Pakistan tour of England - June 2003

:rotfl:

yes. once in a century though / life-time [yourz obviously]

Seriously though, Pakistan tried their best and you should be proud of them :D

Sobi, what's the mood like at home?

EP, oh really? Well England and Pakistan have played 3 matches this year and England has won two of them. That speaks for itself, don't you agree?

actually no they didn't, had they tried their best, England wouldn't have won.
Anways we'll see you at Lords

^
we are proud of them :-)
however you should savour this moment as prolly you won't see such heroics from your team for a looooooong time . after all they ARE BRITISH :-)

Guys if on a good batting track you get bogged down by a bunch of faceless wonders like Mgrath then there's something seiously wrong with the approach. Everyone knows that an Australian or Indian batting line up would have murdered these bowlers and I felt that throughout our innings we never looked to dominate the way Trescothick did.

As for Umar Gul i didn't think he should have been dropped before the game but I don't think he would have done much on this pitch. The bounce was there in the wicket for the fast bowlers but the accuracy wasn't which was disappointing.

Trescothick is a good player but he was helped by some indisciplined bowling without a doubt. Anyway, roll on Sunday and let's get to work putting things right.

still have one more to play :-)

and if you are soo eager to include past matches then why not include matches that were played in the last decade :-) i'm sure that will give you a clear picture

Fungi, sombre to say the least. They allowed me in to watch the rest of the match when they realised that there was no way Pakistan was gonna win the match.

I had to be on my best behavior and act as though I was upset everytime Trethy and co hit their chake and chuke.

They're now cursing the Pakistani cricket team and blaming teh whole whitewash on manhoos Mushy (rather than manhoos Sobi!)

Xtremeo, ur rather quiet on the green dupatta front :hoonh:

That’s coz I haven’t chosen which colour would suit you best yet, but don’t worry doll, it’s Saturday tomorrow I’ll head of to the shopping centre and pick out a nice one ok? :smooth:

Sweety urs has already been picked, that’s how confident I am! You’re gonna look so hot in it Mashallah

meray doo anay…

Pakistan: What went wrong…

well, nothing unusual was seen by Pakistani Fans today.. just like the last worldcup, Pakistan failed to have a good solid opening and then, adding to the disappointments, a middle order collapse… i am not sure y many of us here are surprised by this performance its a routine now.. get used to it!..

England: What went right…

well, for England, pretty much everything went right.. from the first ball of the match to the last ball of the match.. it was there day simply! They tried their best in bowling and success came to them in the form of collapses of Pakistani batting order.. our bowlers, not so experienced for situations like these, couldn’t handle it . Well done england.. nice display of cricket!

Overall: well i guess Pakistan lost for a good reason, atleast now they know what not to do .. and what to do.. it took Wasim and Waqar the procedure to learn about their mistakes and then becoming an allstart bowlers.. it might take this team a little more then that but eventually these young guns will learn to shoot right on target.. and i can only see a positive improvement in our team in coming tours.. Good luck Pakistan for the next game.. :k:

after this match i think we are better off without shoaib akhtar..Umar Gul is better than him ..and about shobby speed its of no use..every player can now hit it..and that cost us many runs ..so i think we should make shobby rest for the 3rd match...i think sami and umar gul would be best for opening attack just like in Sharjah...

i also heard during the sharjah match that the umpire or coach said that if umar gul continues his excellent performance then he could be the next McGrath with in few years ..and i think umar gul should be given chance to play..

anyways i saw no struggle by pakistan side..anywayz they should try to win the next match..

personally i was shocked too when i saw no Umar Gull in the line up, last night i watched him for the first time and he looked very impressing to me. He is kindaa non pakistani style of Bowler, i mean most of the bowlers that Pak produced in Last ten years try to get batsman out rather then waiting for a mistake from batsman. where as he bowls a good lenth, making the ball move of the wicket rather than in the air like most of the paki bowlers do. and personally to me that was very refreshing to see from a pakistani bolwer.

Did anyone watch the match on Star Sports? I liked Dean Jones/Ravi Shastri comments. I think it'll be very hard for pakistan team to win the last match now, especially when we have a bad record at Lords.

And losing this series, i dont think we;ll have the convient excuseof young side. English side is even more raw than we are, and boy what a beating we got today. Very sad, indeed.

Anderson is the first English bowler to achieve a hat-trick?? Thats quite an achievement.

I wonder why everyone has to make records against Pakistan. Its not like we're bangladesh. :(

Why do ppl think that Pakistani bowling didn't have much experience? We have Shoaib Akhtar, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mehmood.

How many experienced bowlers did England have?

Our batting did perform very badly, from first ball to the last ball. Every once in a while we do get some light in the tunnel that Yousuf Youhanna is about to hit his form, but later we find out that it was just a short spark. I hope he gains his full fire sooner than later.

Then our bowling, right from the beginning was shown the doors (boundary). Nobody could stop the English flood. How many times has England achieved 189 in 22 overs?

If one thing we Pakistanis have to learn, it has to be consistent. I bet if Shoaib takes 5 wickets in the next match, everyone would forget this day and start praising him like crazy. As man ppl on this board said, this guy has no knowledge of cricket. He admits it himself that he knew nothing about cricket until 18. And yes he is the one to blame apart from Imran Nazir for this debacle. Getting out on the first ball, and going for 20 in 2 overs puts all the pressure on the team.
