Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards

I agree 100% with what you say... However, its about the fundamental rights of the citizens....freedom to choose.... and a wider dislike of islam and all that it stands for. Antibol, you are mashaAllah quite sensible...I have a question, is having a bad judiciary good? Why does the government not do anything about it? Why is injustice tolerated. Although I don't have a beard, but just kicking out people for having beard is like the French telling women not to wear hijab. Even the US is more tolerant.

Re: One pilot forcibly retired, four grounded in crackdown on beards

It's a BRITISH tradition. Unless there is a prgamatic reason, this crackdown should be construed as one on practicing Muslims officers.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards

Thank you.

Not sure how we can mix "freedom to chose" with the dress code of an organization.

Even when you have freedom, you don't wear Shalwar Kameez during Hajj. There is a stipulation of uniform and you must obey while performing the ceremonies.

Sameway, Army and airforce or whatever the corporation you have is going to expect some kind of dress code and facial-appearance.

You are free to leave if you don't like the dress code. But do not harp on "freedom to chose" just for a beard or Shalwar Kameez.

Re: One pilot forcibly retired, four grounded in crackdown on beards

This is a simple matter of the dress code of an organization in this case Air Force.

You wear Shalwar Kameez or Arabic Toap to the runway, and you will be kicked out of AF. Even when you have freedom, you don't wear Shalwar Kameez during Hajj. There is a stipulation of uniform and you must obey while performing the ceremonies.

Sameway, Army and airforce or whatever the corporation you have is going to expect some kind of dress code and facial-appearance.

Mods! Same topic is discussed in Pak-1 as well. Please merge the two.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards

If it was just a matter of 'dress code', they would have not been allowed to grow the beard in the first place, and it certainly wouldn't have been a news item.

They have only been told now they cannot keep a beard due to Mush's anti-Islamic drive, at the behest of Bush.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards

Oh Lukhnawai khan Sahib! First the news itself is of dubious nature, and secondly organizations can change policies anytime they want.

On another note, Shalwar Kameez culture has just ruined the morale in our offices in Pakistan. What if a large organization changes its policy tomorrow and restricts wearing Shalwar Kameez to Jumma only. Will you be bad-mouthing Prez. Musharraf and Prez. Bush?

May be we ought to expect garbage coming out of bad-mouths anyway.

Damn! These Pakistan bashers never quit.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

I thought Pakistan was an Islamic republic? Wasn't it created for Muslims so that they can practice their faith in peace and secuirty?

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

^ Yeah it is, and those that are so adamant about it can do so by not joining the airforce, for there is no room for political/religious bias in the armed forces of any type.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

If the article is true, it does clearly mention that the bearded pilot returned from an advanced fighter training course in the USA when asked to shave.

One would assume that such a course would involve flying a US military plane in the USA … and presumably the US Air Force would have had no problem with the beard.

On the other hand, the source of the article is still suspect. The Herald’s website for March 06 makes no reference to such an article, which one would assume would be big news in Pakistan given the amount of sensitivity about a) religion and b) the military.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

^ I've just read the article ..it is very much in the latest issue of the herald..anyway the crackdown on beards is old news..most of the senior army officers who helped mush get into power have been ousted because of their beards..Bushs friendship is more important than ones friends I gather..

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

If you are in Pak, pick up the Herald, it is in there as a column article, I read it myself.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

I remember that when Shaukat Aziz first became Prime Minister, some Pakistani papers were claiming that his wife was a Jewish lady called “Gloria Cohen Aziz”, when in fact she is a Pakistani called Rukhsana. :hehe:

Even if there is such an article it does not make it true. As I stated earlier there are scores of federal government ministers with beards, yet no one has touched them. If you see the military parades in Pakistan you will notice many bearded officers in the line up, which is proof enough of the lies that certain sections of the media come up with. Had such stories been true, as you said there would be more of a fuss in Pakistan, but it is just trashy lies, just like Shaukat Aziz’s “Jewish wife”

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

Some people just don't want to believe things they don't like.

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

I go to actual military parades in Pakistan, and have seen many a bearded officer in the line up. Any trashy lies can be printed as we have a relatively free press thanks to Musharraf, but that does not make them fact. I have seen the reality up front, unlike many here.

The very pro-Musharraf Chief Minister of Sindh province.

Some people seem to have forgotten he has a very noticeable beard. :hehe:

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

i heard mma is appealing against this new air force head in the parliament....

Re: Pakistan Airforce Crackdown on Beards (merged)

I read in the press that the 9/11 planes where remote controlled and flown into the WTC towers by the FBI under the command of Mossad. It must be true then it was in the paper.

Must have done wonders for the uptake of circulation and money in pocket. Believe what you want, but printing 'hear say' doesnt make it true.

Oh wise one, we are talking about the PAF specifically
