Noor Jehan.

Re: Noor Jehan.

' Muj se phele mohabat mere mehboob na manG '

That was probably her best performance.

Re: Noor Jehan.

no - my point is - it is human nature :)

Re: Noor Jehan.

Lata never stole anyone's song., Refusing to sing with or sing for anyone is everyone right.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Yaar at least I dont think I need to tell you about the rift developed between Lata and Burman in 1957, and Lata did not sing Burman's compositions again until 1962.. she had the monopoly those days - which means taking the work by hook or crook .... you know it all bas MaaNa nahii hai :)

Re: Noor Jehan.

:smack:

Focus on Noor Jehan jee, would you all :emmy:

Re: Noor Jehan.

I am strictly talking about stealing another person's popular song as Noor Jehan did that with Musarrat Nazir.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Authentic reference please - not this ' I have heard or A little bird told me ' yoke :)

Re: Noor Jehan.

I suggest you change the word ‘technically’ with ‘personally’.

I insist !

I would be considered mahaan idiot in the field of music if I say :

I don’t like Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, technically.

On hardcore musical grounds Both Noor Jahan and Nusrat Fateh Ali khan have no parallel, Period.

If I say that Rahat with a 35 years Riaz on classical music in his rucksack, can sing as good as Nusrat then I am lying. Rahat is a great singer with no match in billion, but nusrat was beyond the boundaries of our musical imagination. I am saying this after listening his 100s of tracks again and again and again.

On the basis of Sur, Raag , Lay, Taal, soze Noor Jahan and Nusrat invented many compositions.

Both signers sung very difficult songs in their era. And composed them too. Nusrat was a intrinsic composer, on the other hand Noor Jahan had a very high stander in composition of song presented to her for singing.

I can post loads of examples from her 50 years wide spread canvas of singing paradigm.

Please highlight the technical flaw in this Raag based melody.

One of noor Jahan’s ever green compositions. She composed the music of this poem written by Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabasum while sitting in Lahore radio station during 1965 war and sung the song there live.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Very well said.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but when the opinion is expressed as the fact than that is wrong. I could somewhat understand if its coming from someone with ground knowledge in music but when you don't know the a,b,c of music how can you call a legend in music as being technically not sound. That's very strange.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Just like i don't find Aishwariya pretty but if i say she's ugly, people are going to think i am mad :D. But i can ofcourse say that she is not attractive to me and that's fine.

Re: Noor Jehan.

i haven't heard her music but she seems to have led an interesting life. i read that she was once caught performing a very graphic act on yahya khan in his chambers. i think this was the book by the BBC's former pakistan correspondent owen bennett jones.

Re: Noor Jehan.

Well Said

No One can and no one can ever come closer to NFAK and his compositions …if u listen to him u just feel like others are kids infront of him …May Allah bless him he was and always will remain a true legend alongwith Madam Noor Jehan

Re: Noor Jehan.

My favorite song by Madam Noorjehan is a ghazal: "Raat pheli hai tere surmai aanchal ki tarah’.

Beautiful poetry by Kaleem Usmani and Madam sung it with amazing expertise.
