Pakistan squad for WI series

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

Our bowling attack is very weak. :(

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

^ with umar gul as the only bowler in the team, i dont think we shud even call it a bowling attack....

nazir is good, but i dont think he can cause any worries for batsmen on sub-continent pitches....

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

I haven't really seen him much - what sort of variety would he bring to the bowling attack?

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

This raises an interesting question.

Assuming that all the specialist bowlers are just average, should the attack consist of 4-5 specialist bowlers (e.g., Gull, Nazir/Sami, Kaneria, and A. Rahman) or will the selectors think that our tried and tested all-rounders are equally good (if not better) bowlers and go for Razzaq, Malik, and Hafeez instead of specialist bowlers, in the test matches. This will supposedly strengthen the batting. Bowling will remain weak as it is should be in either case.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

He is a left-armer.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

bichara M. Sami koo nazar lag gayi hey:D
he got injured during match practice for 2 days game against WI starting on wednesday. In his place M. Irshad has been called up.
GS waloo bicharay sam koo maaf kur doo especially now that he is hurt and has no chance of playing in near future :D

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

Yes you could say that being a left arm bowler will bring a variety in the bowling attack, however it doesn’t mean that it will be effective or any good.

Mohammed Khalil - was a left arm bowler and he wasn’t any good. We will have to wait and see if Niazi is any better.

There was another guy which was talked about few years ago. I think his name is Zahid Saeed and is a left arm fast bowler but no one seems to be mentioning him these days and may be he hasn’t lived up to his promise in the domestic scene.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

^ Khalil was successful in domestic before departing with team alongwith Asif on tour to Australia and we all saw that Khalil got few wickets in ODIs though IMO Asif was much better. Khalil continued on with team to Indian tour but didn't have much success. Samiullah was taken to England tour if I remember correctly but was not given any game.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

they shud drop farhat, he doesnt have the skill to play a long innings or score big.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

They will probably drop the crappy Farhat if he doesn't score. However, one decent score in the series may mean he will still retain his place.

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series

1. Malik
2. Farhat
3. Younis
4. Yousaf
5. Inzi
6. Faisal
7. Razzaq
8. Akmal
9. Samiullah Niazi
10. Umar Gul
11. Kaneria

This will allow Pakistan a batting depth to #8, three fast bowlers (Gul, Samiullah, Razzaq), two spinners (Kaneria leg, Malik off)
