As far as i know, there are plenty other ways to get the railway out of the mess it is in, to start with, get compatible minister and management to run the show, i am sure if done right they can turn achieve break-even in next 18 months…
The decision to cancel certain routes clearly states that the minister is mentally bankrupt and the others who ever has appointed him on this position does not care about it any more…
while our media is busy in making fun of fake degree and etc. the common man is directly suffering from this non-sense decision, there is no govt. road transport service and now govt is making it more difficult for people to travel across the country…

One easy way is to build apartment complexes for Railway 'officers' and sell the current huge houses they live in throughout the country. Should solve any and all financial difficulties being faced by the Railways.

Pakistan Railways has been in decline for several years. I worked with a guy who was one of the most incompetent persons I have seen. His work ethics were abysmal. He used to come late, and take every other day off. He was eventually fired. Later he told me that he was hired by Railways as an engineer, and now was going somewhere in Punjab to get training.
I was amazed when I heard this. At that time I said good bye to the future of Pakistan Railways.

Agree with u 100%. The railway is run with so much incompetance that every time i go back i seems to get worse instead of better! Whatever happened to those millions $$ worth chinese made Loco/coaches bought during mushy time? They were too low or high for the platforms in pakistan, they were unusable. Who ordered it ? no investigation nothing.
Sad thing is railways are one of the cheapest means for the common awaam to travel long distance.Now, they have cancelled a few more long distance trains.
