This morning media in US was saying Pakistan Oked the air strike. But Pakistan has denied it .
They said there are Pakistani officers on NATO bases in Afghanistan who co-ordinate attacks against militants. who do you believe ? What is this game both of them playing ?
These are some of the sources of this OK related news.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
We have to wait for completion of investigation. When something like this tragedy occurs there is motivation for either party to lie and cover up.
If you really think about it:
1) It is crazy to think Pakistan will WANT to bomb its own soldiers
2) It is crazy to think NATO to WANT to bomb Pak soldiers given the critical dependency that NATO has for supplies & intelligence on Pak
3) Therefore whatever happened must have been one or more mistakes - somebody misunderstood what the other party asked or said
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
So did NATO tell the Pakistani soldiers that they're attacking militias or they plan on attacking a Pakistani Amy checkpoint.
I'm sure they were told militia's thus the okay.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
There are no Pakistani troops on any NATO bases anywhere. That is in violation of standing NATO/ISAF SOP. They are lying through their teeth.
If anybody asks tell them try getting on a FOB as a non-ISAF personnel and then talk to you.

Why did they not say tell us where you think those militants are and we will take care of them ?
In Osama Bin Laden case I can understand that US could not trust anybody to let them know where he was . But for everyday militants they cannot be too skeptical. What if they want to bomb president house in Islamabad ( I would have no problem with that though) Will they be given OK for that. I guess keeping in mind what is going in Pakistan now a days , Pakistani commanders might OK that . :)

The NPR correspondent was talking from a base in Afghanistan and saying that there are officers on that base who co-ordinate attacks on militants.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
He could have been confused. You think ISAF would allow Pakistani ISI and military officials on a base when they accuse us of funding and supporting the Taliban?

DGMO confirmed the presence of Pakistan Army Major level liaison officers at coordination centers in Afghanistan.

The only news organization I trust is NPR. See the post by firenze above.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
Again link. Such centers might function in Pakistan. They do not function in ISAF bases in Afghanistan. Secondly all Pakistani military officers who have spoken to the press have stated they contacted ISAF Command. They never contacted the joint coordination centers.
If Pakistani military officials were based in these centers at ISAF bases, wouldn't the Pakistani General call up his Pakistani Major and say stop the attack?
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
It was clear from General Nadeem’s briefing that there was misleading information being provided to the Pakistan military from the start. Just before the attack, a Pakistani officer at the regional tactical center was informed by an American sergeant that their special forces had received indirect fire from Gora Pai, located some 15 kilometres away from Volcano post. And after 7 minutes, a woman officer informed him that the fire had, in fact, come from Volcano, which had been hit in retaliation.
The DGMO listed the standard operating procedures that exists in the border coordination mechanism that entails sharing information on impending operations in advance, particularly if these operations come within two kilometers of the border; to immediately communicate if one side comes under fire with the responsibility to take action from the country from where the attack originated; and cessation of fire when communication established. “All SOPs were violated that night,” said General Nadeem.

The DGMO said that there were four border communication centres to coordinate operations against militants but, unfortunately, all Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) were violated by Isaf and North Atlantic Tearty Organization (Nato) on the night of attack.

they did with-in seven minutes the orders were given from GHQ to stop the attacks "they are our horses" but the attack continue for more then two hours. Talat Hussain did a whole program on it few days ago.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
Pakistan already denied the false claims made by them! and I believe Pakistan army over americans!
A Pakistani official on Friday denied **a Wall Street Journal report**** that Pakistani officials gave the go-ahead to a NATO air strike that killed 24 troops, unaware that their own forces were in the area.
Last weekend’s cross-border attack has caused public outrage in Pakistan, the government has pulled out of next week’s international conference on Afghanistan and threatened to end support for the US-led war there if its sovereignty is violated again.
A Pakistani military official categorically denied the Journal’s account, saying the aircraft had already engaged when Pakistan was contacted.
“Wrong information about the area of operation was provided to Pakistani officials a few minutes before the strike,” said the official, who was not authorized to speak to the media.
“Without getting clearance from the Pakistan side, the post had already been engaged by US helicopters and fighter jets. Pakistan did not have any prior information about any operation in the area.”

Where is this “regional tactical center”? The article doesn’t say that it was a base in Afghanistan

there are four such center on eastern border of Afghanistan manned by Pakistan/ISAF/Afghan liaison officers.
Re: Pakistan OKed Air Strike That Killed Troops .
Yes. It doesn't say its in Afghanistan. According to official comments by ISAF and the Pak Army there are two located in Peshawar and Quetta. The other two you mentioned (a total of 4) I have never heard off.
Also regional tactical centres are not border communication posts. Regional Tactical centres in US military jargon are called fusion centres. And only 2 of those exist in Pakistan as per wikileaks and media reports. Border communication centres are by no means very high on the scale.

Again link to back up what you say. Because it is contrary to all media reports till this day.

I do not believe any of them for now . I will wait to see more information from independent media sources.
