Good to see an Old Warrior Back :) I hope and wish he brings luck with him for the team.
Pakistan's problems are 2 fold:
1) We have only 2 really world class batsmen-Inzi and Yousuf, with Anwar not what he once was. The rest are very average and tend to have one if not more fundemental faults. They are prone to collapse like a pack of cards under pressure.
2) Our bowling is great, but the linch-pins are getting old, and Wasim has pulled out of the test arena now. Waqar is still good, but not what he once was, which leaves great pressure on the S's and co-and although they are great talents, it will take them time to adjust to being linch-pins and frontline bowlers for Pakistan.
Our internal strife and crap fielding dont help either.
Don't you guys think PCB is getting a little carried away, I know I know, we played pathetically but what good is it going to do to hire the same coach who was part of Pakistan's embarassment in the hands of Aussies 2 years back when Pakistan were white washed by the aussies in the test series, what good is he going to do now?
I don't mind the sacking of Mudassar Nazar but they need to bring in someone like Dave Whatmore of Srilanka, look at how he turned his team around.
It would be very dissappointing if Moin Khan comes back and poor Rashid Latif gets booted just because Waqar's captaincy was bad and he would had to suffer since there will be only one place for one keeper.
I'm still shocked that Wasim and Anwar have turned down the offer to play Australia in the test series, that is very dissappointing on the behalf of both Anwar and Wasim, they are world class players and they shouldn't give up after couple of losses.
Specially Saeed who has been looking in his classy form for the past couple matches.
Team politics is already prevalent and by recalling Javed Miandad it will be the same if not worst!. So I don't think so it's a wise idea. Why do you think he was sacked twice? The team performaces also deteoriated and politics was on the rise at the same time!
It is better off for PCB to hire a foreign coach-Foreign coaches are all about business and get their priorites straight- that is to win. They dont have any bad history with the players or anything. I'm sure players will get along with a foreign coach than with a desi.
Can somebody explain me why Richard pybus is being recalled? is it just because he has a white skin with no strong cricketing knowledge/background. The only good thing I heard about him that he gets along with all players.
\isn’t it the same bypass who was Wasim Akram’s friend and thats why he became the coach?
why bring him back now? We ran out of options or something? ![]()
I personally think its a wise decision on part of Wasim. I would miss his presence in the series but the thing is World Cup is more important and at this age he needs to preserve his energy. Not sure about saeed though, playing at places like Sharjah would have helped him regain his form, I mean he ain’t that old abhi.
One thing is clear though we gonna suffer at the hands of Aussies once more ![]()
well yeah
Rashid is not axed but taking a break... being stupid i think
Moin will tkae his chance and wont let go in batting specially.. Moin is an average keeper... but batting ker jata hai.. I hope Rashid reconsiders..
well i think now the team will be

Misbah
Yousuf
Younis
Faisal Iqbal
AbdulRazzak
Rashid/Moin
Saqlain
Waqa
Shoaib
Sami/Danish Kaneria

OKay guys is that true Wasim, Saeed and Mudassar Nazar officially FIRED!?
Im quite confused since I hear news from every where some some yes some no. Waz the truth now?
Wonder why you guys are making it a big deal of Saeed and Waseem retiring and Waqar should consider it too. One day they have to retire so why not with respect instead of being kicked out? And I think thats the problem with our team if someone performs in one match or breaks some sort of record he gets the stamp to play for life. kya aur koi nahi hai jo acha perform kar sakay. What PAK team would do after the oldies finally decide to leave the team. I think each player should be given no more than 3 chances no mater if its a new talent or oldy. Basically they need danda. zyada say zyada you will lose a player but then on the other hand you can discover better talent who would perform even better.

I would bring back Nazir but not Javed as coach no doubt the guy knows how to use the bat but not coaching, nah I don't think so.
Thats my opinion so don't get mad guys :)
Muddasar Nazar sacked??
wat would the guppies say ? right decision or wrong? I for one , think that it is wrong decision..follies of the team should not be thrust on him..probably a scapegoat..

