Is there any such forum? Many times I decided to leave GS but when failed to find an alternative, I had to come back. Poor me!

Yep. I registered on ratedesi (no not this nick :D) and contacted admin… no one ever replied to me.

I’d like to think I’d get a reply AND action if it were on GS :snooty:

^ I got approved at ratedesi fairly quickly but it doesn't come close to GS.
I am talking about a couple of other forums :)

I have taken part in only 2 online Desi Communities

First one was desichat.com. Its not in business anymore but man that was some site. Wonderful people (I am talking 1998-2000). I was single, aged 23/24 at that time and I enjoyed every bit of it. Made some good friends and more. Had wonderful discussions with many regular visitors. Went on to meet few in California, Washington, NY, Karachi and ISB.

Second one is gupistan. I joined it in 2000 or may be 1999 (dont rem correctly) when it was a Pakistani directory (with name paklinks.com.pk) and nothing more. It has evolved for good and I enjoy whatever time I spend here.

I did for quite some time but not from last 5-6 years or so. Specially ones in karachi. I meet them whenever I visit Pakistan and/or California

Few of my female friends (understandably?) cut the contacts off after getting married although I even met with the families of couple of those in NY. Anyway, I dont have any hard feelings for this...

oh yeah and I also met Altamash once (owner of the DesiChat) and owner of the company which developed Dawn.com. I think he had stakes in Dawn newspaper too

i used to on irc (dalnet) so much.. its not a site but a chatting tool.. it changed me a lot.. :)

Hmmm.... now I understand why there used to be ads of DesiChat in Dawn.

It was a big mystery for me in those days, how can a chat website pay for expensive ads in newspapers.

I also chatted on mIRC a lot in 2000-2001 :)

MSN had chat in those days which was closed due to an incident involving seduction and rape of a young girl in UK through MSN chat.

So coming back to topic.

Since so many people have posted links to other forums, I think its safe for me to post 2 forum links that i would compare with GS in terms of quality.

One is http://pakfuse.com which looks like a ripoff of GS, but it has very few members and they did not approve my registration.

Second is MuziqPakistan.com forum: http://www.muziqpakistan.com/board/index.php
They also never approved my account.
