haris has impressed me. good composure, good balance, plays late, good foot movement against spin and good shot selection.
and why not. the only player along foad alam who averages above 50 in the first class. i told this before and will say it again, all these asad shafiqs, umar akmals, ahmed shezads, shan masoods, sami aslams are pathetic players. you guys wont believe it but in first class cricket:
sami aslam averages 35
shan masood averages 33
asad shafiq our bradman averages 38
umar amin averages 39
i mean this is your top talent. how do you expect them to average above 40 in international cricket when these pathetic players average around 35 on your dead Pakistani pitches in first class where standard is too low?
players who average 52 (foad alam), 50 (haris) in our first class cricket have been kept out from cricket forever by inzi and his likes. and inzi just shamelessly selected his bhanja called imal ul haq for ODIs who averages 37 in the first class but refused to select foad alam who averages 52 …
I had to take a look at his figures in scorecard twice closely to make sure I was reading it right that its only 1 over. Thats brilliant but unfortunate when the batsmen suck
Still a very long way to go for Pakistan however good to see some fight shown by these two after predictably yet another top order collapse. Do not expect much from the last 4 (probably 50 runs max.). One more wicket and Sri Lanka know they are into the tail. Sarfraz will not want to be remembered as the first captain to lose a test series in UAE! Herath, so often our nemesis in the 4th innings, could still spoil the party
Both Sami Aslam and esp. Shan Masood have been given given chances imo. Both have failed to impress yet and need to go. 20s and 30s won’t do as test openers.
told the root cause yesterday…and repeating again…all these shan masoods, sami aslams are not going to work no matter what because in first class cricket, sami aslam averages 35 and shan masood averages 33! asad shafiq averages 38, ahmad shezad averages 39, mohammad hafeez average 35 and the list goes on and on…
I mean how the hell these players will average above 40 in international cricket when these pathetic players average around 33-38 on your dead Pakistani pitches in first class where standard is too low? players like pujara, rhiot sharma, cook, warner, amla and many many more (as in top 4 batting positions) average close to 50 or more in first class cricket.
the only player who averaged above 50 for 6 years in row is foad Alam and he has been kicked out forever
pher kehtay hai PD bolta hai…isnt this coach and selection committee job to look into these things
great fight back but that shows that the wicket is nothing and sri lanakns bowlers are pretty ordinary. so why we panicked so much at top?
and what is shan masood and sami asklam doing in this team? both average 35 in first class cricket. why are they in the team? pathetic. hello inzi? are you an idiot for keep on selecting same players again and again? and why didn’t you select foad alam who averages 52? and oh yes inzi, you did select your bhanja imam ul haq shamelessly this time who averages only 36 in first class cricket? shame on you
and why no second spinner ? we saw how effective part time haris has been in both test matches. so then, why the hell a second spinner was not selected and we asked yasir to bowl 60 overs? who is responsible for this? duffer Arhtur?
these are basic strategic questions which no one has answer for and we are at risk of losing test series to one of the weakest international team and that too at our home ground
True but do we have any other quality openers who average 45+ in the domestic game?
Let’s hope for the best but I have watched enough cricket to know that Sri Lanka are still strong favourites. I have seen teams collapse from 200/2 to lose chasing 300+/- in the 4th innings
isnt that the job of PCB officials and selection committee? they need to make it clear to idiots in first class that no chance to represent Pak unless you average at least above 40 in low-standard first class cricket. this will force these players to concentrate more and play longer innings. i mean this shan guy averages 33 and we are trying to make an international player out of this poor soul! no wonder he averages 24 after 11 test matches
and if we cannot find plyaers above 40 in first class, that says it all about Pakistan cricket talent
