Army rules the roost, but does a bad job of it... Civilians are never allowed to evolve politically, and when they fail to live up to expectation, they are condemned far more strongly then the Military.

The biggest Masla is the politicians interfering in the name of so-called democracy, whilst they and their parties are themselves dictators. If only the politicians left Pakistan to be run by the greatest Pakistani institution, the Army, then saaray maslay khatam ho jaingay. :)

The ARMY
Pakistan was not created for Army's ayaashi. It was created by politicians and lawyers like Jinnah, Jauhar and Sir Syed. The Army must return to the barracks for good and let the civilians rule the country. If they can defend the borders of our state efficiently and diligently that would be their biggest rehmat but our present army has become a zehmat or liability. The faujis should realise this before there is a civil war in Pakistan. Care to explain why the military felt the need for 'another' spacious and sprawling GHQ building on so many acres of land in the heart of Islamabad?* kya yeh zameen inn k baap kee hai?* I hope the new COAS ends this political role of the military for good. His recent statements are encouraging and I sincerely hope that he means it from the bottom of his heart.
It's about time we spent money on the real issues of education and health which have been criminally neglected for so long by successive military dictators and civilians alike. Population overgrowth is another big problem IMO. In 1990 Pakistan's population was 80 million (UK's population was 57 million). In 2008, i.e. in 18 years it has more than doubled (170 million) while the UK population is still only 60 million.

Was it created for the ayaashi of the politicians that have done nothing for the country except loot maar and splitting the country in two. Whereas, under the Army Pakistan has seen Uprecdented Growth during the past eight years. :)

It's only you and your like who believe that the army is clean. I am sure deep down you know it that even junior army officers get many plots for free (among other perks) these days. That is a form of corruption IMO. Just go and visit lalazaar in Rawal Pindi where (forget serving and retired generals) even majors and colonels have sprawling houses.

It is easy to blame the Army for all your ills and sweep under the carpet the loot maar and destruction of Pakistan that was done by the so-called civilian democratic governments of Pakistan. At least under the Army rule, Pakistan has seen Uprecdented Growth. Long may it continue. :k:

Yes sir I did . Thanks for the link. According to article the biggest problem is absense of accountability.
Ok now how to bring the accontability ? There will never be a corrouption free accountability system in Pakistan. So what to do ? Nothing ? I am an average Pakistani, I do not have any network or following. But I am hoping may be someone might have a magic wand which will solve the problems in Pakistan once they have been identified.

I am hoping once they are identified. Then someone will appear with a magic wand from the corner of the sky and and solve all these problems with one swish of this magic wand.
If I cannot solve the problems I can help identify them , maybe ,someone with the right mindset once comes to power ,will have a list and will solve those issues. I can only pray to Allah.

Did I ever say that our politicians are clean or not blameworthy but I would still like to see an elected civilian President and PM rather than some self-serving military dictator who has no plans whatsoever to give up his kursi. The way to purge the political set-up is thru letting the people decide their future via successive elections. In time strong democratic and legal institutions will take care of corrupt and incompetent politicians. Besides the elected leaders (as in every country) are answerable to the people of the country and not to the military of Pakistan. Self-serving military dictators are no viable alternative either.

The Army had been in power for the majority of Pak’s existence, has denied democracy, or any good leaders from taking root.
Even with the billions of US aid that props these regimes up, Pak is in a worse state than when the Army takes over

Not really. Musharraf is a tiny part of the problem, or should I say latest addition to the problems, Pakistan has been suffering thru various problems from 1947-2007.

IMO, *Education * is the single largest problem of Pakistan. Somehow we have to educate the masses.
Leave alone to people who are illiterate, even the people who are literate (including myself) and have opportunities to learn more don't do expand their vision. During last 7-8 years I have done projects for US Govt agencies and couple of universities in NC and I have found that Chineese and Indians are always willing to (and looking for) ways to get more education while we just got stuck with whatever degrees we have.
