Rao and Taufeeq are coming to save the day. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.........
Someone at the PCB should step and take responsibility for this fiasco. God knows they have enough people on fat contracts. Match winners are dropping like flies yet just a few weeks ago they were playing tamasha matches at Jeddah, Abu Dhabi and useless county fixtures. Why is the cricket board is devoid of any responsibility?
Salman and Farhat have their problems, but Taufeeq Umer is not an answer to any of Pakistan's problems.
TAUFEEQ FREAKING UMER! The guy does sprints across the width of the crease as the bowler is coming to bowl to him. He's going to save us in England? Heck, even Afridi786 can bat better than Taufeeq Umer (i think).
Hey here's an idea, I think it will be better if we fall 220 short of the target, are asked to follow on, then go on to score 500 and ask England to bat last against Kaneria.... Hmm, has happened before! :D
Nah, it was difficult for him man. He's an able night watchman, but you can't expect to tackle the new ball well, something, even our 'specialist new ball handlers', i.e., openers, can't do satisfactorily.
I dont think Asif is going to be a big problem. All indications are that he will be fit for the second test. Here is the news from the camp:
However, Asif, ruled out of the opening Test because of a tennis elbow, is hopeful of passing a fitness test before the team's departure to Manchester. (Cricinfo)
However, Woolmer is optimistic the crisis will have eased by the time the next match in the four-Test series starts at Old Trafford on 27 July. "Younis Khan and Mohammad Asif are making good progress and we hope to have them available for the second Test," he said. (BBC sports)

Nope, the news we are telling you about is the latest. Asif is being sent back, along with a batsman, Shoaib Malik I think. Geo TV broke the news about 15 minutes ago, with Taufeeq and Iftikhar being called up as replacements :(
By the way, I didn't think Inzimam did much wrong in his captaincy role yesterday. Of course, no two people always think alike, so we are always going to be in disagreement over a few things all the time, like complaints about Afridi being underbowled. However, I don't think there were any extremely bad or silly decisions that we have complained about in the past. So all the people bashing Inzi as a captain can give it a rest, at least in this match.
p.s: If anything, Inzi (and the bowlers) did quite well yesterday. If Imran Farhat had held onto half the catches that came his way, we could have realistically bowled them out under 300 for sure!

And Yeah I can bat better, I don't edge or get bowled by straight balls.

Perhaps you wanted to say that unlike Taufeeq Umer, you don't get bowled AROUND your legs, three times in the same series!
Commentators often talk about batsmen who don't know where their off-stump is and don't cover it successfully. Here we have a batsman who doesn't even know where his LEG STUMP is!!!
Salman Butt hit a mental block playing against Irfan Pathan earlier this year, and never recovered from it. Pathan is only good as a bowler in the first 4 or 5 overs when the ball is very new, and unfortunately for us, Butt lost his confidence against his swing.
I don't think bringing Taufeeq Umer in the squad is going to help his confidence.
Imran Farhat, is better than Salman Butt in the respect that he's less susceptible to getting caught behind his stumps against the moving ball. However, I 'had' always preferred Butt over Imran Farhat because he has a better temperament. After he recovers from his initial nervousness, Butt has the capacity to make it count, and make big scores. He's played a vital role in our successful chases (some huge ones) in the past 18 months. Imran Farhat on the other hand, gets edgy after he crosses 40, and you can almost sense that he now feels that he has shown the 'good performance' he needed to show for that match, and can now start assaulting the bowlers with abandon. Hence, you see him getting out to miscued pulls and hooks ON THE FRONT FOOT in his 40s!
However, it's quite possible that Imran Farhat will learn (and showed signs of it yesterday). If he calms down a bit, he certainly can be more valueable than Salman Butt.
We should however, also think about getting a sports psychologist to speak with Salman Butt.
28.4 Hoggard to Inzamam-ul-Haq, no run, big, big shout for one which angles back into Inzamam. But he got a good stride forward and replays show the ball pitched outside off. Steve Bucknor, as is his wont, took about 12 minutes to make his decision
