will make in ODI, but I hope that they can put together a comparative team.

we should all stop this crybaby BS, shoaib not being here has nothing to do with the asskicking BD is giving us. The bowling has been good, in fact I would think it is the only hilight really, Shabbir Ahmed and Umar Gul have really stepped up so far. When push comes to shove teh bowliers have played well. What is the problem?? it is f ing obvious, we don't have batsmen worth sh*t. Muhammed Hafeez is grossly overated, Inzimam Ul Haq looks well past his expiry date. Where are the key all rounder, Azhar Mahmood and Abdul Razzaq? Why is Youhana not playing. In this series we are reaping the reward of not producing a decent batsman in the last 5 years that is simply it. Also if Rashid Latif can't bat anymore he serves not purpose. A captain alone is not enough. Bring back Moin Khan if you have to. I am also not impressed with Yunis Khan and his usual BS, if the guy wants to be an established veteran, it is time to step up and score some runs. Otherwise guys like him, Inzi, Rashid should get tossed.

Is ARY showing the match in Mid-east???
There are like 10 ARY channels here (some haven't started yet!), which one is showing it??

Elahi, the reason for complain for absence of Shoaib is because Multan seems to be lively wicket and we let him go to Durham, we allowed him to skip the series in beginning and then we had to ask Durham to release for 2 matches, isn't that pathetic?

You are right about batting, our batting line up is crap. We need someone who can stick around in difficult times, not a random batsman in every match, we need consistency to some extent. Hafeez has proved to be "better" than the experienced lot we have.

I am normally quite possesive about our national team, still the performance shown in this series is very concerning.

Batting in particular has been a huge disappointment. I only hope that Pakistani batters are deliberately not giving their 100% coz of the weak oppostiion. Orelse there is no way in the world we have a chance against Pollock and co.

I seriously hope that we are taking BS easy and not playing to our full potential

You have raised a very valid point that we our sufferings are mainly because of the fact that we have not produced any quality batsman after Yousaf Youhanna. However kicking everybody out is not the solution to the problem. We have already done a lot of that (Wasim, Waqar, Saeen Anwar, Afridi etc.) and first of all we should try to get some kind of rythm and combination going. In due course of time Inzi, Rashid etc. will have to make room for new comers but this should not be done in one go.

Razzaq, Azhar can be tried but we need genuine batsmen who have the ability to stay on the wicket, play under pressure, and be consistent. The above two can be wonderful one day stuff but at test level, their bowling lacks the depth and bite to be effective and they are just decent number 7 batsmen. Perhaps we need a little more than that.

Also, on the assumption that we are trying out the best of breed youngsters, nobody except for Yassir Hameed has impressed. And remember we are playing the weakest test opposition. I would love to see Yasir score against S. Africa too.

Anyway, no matter how convincing Karachi and Peshawar victories look on paper, I think Bangladesh has clearly exposed our weaknesses and we should try to work on them and get them fixed before the important upcoming series.

There are just tooo many problems, Aamir sohail needs to be kicked out from PCB, I think he is the main problem. I don't understand why PCB refuse to select Saeed Anwar? He was the most consistent player in the team, everyone was strugling and they are still strugling.

-> Seniors are struggling :(
-> Still a huge problem with #1 & #2
-> PCB must arrange more tours for "A" Squad.
-> PCB must stop neglecting telented players (Saeed bin Nazir & Misbah should be given chance)

I wouldn't mind trying Farhan Adil as #2 but it is all depend on this performance in next inning and in ODI.
