Instead of dividing people on ethnic lines and creating more waste (there is no guarantee that governance will improve) , it is better to spend the resources that would be wasted on a new layer of bureaucracy on the common man. Instead of enriching the big feudal lords the lot of the common man should be improved. Instead of dividing the creating we should unite the country. Nobody voted to be part of Seraiki, Baluchistan, Bahawalpur or Hazara but people voted to be part of Pakistan. It is only the failure of Pakistan to deliver that is playing into the hands of some vested interests that are pushing for more power to themselves. If the lot of the common man is improved then nobody will be raising guns against Pakistan.

The biggest issue we have is insincere leadership, and like arshad mentioned a good local government system to devolve the resources. There should be equitable distribution of resources within provinces otherwise there is no guarantee that creation of provinces will solve the problems.
Creation of provinces is not as easy as some people propagate it to be, first of all some mechanism needs to be established to divide the resources within provinces and the impact on other provinces as this will involve resource distribution (from federal pool), water and senate seats etc. Considering the precarious situation the country is in at the moment, I don't think this is a good time. It has a potential to further aggravate things. KPK and Balochistan are hotspots, can they be divided? MQM wants Sindh to be divided too, will Sindhi nationalists agree to that? It's a pandorras box.
The most important province at this point of time is fata, who no one talks about.

You like only province of Punjab type covering 55% of the population of the country , Better you merge Hazara in Lahore also , It has been a part of your Maharaja Lahore’s rule before and after assassination of Syed Ahmed Shaheed and others .

@ Ali bhai, Baluchistan's plight is not mainly due to corruption or insincere leadership, rather not giving them their rights and fair share of income coming from their resources. And foreign players also took advantage of it, hence the unrest.
Same is happening with Saraiki areas, being the agricultural hub of the country , thickly populated and still deprived will bear consequences. Pl, refer to my earlier post.

Let us look at Bahawalpur first . Qauid e Azam gave them a status of province and all present leader promised to restore it this year . The work which could not be completed by your Maharaja Lahore , you did that very sharply with the help of a Ghaddar , General Yahya

unfortunately in Pakistan we have used the creation of provinces as a political slogan. I do support the creation of seraiki province but I don't think any political party is serious in this regard. It will require a lot of changes in the constitution, and will result in realigning the resources of all the federating units. Hence it requires work in two spheres, provincial as well as national level. However creation of provinces alone would not solve the problem, the provinces should put in-place some mechanism to distribute resources equitably within their boundaries too.

As long as Pakistanis would start thinking themselves as Pakistani, and not Punjabi, Baloch, Pathan, Sindhi, Muhajir … and stop looking into progress and opportunities through tainted glasses, needing quotas, connections and favours to get jobs and promotions in their jobs, instead of relying on merit, equal opportunity, and hard work, Pakistan cannot have more provinces.

True, but question remains, who will do it rather if it had been done much earlier , the cries for saraiki and other provinces wouldn't have gotten stronger.

I agree with you, a lot of injustices have been done with seraiki areas. With sharifs ruling I don't see any difference to this. I didn't like musharraf but his local government system did take governance and infrastructure to even those areas which had always remained neglected.

That is exactly what I said, the majority party diverts the resources to the places it favors/likes for future gains. If we have smaller provinces, the diversion will be less, more areas will have chances of development.

Look at Bangla Desh & now Baluchistan
Bangladesh resulted as a result of ego of one man i.e Z.A. Bhutto who wanted power so much even at the expense of dividing the country. India played its part by supporting terrorism in East Pakistan. Lastly the plight of the common man was ignored. Same is happening in Baluchistan but by giving power to the masses at the grassroots level along with financial control will remove the alienation of the people there. Some feudal lords in the area are taking advantage of the situation and India again is up to mischief. We need to be wise before the event and not after.
