Hameed is great talent and he is learning, I will not drop him at all.
Farhat/Imran Nazir both have failed recently, Bob can try Asher Zaidi or Bazid Khan as opener with Hameed or try Bazid Khan as 1 down.
Team aganist Zimbabwe should be..(resting both YoYO & Inzi)
this is one option:
01 Hameed
02 Asher Zaidi / Salam Butt
03 Bazid Khan
04 Misbha
05 Asim Kamal
06 Qasier Abbas
07 Abdul Razzq /Bilal Assad
08 Zulqarnain Haider
09 Rao Ifthikar
10 Mohd Sami / Mohd Hafeez
11 Mohammad Irshad
^ excluding Yasir, the above team looks like a probable Pakistan A team. I don't think selectors should rest so many of current team just to give new blood a try.
They have already tried whole-sale changes post WC'03. They should focus on current team and groom some players on the side by introducing 2-3 players per series in case some player is out of form/injured.
why is this thread not merged with the original thread??? :hoonh:

Are ARY Digital broadcasting the series in UK anyone?
i've seen irshad , he's quick n accurate ..

Zimbabweans 187 for 4 (Taylor 90*) trail PCB Patron’s XI 529 for 9 dec (Misbah-ul-Haq 130, Aamer Bashir 100*, Riaz Afridi 66, Naumanullah 56) by 342 runs

An unbeaten 90 from Brendan Taylor, the highest score of his first-class career, ensured that the Zimbabweans enjoyed a better second day in their tour match against the Pakistan Cricket Board Patron’s XI at Lahore. When bad light forced a premature close, the tourists were 187 for 4 in reply to the Patron’s XI’s 529 for 9 declared, a deficit of 342.
Taylor’s innings included a six and 15 fours, and helped prevent a collapse after the Zimbabweans were reduced to 106 for 3. Taylor added 81 for the fourth wicket before Yasir Arafat trapped Vusi Sibanda leg-before for 34 shortly before stumps.
The Patron’s XI had resumed on 353 for 5, and although they lost two early wickets, Riaz Afridi, with a 53-ball 66, and Aamer Bashir put on a brisk 119 for the eighth wicket. Stuart Matsikenyeri removed Afridi, but Iftikhar Anjum kept Bashir company long enough for him to reach his hundred.

Not bad,,, I would rest Sami as well. I feel sorry for poor Salman Butt. They give him a chance and its in a huge game with terrible conditions. that has to be really bad for his confidence. I heard that Asher Zaidi is a gret batsman, but unfortunately the guy is supposedly grossly oveweight, I mean more so than Inzi ever was which is pretty bad. I don't know why we can't ever just get a decent batsman without some kind of other problems.
I'd love to see Asim come into the side he played so well against India. If he does'nt play now, there are tests coming up against Lanka and that will be his chance to get a solid spot.
Also, theres lots of buzz about M.Irshad. Supposedly the guy is wicked fast and has good line and legnth now as well. He's 22 and could be a future star for us. I think Shoaib once said in an interview that Irshad bowls consistently like 150 which would put him right up there in the world....

Zimbabweans 324 (Taylor 141) and 142 for 8 trail PCB Patron’s XI 529 for 9 dec (Misbah-ul-Haq 130, Aamer Bashir 100*, Riaz Afridi 66, Naumanullah 56) by 63 runs
Despite a maiden first-class hundred from Brendan Taylor, Zimbabwe finished the third day of their tour match against the Pakistan Cricket Board Patron’s XI just two wickets away from an innings defeat. Taylor top-scored with 141 as Zimbabwe managed 324 all out in their first innings, but the Patron’s XI fast bowlers dominated day three, sharing the wickets as Zimbabwe then collapsed to 142 for 8, still 63 runs behind.
Resuming 10 runs away from the milestone this morning, Taylor went to his century during a 42-run partnership with Tatenda Taibu, his captain. But once their stand was broken, wickets fell regularly, and Zimbabwe were 279 for 9 before a cameo innings from Graeme Cremer, the 18-year-old legspinner, took them past 300 to a fairly respectable score.
However, Zimbabwe couldn’t escape the follow-on, and they were soon in trouble in their second innings, with the makeshift opening pair, Vusi Sibanda and Stuart Matsikenyeri, both dismissed before the score had passed 20. Obviously trying to give all his batsmen some time in the middle, Taibu played around with his batting order, sending Taylor down the order. Not that it mattered, as Taylor was soon at the crease anyway, with Dion Ebrahim, Alester Maragwede and Mark Vermeulen all making starts, but failing to capitalise. Taylor failed the second time round too, and the Patron’s XI will probably wrap up a resounding victory tomorrow morning.
After this match, the next item on Zimbabwe’s challenging agenda will be the opening one-dayer of the Paktel Cup, against Pakistan, on September 30 at Multan.

Actually the world needs people who can look beyond personal/petty issues. Whats your problem if he is heavy? If he can deliver then I don't see anything wrong here. He scored 200+ against Zimbabwe, shows some temprament which our so many "fit", "slim" players need so badly.
How is that personal or petty? ![]()
If a guy is obese how would he play international cricket, especially ODI’s
You know how much running/fielding you gotta do at that level. If you want to play sports at an elite level, you better be in passable shape.
Anyways, I just heard that, I have’nt seen him play so how fat he really is I can’t say, hopefully it’s not as bad as rumoured becuase we certainly need a new openor…
Asher Zaidi did score 200+, so we already know that he can run and take singles and doubles. (Someone should check his domestic run-out record and compare it with Inzi).
You are correct about the level of athleticism required in ODI and no one said that he is in perfect shape, he does need to work hard if he wants to be contender. I am sure if Asher wants to be in ODI he will do what ever it takes to prepare himself.
I personally think if Bazid Khan can play #2 and Misbah can fill #3 we should be a pretty decent team. Asim can be 13th player and can fill in when needed.
i dont want to be rude, but i think that u shouldnt make such big comments after the pathetic performance of our team in the semi final...

Also why the heck Pakistan play with lousy teams like Zimbabvwe.
I think ICC should review Zim and BDSH test status. They are going no where.

Zimbabweans 324 (Taylor 141) and 167 (Anjum 3-26, Amjad 3-39) lost to PCB Patron’s XI 529 for 9 dec by an innings and 38 runs
It took the Pakistan Cricket Board Patron’s XI under an hour to wrap up a comfortable innings-and-38-run victory over the touring Zimbabweans, as both Iftikhar Anjum and Mansoor Amjad finished with three wickets apiece. Despite a maiden first-class hundred from Brendan Taylor, Zimbabwe had finished the third day just two wickets away from defeat, and there was to be no reprieve on the final morning.
