Pakistan V Bangladesh - Test and ODI series.

Why are we wasting our time playing such a useless series.

**Bangladesh to tour Pakistan in August **](http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/030520/323/e0f6w.html)

DHAKA (AFP) - Bangladesh will play its first ever Test series in Pakistan in August on their return from a path-breaking tour of Australia, officials said.

The minnows will tour Pakistan for three Tests and five one-day internationals between August 17 and September 23, Bangladesh Cricket Board official Mahboob Anam said Tuesday.

“We have discussed the schedule and are awaiting confirmation from the Pakistan board,” Anam told AFP.

The tour follows Bangladesh’s first visit to Australia in July when they play two Tests against the world champions at the new venues of Darwin and Cairns, besides three one-dayers at the same grounds.

Bangladesh played a lone Test in Pakistan in 2001, but that match in Multan was part of the Asian Test championship and ended in a massive innings victory for the hosts.

Bangladesh have lost 18 of their 19 Tests since being admitted to the international fold in 2000, the only draw coming in a rain-hit tie against Zimbabwe.

They have also not won a one-day international in four years and were knocked out in the first round of the recent World Cup in South Africa.

Bangladesh earlier this month hired Sri Lanka’s former World Cup-winning coach Dav Whatmore to change the national team’s fortunes.

The main question is why is it a 3 test match series, and not 2 test match series.
Is Pakistan the only fazool nation left to play 3 matches.
Anyways, it will be good for the crowd as they haven't seen cricket in Pakistan in a long time and also good for the revenue, doesn't matter who Pakistan plays, tickets will be sold.

I heard South Africa were also tour Pakistan in August for 3 test and a triangular one day series involving Bangladesh.

It's a waste of time. No one else gives these no-hopers the time of day. They should organise a 3 match series with their big pals India (although they'll probably be told to go jump in a lake).

I won't even bother following it unless we put out a team of juniors in which case at least I'd get a look at some of the up and coming players.

they should have three day matches with bangladesh....it gets over in tht time anyways

i think this series has been arranged because ICC gave a warning to Bangladesk that they need to win a match soon, else their test status will be cancelled....and who is better suited to help Bangalis then their own brothers (Pakis).......

i don't want act in TAKKABUR but more in realistic way to say that these TEST matches should have only 2 days of break in between because probably all matches will end after max 3 1/2 days since the scenarios we can look at would be like that:

1st Test: Pak win the Toss & elect to Bat, Post something between 400 -500 runs in some 140 - 150 runs to bowl out BD in 100 - 120 overs twice .....

2nd Test: BD wins the Toss & elect to Bat, scores something near 150 - 180 runs after 60 -70 overs, Pak post something between 400 -500 runs in some 140 - 150 overs to bowl out BD for nearly 200 runs in 60 - 70 overs again .....

Does someone see something else may happen out of the ordinary in the 3rd Test beside the 1st & 2nd Test ...... OK rain spoil the day 1 & 2 but the pitch by now is a bit like in Dambulla at the start of the Alfalah Bank Trophy so BD is shot out again even only with 3 days to play due to rain ......

I know it's not the Aussies they r facing but Pak but be honest to urself ..... Even ZIM is able to produce this kinda result in current BD conditions ...... yeah i know whatmore is their new coach but he is not a magician .... or is he ????

I think it will be good match practice for the young test players, honestly, most of these yougsters have not been exposed to test matches, so it would be a good outing for them.

1 test, 3 ODI should be enough, unless PCB has decided to find 40 new players.

Its not a bad idea. These guys are young, more practice they get bettter it is for them. We can't just assume they can win from Bdesh. Afterall Pak lost to their "brothers" in the world cup, and that team was much better than this one. You never know.

it'll be good for the new team!

So why not let them play the matches against 1st class sides in Pak in 4 day matches and they play only ODI against the national team ..... well according to my limited knowledge of cricket it makes more sense this way than let them play tests against any Test playing nation .....

So what about a Asian Champions League for Cricket where the 1st class from IND, PAK, SL are participating and include to this the BD national side ..... at last it's all about a progress towards success isn't it ....

The new players can use the practice i suppose?

True, but the people in pakistan are starving for some exciting cricket, involving other teams...

The new players are doing ok against established international sides like Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Why would they need practice against a team that would struggle to beat most local first class teams?

Well, I guess this is the best way to improve our ratings in ODIs, Test Championship Table; and give the chance to a team mixture of young guns with Sr. players.

Also, the venues, who haven’t been used lately, will be used in Bangladesh tour of Pakistan.

PCB finalizes Bangladesh tour programme

But we have offered them an additional Test as well as two more ODIs,” the spokesman told Dawn on Tuesday.

Ramiz Raja, the PCB chief executive, has written to the Bangladesh Cricket Control Board (BCCB) seeking its final approval for the tour beginning on Aug 17.

B’desh is quite a team to test your talent and skills on. They can provide lots of learning curve.

I don’t about you but I’d be rooting for Bangladesh. GO BANGLA GO. :k:

Shoaib may skip home series against Bangladesh

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Tuesday it would not have any problems if fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar opted to skip the home series against Bangladesh.

“Officially I have not received any request from Shoaib to not play in the series against Bangladesh, but if he does want to skip the series I don’t think there should be any problems with that. It would allow us to give chances to some of the younger players,” said a senior PCB official.

He also indicated that the fast bowler had yet to get official clearance from the Board to play for Durham in England.

“Our policy is that we will not stop any player from playing county cricket in England if he is not required for national duty. But yes it is our policy that he first has to get proper permission from the Board,” the official stated.

Shoaib joined Durham on Tuesday on a three months contract, which has probably led him to decide to skip the series against Bangladesh. Shoaib and Muhammad Sami were the two members of the Pakistan team in England who joined counties after the completion of the tour on Sunday.

Sami joined first division side Kent but has been given permission by the Board to do so on a two months contract. Meanwhile Shoaib Akhtar has come in for strong criticism from his former captain and new ball partner Waqar Younis clearly upset with comments from him (Shoaib) about him and Wasim Akram.

Waqar told a website that Shoaib had never lived up to expectations for Pakistan.

“It’s ridiculous Shoaib coming out in the papers saying he’s going to do this or do that,” said Waqar. "He’s been doing it for a few years now and he never lives up to it and it looks pretty ugly. He performs to his ability once a year – and then he has the nerve to compare himself with Glenn McGrath.

"He was saying last week that if he’d been born Australian, he’d have taken more wickets. “It might have been better for Pakistan if he had been born in Australia.”

Shoaib proved expensive at The Oval when his 2-69 from nine overs allowed England to level the three-match series at a canter. But he came back strongly in the third One-dayer at Lord’s although he went wicketless.

None of our frontline bowlers should be used, it will be a good chance to give the likes of Gul and Shabir Ahmed a chance to get some experience, and maybe introduce somebody like Abdul Rauf. Let's face it we'll blow them away anyway and it'll make the series of more interest to the rest of us.

Pakistan shouldn't take Bdesh easy as they did in world cup. It would be better for Pak to play their best even if Bdesh has the worst record.

I think we should include half of our U-19 to find promising players.
