Pak V England - First test Match

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Cook 100

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Cook should also go and shake hands with fielders who offered him new life more then once.

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Why doesn't Bucknor just retire now. He is already old enough to stand out in the middle the whole day and FOCUS on the ball. These umpires just don't wanna leave the field until and unless they are blind!

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

I am no supporter of Sami but his figures today are not bad and if the two catches were taken off his bowling his figures would have looked very respectable.

His figures of 0/69 with a RR of 3.83 are not bad at all.

Overall the day was dominated by butterfingers on Pakistan's side and some wonderful batting by Collingwood and Cook. Hopefully Pakistan will be able to hold their catches tomorrow.

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

common Buckner is an excellent umpire probably in the top 5 umps in the world rite now my to5 are 1) Simon Touffel 2) Rudy Kertzen 3) Aleem Dar 4) Steve Buckner 5) Billy Bowden

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

They need to wash their hand after their oily breakfast in morning tomorrow, otherwise I don’t see a different result :bummer:

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

But he's been making silly mistakes for over a year now. He's turning out to be another David Shepherd!

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Very bad start by Pakistan, did not expect this at all. Our bowlers did a good job but our fielders let us down. If you are going to give batsmen 3-4 chances, off course they'll score big on you. As usual we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Fire Jonty Rhodes…bowlers should aim for LBWs…voilá… :k:

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

  • Akmal's error, grassing Collingwood on 79, needed to seen to be believed. It was a regulation edge as Collingwood pushed away from his body and the wicketkeeper barely got a glove on it. Akmal picked up a finger injury during the warm-up match against England A at Canterbury and there must be some lasting damage from the blow. However, *he should have taken it with his eyes shut. **

Cook was then reprieved for the third time when he flashed outside offstump but **Farhat, at a lone slip position, got nowhere near the catch and almost seemed afraid of the ball. After his **two previous lapses in that position it was a wonder he was still stood there*; he probably wishes he hadn't been. The only person who is answerable to this is the captain himself but he won't have a reasonable answer!
*

Gul, though, persevered and after one huge appeal was turned down against Trescothick - the ball brushed the trousers - got his man. Trescothick flayed at a wide ball and Kamran Akmal, who had not enjoyed a happy morning with the ball swinging, gloved it cleanly. Razzaq then made his first mark by trapping Strauss and **Pakistan should have had three wickets on 60 if it hadn't been for Farhat's eagerness at second slip*

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Wow, what a disaster. Our bowling was very thin and it was vital for our fielders to back them up. Unfortunately they did exactly the opposite by spilling hard earned chances. This is not a one off performance like England had against Sri Lanka. Such fielding displays are becoming regular features in Pakistani cricket. Up till now the results have masked such inadequacies.

Captaincy again was shocking. But that is only to be expected with Inzi in charge. Farhat seems to be the only person capable of fielding in the slips despite dropping sitters. So many chances went begging with no third slip. Afridi hardly got the ball the whole day despite troubling the batsmen with the limited opportunity he did get. Also, Razzaq, by far the best bowler for Pakistan, inexplicably bowled the least number of overs in the day. In fact only 5 more after the morning session.

Lets hope the Pakistan batsmen can knuckle down and make amends when they bat. Hopefully we can draw the match because we sure as hell don't deserve to win it.

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Thank Allah...Razzaq LBWd 2 guys...otherwise they would have been dropped too...

Is there any other fielding place for Farhat?

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Yes in the pavilion.

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

yeah...out side the ground. he can field there all he wants.:D

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

wait and watch England fielding :snooty:

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

ehsan bhai: itnaY tappaY huaY kiouN haiN:hehe:?

If Pakistani fielders have taken those catches, they would’ve been the best in the whole world… Pessimistism is the creed of us desi nations… Learn to respet your players, sometimes they do not do it intentionally… be proud of them :jhanda: [for dropping so many catches, it sends a message about how bad Jhonty Rhodes is, Really:D]

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

I think the captain should take appropriate action against the fielder on repeating mistakes...or change his field position or send him to toilet for break and give chance to a sub... :)

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

I was thinking of the top of the Lords balcony! Not a bad view at all. He can focus well from there! He did the same in the last series and still lands up in the slips!

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Not a single person here expected him to do wonders with our team in such a short stint. He was just asked to visit Pakistan since PCB didn’t know where to throw those extra bucks!

Re: Pak V England - First test Match

Guys...see you tomorrow...I hope this match will endup in a draw... :)
