NADRA has recently started to accept online applications for NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis) and POC (Pakistan Origin Card). If you live in one of these countries you don’t need to go all the way to the Pakistani Embassy anymore to apply for your card. And you also don’t need to go to the embassy to collect the card either, because they deliver it to your home.
When I applied for my own POC in Vienna around 4 years ago, it took them 3 months to issue it and I had to visit the embassy a couple of times.
So I was hoping that this new system would be quicker, although I was a bit skeptical too. Now I have to admit:
I am truly impressed.
I submitted the application for my daughter’s POC online on 23rd March. On
8th April, ie just 2 1/2 weeks later, the card was delivered to our home address in Vienna by DHL.
hey guys, I need to apply pocs for this for myself and my daughter but there is a tricky bit in there: they say that the (scanned) forms should be attested by a person holding poc??? what is that supposed to mean? where I’m gonna find an attester who’s got poc?? wtf man??? this requirement doesn’t make any sense whatsover…why can’t they accept notary public??? how does one go about finding a poc attester in the middle of nowhere in dc somebody tell me
u have to have attestor's own poc no + signature , u could ask someone his poc no even on phone but for signature ?? hmmmmmmm, don't know better find someone -or- fax it to someone
Roman, if you are appying for POC then you dont need to attest it, this is only for NICOP
Attester: NICOP form has to be attested by any CNIC/NICOP holder. Blood Relative cannot attest the application form e.g. (Father cannot attest his son’s NICOP application form).
Required Documents for POC:
· Completed POC Application Form.
· 2 photographs (passport size).
· Money order or cashier's check for the fee ($100 for adults, $50 for minors), valid for 7 years.
· Copy of Foreign passport.
· At least 1 proof of Pakistani origin:
· Copy of Pakistani passport.
· Copy of National ID Card (NIC / CNIC / NICOP).
· Proof of property owned in Pakistan
· Proof of relationship with a Pakistani; e.g. (Marriage or Birth Certificate), along with the relative's Pakistani passport or NIC / CNIC / NICOP.
NADRA has been doing online NICOP and POC applications for about two years. I had gotten one for my dad exactly 19 months ago. Was a very smooth process and his NIPOC card was delived at our home in US within a month.

Cool. I never knew that. I just stumbled across it, when I went to NADRA's website after the birth of my daughter to see whether there are any new procedures for the POC application.
I’ve started filling out our applications. The good thing is that you don’t have to complete the application right away as it saves it and you can log back later and start where you left from–the bad thing is that this is not explicit in their user interface…they should create an additional button on the site with some label like “Save for Later…”
The other thing I didn’t like about the whole process is the declaration of religion. It shouldn’t be anyone’s business what religion someone belongs. It’s a friggin’ travel document not nikah-nama third thing is the thumb print. do you have any idea how hard it is to get thurmb print on a piece of paper? and for to what use? I didn’t get that requirement either.
besides that everything looks good so far. hopefully it will be a seamless process like people are saying it is. :k:
Umer, this is not even passport--it's kinda replacement for visa + some extra benefits like buying property.
Anyway. I submitted our application last night. So far I'm pleased with the system. It had saved my partially completed application and let me come back to it whenever I had the documentation available. But Pak gov gotta get over some of the stupidities--namely the bit about requiring one to anounce his/her religion and for people who are married, requiring them to upload copy of their marriage certificate. It is SOOOOOOOOOOO NOT any government's business to sniff around the visitors if they are married and have documentation + what religion they belong to. ullu kay pathay.
