Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

The match will be a draw, Inshallah.

Misbah might hang around for a while but I feel it is really upto the two Akmal brothers to take us to safety. Another 130-140 runs should make the game safe for us

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

Tuffey can stay 80* while our batsmen fail to stay on crease for longer and lose concentration, they stayed on crease till they got into 60s and then suddenly lost it, why?

Looks like we will have to wait for some new generation from whom we can expect century or double, this lot of batsmen is not going to do it except for Moyo and Yono.

I guess both openers just did not respect Guptill (as a bowler) and paid the price.

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

^ Guptill is a wicketless bowler even in domestic (only one wicket), it was lack of concentration from our batsmen that did them in.

Why?
I'll tell you - Tuffey was facing the MoYo Plan "A" all the way - nothing new tried and Aamer could not bowl due to being sick -
so an half all rounder like Tuffey who could "tough it out" managed all those runs...

while for 2 openers Vettori immediately came in the day 4 morning session with not just a plan "B" but a lot of new plans and 1 of them, trying Guptil, worked beautifully -

Thinking Captain vs. *tortoise obsessive compulsive mentallity - plus the TJ influence on MoYo - sar jhuka kay dua kartay raho....keep with same plan -

From Cricinfo

It was a day that had everything: a comically manic start from the most unlikely source, a calm hand from a veteran, an edgy attempt to save a career, a cocky kid, and a lingering suspense about what tomorrow might bring.

Inshallah - that’s what it seems and it will be “saving grace” for the Pakis…and all of us fans…

Also, wishfully thinking - If Pakis try to be a little more confident and play positive - bat all the way down to the tail hitting hard, we could set NZ up for a 250+ target…by the end of the first 30 overs of the 5th day - then let them have 60 and face Kaneria - their “Nemesis” …:hayaa:
kind of what “wiki” was saying - I like that dream as well…haha

Guptill was not any 'threatening' bowler, if our batsmen had shown some resolve, patience there was no way he'd have become a hero out of no where. Look at Faisal Iqbal, he was fine for so long then all of a sudden he started to lose close to 50 when he got a chance, even after that he didn't stabilise and stayed edgy finally got out in 60s.

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

Loss of Yousuf's wicket has given NZ hope and given us a big scare. InshaAllah the rest of the bats No5-8, can put their heads down and take us to a lead of about 250 and it should be a draw. Nothing in this wicket for Danish to dismiss NZ in less than 60 overs.

Starting with Guptill's was a smart plan. Even in their dreams, the Pakistan team never even would have discussed him. He was the unknown. Something I think Yousuf lacks very much, thinking outside of the box and coming up with ingenious plans.

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

There's no point in going for the win. When only 4 wickets fell yesterday, taking 6 Paki wickets and 10 NZ wickets is almost impossible in 90 overs. They should frustrate NZ bowlers as long as they can, play out as many overs as possible.

I think Guptill did bowl few overs on day 3 towards the end, so he was not totally unknown for Butt and Farhat.

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

Dream scenario: Pakistan adds 150 runs in first session tomorrow and than rips NZ batting :)

Who says Guptil is or was threatening - At best he is no different then Aamer Sohail when he used to bowl that lef tarm off spin -
its the "sudden change" that catches the batsmen at that time if and when they are not concentrating hard...

exactly what happened, and exactly the point....

take it easy Kaptaan....:)

It is simple. If everything will go according to plans for Pakistan, we have a draw. Pakistan will never try to make it an interesting game and give them a target like Steve Waugh used to do. However it will be interesting if Pakistan collapses and Kiwis are forced to bat and chase something like 200-215. It will become tricky since they will try to chase it at least in the begining.

Re: Pak v NZ - 3rd Test - 11-15 Dec. 09 @ Napier

Chances of;

Draw: 50%
NZ Win: 40%
Pak Win: 10%

Yousuf stated in the last match, thats he is unable to control Umar at all.. He plays with his mood and style..... ALHAMDOLILLAH he is doing good though..

:)

:D Day dreaming ??

Your assumption is wrong sir. Guptil was given the ball first thing in the morning so Martin can bowl from his favourite end. Its just a coincident that he got wicket, even he still can't believe that he got wickets. Read cricinfo. Vettorri is MoYo's brother, you must know it by now. He is no different. Pakistani openers took him as a time pass bowler and paid the price.

Well not quite

Pakistan did just that in the second test which is our exact lead (99) at the moment.

I know this pitch is a lot different but bizzare & funny things are known to happen on day 5 and NZ’s batting is brittle too.
