Online application for NICOP and POC

Yeah say that to INS in the U.S. To date, there isn't one legal document that you can apply for online in the U.S. Give me one example where you can scan your thumb print, your passport size photo and your signature and submit it online. If you have been through the FI, H1, Green Card and then Naturalization process in the U.S, you would know what I am talking about. If there are some glitches in NADRA's website, some typos and what not, I say you are being too picky.

My hats off to NADRA for making this available to begin with. I don't have to talk to those idiots at pakistan embassies in the U.S anymore.

I got my NICOP and thats what I cared about at the end of the day.

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

Asif, you're comparing oranges to apples. US immigration philosophy is to DISCOURAGE immigration. Nadra's goal seems to be to ENCOURAGE back flow to country.

Secondly, even Nadra should not offer online acceptance of finger printing if it's such an important thing because it can easily be forged. But they include it and it's just a formality. The authenticity or accuracy of a finger print obtained via nadra online appl will always be questioned.

Point is, if you are gonna offer something online then make it good. If you expect half-hearted efforts then half-hearted results you'll get including no point of contact and actual person on the other end to check the status to. There is no accountability to the money I've already paid them because from the looks of it chances are I'm gonna have to call them a lot before even someone can get to the case. Site is clunky and it does reflect negligence so does the overall process.

I have talked to them a couple times using NADRA Live Help on their website. You just have to give some consideration to the timing of it. If you take into account Pakistan standard time, they are always available in their business hours. So use the online help like around midnight here in the U.S and you will be chatting with a live person.

Comparing oranges to apples... fine, but my point was that, making all this available online is very convenient whether you agree or not. Crying over a typo or two wouldn't be fair.

I have helped a few friends getting their and their families NICOPs and to date, I know of 9 NICOPs that were received on time.

I have a nicop card but my paksiatni passport is expired. Does it matter ? Or can I travel on my canadian passport?

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

Mine is not a new NICOP - just change of country of residence from KSA to Canada

The data field where they ask for the date of expiry of your passport, starts with 2008, my passport expired in 2007, so I cant enter the correct date

I have contacted the consulate, who directed me to NADRA, who directed me to their online help line, who have not yet been able to answer this mystery. There was no one available online to CHAT and the email that I sent was returned as undeliverable.

See screenshot

Overall I have been very frustrated with the whole process.
I actually am going through a nightmare right now, all family passports have to be renewed, that involves getting NICOPs for everyone, then theres a new born who has to be registered and then his name endorsed in his mom’s passport.

God Help Me :bummer:

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

^^ Haidar bhai, i guess one should not be able to change address or any other bit of information on an expired card, for that you must renew your card first, and change the address during that process, or after it is renews. so I think this is not a bug or mistake...

When a friend of mine was applying for his daughter’s NICOP, he ran into this exact same issue. Her passport had expired years ago (2004 or somehting). This is an oversight on there part because in order to renew your passport, you need a card. They can’t make a non-expired passport a requirement to apply for a NICOP.

The long story short, my friend selected 2008 and submitted the copy of the expired passport (scanned) with the expiry date highlighted. He got his daughter’s NICOP in about a month after which he applied to renew her passport using the new NICOP.

renewing the EAD or AP can be done electronically but it takes longer than paper filing :hehe:

Bhai sahab,

US immigration is not giving away free luddoos to everybody, but I am not going to go into the process that nadra has adopted for offering these document online, that’s a whole separate discussion. But if the idea behind offering online service is to make the process more convenient, then a put a little bit more effort into it instead of this half baked attempt. I mean, this service is the front face of nadra to the rest of the world. Typos, lack of explanation, non-existing email addresses etc – these may be acceptable on a small company’s intranet site but not for a service being offered at international level. You may think I am being too picky. I am merely pointing to the deficiencies of the existing system.

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

Which brings to attention a new question
Would the NICOP number change if the country of residence changes
or one NICOP number is valid for ever

Hey, I got my NICOP and so did many others I know. Last time I checked, the "rest of the world" wasn't keen enough to apply for Pakistani immigration. So the service is the front face of nadra to us pakistanis and the minority non-paki folks who happend to have a paki spouse and an utmost desire to get a NICOP. The bottom line is, its 1000000000 times better to apply online using NADRA site then to deal with the idiots in Pakistani Embassies in the U.S. I am sure most here can relate.

You don't need a new NICOP if you move from one foreign country to another. You are still an "Overseas Pakistani." They don't have a NICOP for U.S residents, one for UAE folks and so on.

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

^ Correct

Today I took a day off and went to Toronto to get this paperwork under control
The info on their website ( Diplomatic Mission of Pakistan in Canada ) is outdated and total Bee SSSS (BS). It gives you a long list of documents and requirements, that scare the shytee out of you.

The guy just grabbed all the papers - then returned 80% of them to me
just kept the new born’s registration etc and told me that his passport will be ready in 10 days, And I had no clue that I would end up getting a new passport for him :smack: all I had wanted was to get him registered as a Pakistani and have his name entered in his mom’s passport, anyway whos complaining

the endorsement and the passport renewal cases were all rejected - no old booklets are going to be renewed anymore and new passports (machine readable) will be issued as the old ones expire.

For the new machine passports - no requirements :halo:
Just show up at the consulate with your nicop (even if its expired :hayaa: )
New passport ready in 3 weeks
Urgent service available too - for $175

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

asif, successful transactions for some people does not wipe off all the ills of the overall process. I guess if you were in the shoes of those who paid the money and then received no response whatsoever as to what happened to the application and spent time calling etc and got frustrated then you might have understood.

Even a single applicant not able to receive status and or call or connect is BAD ENOUGH. Don’t tell us that just because 7 or 8 people you know got their sh!t done in timely manner it’s all hunky dory.

Never said it was hunky dory. It never is. I don’t know you and it might be rude but I want to say you haven’t made a real effort. Just after my last post, I tried online chat the other night on NADRA’s site and I was talking to a real person. Only if I had your full name, I would asked the status of your NICOP.

Oh and 12 NICOPS to be exact… they were all received on time.

What does the online status of the NICOP say? If it says Printed/Dispatched that means they have already sent it and it might have gotten lost in the mail.

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

asif, there is NO STATUS on online application. That's part of the reason. Secondly, most convenient for an oversea applicants is contact via email due to time zone differences and there is no email address on their site to send email to for status. When I use form# for search it comes back with "No records". It broken man. admit it.

I don't know what to admit here. Even almost a year after I got my NICOPs, I can still login to my profile on NADRA site and see all the completed forms with status showing "printed." Are you saying that you can't login to your profile?

Re: Online application for NICOP and POC

No, I'm saying that there is a search box on the front box for status and it does not bring back any records.

I believe in my profile it says submitted.

As for the admittance part this is what you should admit: "I, Asif2008, hereby admit that Nadra administration is made up of bunch of unreliable, inefficient, incredible bureaucratic idiots who should be chhitrol-o-fied in public on their naked butts with oil drenched size 10 leather shoe".

That's all I'm asking.

LOL. Can't happen cuz I don't know any Asif2008. Give me your full name and I promise I will find out whats going on. Hey it doesn't get any better than that.
