when will umar gul return from his back injury? in time for tour of australia or not? he is 1 guy who know's how to swing the ball
^
LOL, don't wait up for Umar Gul. Bechara has multiple back fractures and won't be back for a long time if ever. I would say perhaps next year, but a lot of bowlers have there careers ended by stress fractures.
In other news, early reports (Indus News) says that Imran Farhat, Salman Butt and Azhar Mahmood will be dropped for Iftikhar Rao, Bazid Khan, and Yasser Arafat.
I don't understand it myself because that would leave us an openor short, i.e. that means Afridi has to open with Hameed, not the #1 choice IMO
Atleast the GOOD NEWS is that Dish Network is showing all the matches in North America. For 100 US Dollars, they are showing the 7 one-dayers AND the 2 test matches versus Sri Lanka. The price, for once, is not too high in my opinion.

PCB worried about coverage](BBC SPORT | Cricket | PCB worried about coverage)
The Pakistan Cricket Board fears a dispute over television rights could affect coverage of the imminent matches involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
**Dubai channels Ten Sports and ARY, who both secured rights for Pakistan cricket last year until 2008, are set to meet in a Lahore court on Monday. **
"We are worried because they have gone to court against each other.
“It is possible one will say ‘give rights to both parties or no-one’,” PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said.
"And that could affect the telecast of the series.
"It is a mutual conflict between them, not with us. They were partners when they took the rights but now have developed differences which do not involve us.
"We are supporting no-one. We have remained positively neutral with each side.
“But if they don’t reach a compromise then we are worried.”
The shared deal that was struck in 2003 runs until 2008 and came at a cost of £24m.
Pakistan are scheduled to host Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in a one-day triangular series beginning on Saturday.
They are also due to play Sri Lanka in a two-Test series starting on 20 October.
At the start of New Zealand’s visit last year, a television dispute between a private channel and the state-owned Pakistan Television led to the blackout of the first match in Lahore.
The matter was resolved after the government intervened.
Pakistan’s neighbours India are presently involved in a broadcasting wrangle ahead of the upcoming series against Australia.
The Zee Network has taken legal action to stop the Indian cricket board from reopening the bidding process for TV rights.
Bazid, Misbah and Iftikhar back in squad
Wisden Cricinfo staff
September 27, 2004
Azhar Mahmood and Imran Farhat have been left out of Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the three-nation Paktel Cup, which starts on September 30. Bazid Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, both middle-order batsmen, and Iftikhar Anjum, a right-arm seamer, have been included in the line-up.
Farhat played two matches in the Champions Trophy. He scored an unbeaten 38 against Kenya, but was then dropped from the semi-finals team after making a fourth-ball duck against India. Salman Butt, his replacement, lasted only two balls in that match, but has managed to retain his place in the squad. Mahmood was a late inclusion in the Champions Trophy squad but didn’t play a single match. Shabbir Ahmed, who withdrew from the Champions Trophy due to injury, has also been omitted.
Bazid, Misbah and Iftikhar have all been rewarded for some fine performances with the A team on the recent tour to Kenya. Pakistan start the tournament with a match against Zimbabwe at Multan on September 30.
Pakistan squad
1 Yasir Hameed, 2 Salman Butt, 3 Shoaib Malik, 4 Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), 5 Yousuf Youhana, 6 Younis Khan, 7 Misbah-ul-Haq, 8 Bazid Khan, 9 Abdul Razzaq, 10 Moin Khan (wk), 11 Shahid Afridi, 12 Naved-ul-Hasan, 13 Shoaib Akhtar, 14 Mohammad Sami, 15 Iftikhar Anjum.

I am delighted to see Bazid included in the squad. He was the most deserving one, more than Misbah. Good selection. Iftikhar bowled really well in Tour to Kenya and hope he makes his way in the team.
The way Pakistan is playing right now ( Confused - inconsistant and with out purpose ) should not be playing with such sides except for SL. ZAM & BD are a mere waste of time, and will not provide any match practice to them. Both side should not be allowed to play internationa matches ( Zimbabwe did not go beyond Flower brothers and thats about it. They use cricket for more political and democracy stand then a game.
BD are still waiting for their maidin win against ‘some one’ and I’m afraid Pakistan might again come to their rescue,![]()
Shame on you PCB for these fixtures and agreeing to ICC set up, and also to provide this kind of $hitty teams,. ![]()
Pakistan has scraficed a lot in the name of ‘Cricket Promotion’ in the south east asia, while India abstained from Shrajah , BD and similar tourneys,

Why do you think Bazid is better than Misbah? any particular reason/performance?
^ for two reasons. Misbah has been given oppurtunities but could not establish himself well enough. Now he is getting old while Bazid has age on his side. Their recent performances are quite similar as well. I am not saying that Misbah doesnt deserve another chance but Bazid deserves a call up more than Misbah's recall. Hope both can form reliable back up batting strengths.
Misbah is getting a bit old but seems like a quality batsman. Bazid should be a great talent for the future.
Other good news is Asims back on the team as well (for the 2 tests against Lanka)
The bad news, in my opinion...
Mansoor Amjad , Muhammad Irshad are left out.

fair enuff yaar
but i would drop Rana, Yunis and maybe Salman Butt to make room
I know Rana bowled well but the guys looks just annoy me :)
i wonder how can they drop azhar without giving him a chance to play...he has been showing excellent form with both bat and ball in county...if afridi and misbah can get second chances, so does this guy deserves it...
^
he was good for england but subcontinent conditions will give him no assistance in movement and he will be left as a mediocre medium pacer....
I think you are in wrong forum, you should be in Fashions forum, Athletic Fashions or some other mixture :p

I heard that Asher Zaidi is a gret batsman, but unfortunately the guy is supposedly **grossly oveweight*, I mean more so than Inzi ever was which is pretty bad. I don't know why we can't ever just get a decent batsman without some kind of other problems.
