Re: One piece of advice....

omg i just remembered this crucial detail. make sure whatever salon ur getting ready at, they put a double faced tape or sticker on ur forehead to stick the tikka otherwise it will keep moving and annoying you specially during the photoshoot. i just wanted to grab mine and throw it away, it was so annoying and it wouldnt stick with regular scotch tape.

Re: One piece of advice....

so,do they have these stickers at the parlour..? Or need to let them know at the time of booking.

Re: One piece of advice....

^ Take your own! It's good for keeping your neckline in place as well.

Re: One piece of advice....

UHU tube is the best to stick tika and jhoomers :D

Re: One piece of advice....

what??? seriously? i've never heard of this sticking your tika on thing, but dang, that would have been useful!

Re: One piece of advice....

once upon a time, they used the chewing gum to stick the tika on your forehead.. now imagine taking off the tika infront of your husband... embarassing :D

I had that glue thing and it sat there just fine and came out nicely later it was stuck in my hair instead and that took forever to come out!!!

Re: One piece of advice....

^ my makeup artist GLUED it onto my forehead, it did wonders (as i usually hate tikkas) but then i had a few pimples the week after...oh wel.

Re: One piece of advice....

^^Yeah if u have sensitive skin DO NOT GLUE IT!!

Re: One piece of advice....

i didnt have glue on, instead they placed this thick piece of white cardboard like thing that was basically a double faced tape and the tikka wasnt misplaced the entire night on the baraat. however, on the valima it was very upsetting when the tikka would sway left or right during the photo session.

Re: One piece of advice....

my makejpu artist had this tape thingie but i didnt use it. i dont even know why he had it cuz hes not desi! lol

Re: One piece of advice....

^tiaras, necklaces, who knows

Re: One piece of advice....

^ to tape strapless gowns in place

Many "artists" in Pakistan use eyelash glue =) and chewing gum is the next best option (yuck)

Re: One piece of advice....

^ yeh Duo glue (mac have a good one)

Re: One piece of advice....

i used to use blue tack, which is used to put up posters :)

TOP TIPS FOR NEW BRIDES FROM AN EX-BRIDE ..lol

1) If you are an indecisive person and are in contact with ur future husband ask him his opinions on what you should wear as he is the one whos opinion matters the most

2) Once uve picked a dress just go with it..its not the dress that will make u look good its you that will make the dress look good..

3) Before my wedding i thought if something didnt go my way it would ruin the whole thing..but thats the worst way to think if something doesnt go to plan just take it in ur stride and enjoy looknig forward to the future

4) Just because somethings cheap doesnt mean it looks cheap..

5) I forgot about my jewellery till my mehndi day..i got ready in the morning for bazaar and then my mum ws like u cant leave the house on ur mehndi day..some stupid tradition!!! so I had to pick my wedding jewellery when I got ready on the day of my barat..lol dnt leave everything lastminute like me!.and dnt rely on other ppl to remind u cause although I have 4 sisters no1 reminded me about my jewellery!!..cause they wer all busy sortin themselves out.

6) If you really want something desperately and have alwyas wanted it for your special day then fight for it!!..as an example i always wanted a white mercedez droppin to my wedding hall..but never got it :( cause i didnt make a big enough fuss!..and my mum said brides dnt go to their own weddings in flash cars..they have to arrive quietly and with "sharam" lol i ws like mum i lost my sharam a looooong time ago..hahaha..but i did fight to have a joint mehndi with my husband and we did..and it ws lovely :)

7) Music is so important to me and having my fav tunes playing on the day and havin the best walk in song created the best atmosphere.

8) Enjoy urself..i danced at my own mehndi for Gods sake!!

9) Splash out extra cash on decent photos because the whole world looks at ur photos afterwards!!

10) Have long lasting make up that is waterproof and carry a mirror to constantly check urself out!

11) Do NOT check out other guys on ur wedding..IT WILL NOT go down well with ur hubby..lol..as i quickly realised!!

12) Try to always please ur in laws even if u dnt liek them..it will mean ALOT to ur hubby and pelasing him makes Allah happy with you as a wife it is your responsibility to please him in every way..likewise for him to you.

Finally i am not an alim nor do I have the perfect marriage so by all means totally ignore my advice if you think its not any good!!
But I can tell you to work at ur marriage and InshAllah things can only get better..before u gt married u will probs underestimate how hard it is to keep ur marriage happy but with tolerance, trust and understanding everything should be just fine
:)

And pray to Allah that he blesses ur marriage with the sweetness of jannah and keeps u both steadfast in imaan and ibadat.
Ameen
