Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
No, it would be considered a personal preference because as a parent you're allowed to have certain expectations from your kids. If however the daughter comes up and says that she likes a black man for his qualities and virtues then the parent being a good parent wouldn't object to it.
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
There is a difference between having a preference for your kids and actually forcing them to go through with it.
Word. We're all entitled to our preferences and expressing them.
this would be considered racist by most ppl..
Ugh that is just PC bull**** we're being fed. I'm sorry but no sane human being will call you racist for that. Would be, could be, should be...
Whatever, we're not cookie cutter moulds and we refuse to be. Why doesn't everyone dress up in one particular item of clothing? Why don't we all have one hair style? Why don't we all eat the same food? Why don't we all drink the same water? Why don't we all speak just one language? Why don't we all follow one single religion?
Why don't we all hold hands and sing Kumbaya till kingdom come???

Because that is a silly notion. End of.
British society you know. You have to be PC because big brother is watching.
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
You’re such a racist bigot Rizla! :nono:
But its true, Britain is awfully PC and that does not always mean a better society. And the whole Big Brother phenomenon is very true as well. Its like people aren’t allowed to have a different opinion. Sucks.

Yeah well hundreds of years of perpetrated racism and bigotry does that to people.
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
No its not racist if you want to marry someone of your "own kind"....IMO anybody who thinks that is just as stupid as the ppl who exclusively hate anyone not fo their own kind!
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
What is your opinion...and would u want/allow ur kids (or siblings) to stick to only marrying Pakistanis as well??
Yes or no, what would be your reasons?
Yes i will only marry a pakistani- by pakistani i mean anyone who has a pakistani background (not necessarily settled in pakistan). and i would want my kids to marry a pakistani girl/guy too. because i love pakistani culture, i know most of it and i can easily adjust with someone who is a pakistani. similarly my kids will grow up in a pakistani environment so life will be easier if they are gonna choose pakistani life partners. muslims who are not Pakistanis might have their own cultures and beliefs which i might not like and vice versa and which could cause problems. no this is not racism just my preference.
as for my siblings-well it will be my siblings choice. not going to intervene in their matter. my parents will deal with that.
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
I would feel so lost if I cannot share so many things that are uniquely Pakistani such as food, TV, jokes etc with the person I marry. So, Yes I think for a happy and joyful life, a person of the same background and culture is very important. In the case for us it is someone from Pakistan.
Re: Only marrying within your race - racism or preference
Kaalay and chaptay aside, i will be ok qith others.
Very well said. Totally agree with you. I would at least want my kids to look like me. Nothing racist about that. Kaalay and Chaptay are very good people, and I would have no problems with them as friends, but physically they are very different from us