Captain, Manager Want New-Look Team
KARACHI: Not for the first time is a cat and mouse game being played in the Pakistan cricket corridors with this time captain Waqar Younis and manager Yawar Saeed joining hands in a bid to field a new look Pakistan side in the Test series against Australia next month.
Details gathered by ‘The News’ from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources confirm that Waqar and Yawar have joined hands to try to oust senior players Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Wasim Akram and Rashid Latif from the team before the Test series.
“This has been conveyed to the Board Chairman Lt General Tauqir Zia that Waqar and Yawar don’t want the four seniors in the side now as they hold them responsible for the sudden decline in form,” said one well placed source.
“The interesting thing is that they have even gone against coach Mudassar Nazar who until recently was close to them and he is now being blamed for the team’s poor performances in recent times,” the source confided. What is clear is that when the PCB Chairman held an emergency meeting last Saturday in Rawalpindi with chief selector Wasim Bari, Director Chishty Mujahid and Cricket Operations Manager Zakir Khan, Mudassar was mainly held responsible for not doing his job as coach properly.
“The meeting felt that Mudassar had failed to rise above his close friendships with some players particularly Wasim Akram in ensuring that the players trained hard and collectively to come out of their poor form,” the source said. “It was also felt that Mudassar made no real effort to set things right in the team nor tried to exercise his authority particularly when Wasim was letting the team down in Nairobi with his spate of extras,” the source disclosed.
The meeting believed that it was Mudassar’s job to get Wasim into the nets for long workouts to try to sort out his problem, which he didn’t do. But if this was also not the job of the captain is another issue. The intriguing part is that even in early August chief selector Wasim Bari after watching the Pakistan team train in Lahore under Mudassar’s supervision had told the Board that he did not believe the team would continue its good form from Australia.
“Bari told the Board officials that he was worried Mudassar was not training the players properly and collectively and was soft with some players and that they were not focused enough,” the source said. “Bari in fact compared Mudassar’s training methods to that of South African coach Richard Pybus and that was when the move to bring back the foreign coach had started,” the source added.
The source said at present the position was that Yawar had played his cards brilliantly and Waqar had decided to go with him after facing cooperation problems with some of the senior players particularly Wasim and Inzamam in Tangier and Nairobi. “Basically the message conveyed to the Board by Waqar and Yawar is that it is the emergence of players power and groups in the team which has led to the steep decline in form,” the source said.
“But what they have not conveyed to the Board is that the differences have been over the way Waqar has ignored the advice of the seniors and his poor decisions on the field,” the source noted. **“Yawar held a meeting with the players in Colombo on Sunday in which he and Waqar used pressurising tactics against the senior players telling them the Board after its meeting didn’t want them in the team any longer.” **
According to the source, at one point some of the senior players were so agitated at being blamed for everything that they responded it would be better if they said goodbye to Test cricket and concentrated on one-day cricket. “This very message was leaked out through Mudassar to the press and Yawar then informed the Board that Inzi, Wasim, Saeed and Rashid didn’t want to play the Test series,” the source confided.
"The problem now is that Rashid and Saeed definitely want to play the Test series, but Waqar and Yawar have made up their mind to go into the Test series with a new look team with Richard Pybus as the coach. “To help their case, Pybus has even told the Board he would like to work with Yawar as manager,” the source added.
However in all this scenario, the sad part is that Waqar and Yawar who are as responsible for the team’s decline in form as Mudassar could get away with blue murder by putting the blame on the others. “But the fact is that everyone is to blame for the poor performances and Waqar in particular for his poor tactical decisions and failure to listen to the senior players’ advice and Yawar for interfering in cricket matters which are not his domain,” the source said.
“The Board has to understand that basically this same combination of players helped Pakistan win matches since last year under Waqar’s captaincy. So what has happened in the team that there is talk off non-cooperation from the senior players,” the source questioned. The source said that some of the senior players were so fed up with the situation and being blamed for everything that they were really not interested in playing the Test series, but Rashid and Saeed didn’t want out as they believe they can contribute to the team.
As things stand, some of the senior players believe that even with a new coach and team, Pakistan is likely to face a hard time in the Tests against the in-form Australians and they don’t want to be part of any more debacles given Waqar’s attitude. "One can understand the frustration of the senior players because of the refusal of Waqar and Yawar to cooperate with them and take them into confidence. Saeed for instance is frustrated because he believes that they are not being fair to him. "
“Saeed returned to the team after a complete six months break from cricket and has found it hard to adjust back to international cricket like any other player. But he believes he is finding his touch and match fitness and wants to play the Test series, which he is not being allowed to do.” Ironically Saeed commands an excellent record in Tests against the Australians having scored three hundreds and a ninety in the last two series against them.
“Saeed has tried to convey to Waqar and Yawar that after having trained intensively with trainer Dennis Waight in Colombo for the last two weeks he is now feeling much fitter and better and can contribute a lot against the Australians,” the source stated. As it is cricket experts believe that against the terrifying and in-form pace attack of the Australians, Saeed still remains the best bet to take them on with his experience and permanent class compared to the inexperience of the other openers
Looks like Waqar's days are over.
One bad series against AUS and he will be out and all 4 will be back in team. :)
Pakistan's Youhana ruled out of Australia series
Reuters - 17 September 2002
KARACHI (Reuters) - Pakistan batsman Yousuf Youhana has been ruled out of next month's test series against Australia with a shoulder injury, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director Chishty Mujahid said on Tuesday.
"Doctors carried out a bone scan on Youhana's shoulder today in Kandy and it was confirmed he would not be able to play the test series," Mujahid told Reuters.
"Youhana will not be considered because doctors have advised him to take four to six weeks rest."
Youhana is the fourth senior member of the crisis-hit Pakistan side to be ruled out of the tests in Colombo and Sharjah.
Wasim Akram and Saeed Anwar have opted out of the series while Inzamam-ul Haq has been advised to rest to recover from a foot injury.
Youhana has been carrying the shoulder injury for the last two months.
He was sent back to Pakistan from Nairobi last month on disciplinary grounds, but played in Pakistan's opening Champions Trophy defeat by Sri Lanka on Thursday.
"Obviously the selectors would now consider a replacement for Youhana before the test series, which is very important to us," Mujahid said.
are we looking at 3-0 Series. :)
