Antumul Alona... its better to capture his words as "quote" here, which shouldn't be removable by him ;)
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
How is it going to solve the batting problems? Is it because Hameed is back?
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
^ batting part will be solved probably because Inzi is back :D

Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Sorry what I meant to state was how is it going to solve the opening problems?
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
^ no prob in opening...only prob in staying out there for long....
go Yasir Hameed...I like his style of stroke play....
:D
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
It won't completely solve the problem, but what has been missing from our openers is patience, they have been "fishing/flashing" at anything offside. Yasir and Hafeez have shown patience enough, if not both then atleast one of them is likely to stay longer then partnerships with anyone of Farhat, Taufeeq, Salman (lately).
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Abdul Rehman in the squad, praise the Lord. He will serve as a valuable resource in the team. Unfortunately, as Rock_Express Bhai has mentioned, he was sent back to the country upon Arshad Khan’s miraculous arrival during the tour of Sri Lanka. One of the many from domestics who is in desperate need of polishing.
Asim Kamal did not make it, but Hameed did. Meh…
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
His position at one down is up for debate in the ODI's, as far as tests goes I dont think anyone would object his poistion at 3, He has had a lot of success recently in test cricket and currently ranks in the top 4 or 5 batsmen in test rankings. He is fine at #3 in tests.
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
no backup wicketkeeper.....duntoo continues to get a free ride...
team structure doesnt speak much of our desire to win, seems like the age old strategy of playing defensive....
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
i hope if they play niazi, they give him good wickets to bowl at
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
I am happy to see that Samiullah and Shahid Nazir are back, I hope they get 100% chance to prove their worth. As for Hameed, I really hope he has improved and he doesnt play that flashy cover drive which was his demise. I’d voice for this 11, however you should not forget that Pakistani team is playing on home ground, however the batting will be tested in near winter and foggy situation in Pakistan which helps swing and seam movement and I am sure Taylor, Bradshaw and Bravo will certainly test the batting :halo: but wait what about the monster in the opposition team Gayle, with his form I am sure he will eat the poor and weak bowling alive.
not to mention other heavy-weights and the legend himself (lara).
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Any idea why Asim Kamal could not find a spot in the 15. Did he not do well enough in domestic cricket or what?
With Pakistan's fragile batting, I think number 6 should go to a specialist batsman rather than an all rounder (Razzaq or Shoaib). And Asim Kamal looked good enough for the job.
For test matches, we should go with 6 batsman, 4 specialist bowlers and a wicket-keeper batsman. The 5th part-time bowler can be compensated by using Hafeez, if he qualifies as an opener.
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
^^ apparently this is the answer from the PCB topdawg regarding Asim Kamal;
*
When asked why Asim Kamal, who will Patron's XI in the two-day match against West Indies from Wednesday, the chief selector said the left-hander was left out because of the policy of continuity.“Faisal Iqbal showed good form in England after having scored a match-winning century against India at Karachi. We thought it best to retain Faisal,” he said.
"No doubt Asim has a good average in Test cricket and he is still very much in contention which is why he’s been given a chance to show his form in the two-day match,” he stressed.*
As for 6-4-1 well Pakistan do need to get 20 wickets and with weak bowling and only relying on Kaneria wont get them anywhere, they need 5 bowlers IMO.
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
I would always advocate for a 5-5-1 if the wicketkeeper is good enough to be qualified as a batsman. With his recent form, Akmal cannot be treated as a batsman. Out of the remaining 5, we are still struggling with the openers. This means all the burden of batting will be on #3, 4, & 5 (Younis, Yousaf, Inzi) and all three (or at least 2 of them) must score big in every inning that they play. If you are comfortable with this assumption, feel free to include a specialist bowler for a batsman :)
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
has anyone been following the recent domestic cricket matches in pakistan????
batsmen, all of them, seem to be failing to hold on to the wicket....
whats up with the pitches????
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Samiullah just got a 10 wicket haul.
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Its obvious that Samiullah and Abdur Rahman will not play. They have not featured yet and I think they will not do so in the first two matches. Hameed is backup opener in case team mgmt decides to do more shuffles in that department. Great to see the back of Afridi in test, Finally...
1) Hafeez
2) Farhat
3) Younis
4) Yusuf
5) Inzi
6) Malik
7) Razzaq
8) Akmal
9) Nazir
10) Gul
11) Kaneria
Re: Pakistan squad for WI series
Samiullah shud play, it will add much needed variety, cuz Nazir and Razzaq are basically the same.
