Although its important to have new provinces in the country, but it needs to be tackled with political maturity. The constitution needs to be amended, a lot of resources would be required to jump start the province. New provinces in Punjab would reduce the participation of other provinces in Senate and can also reduce their divisible pool from NFC Award which could further alienate the smaller provinces. The province which is most urgently needed is FATA and the federal government is dragging its feet on it. The way Seraiki province is being pushed is driven by politics (as compared to the interests of the people living in the region), which could create frictions in the only province which is somewhat peaceful at the moment, and all this for some seats which they may or may not win in the next elections. The timing of this issue is also very interesting with more than 50 % of the country already in civil war, economy at the weakest, is it the right time to push for new provinces? Talking of timing, for the government the elections are near too...

PMLN has its vote bank in North Punjab, shows non seriousness and nothing else. If 4 provinces are carved out from Punjab, that would mean (current) Punjab will have 56 % in Senate and the remaining provinces will have 14 % each.

Weren't people complaining that Punjabi is too big it should be broken up & when its about to happen they're complaining that it will get more representation? Punjab has 60% of the country's population...so what % of resources and representation should it get?

^ I believe the people who have been advocating for Punjab to be broken havent done the maths. f the other provinces are left as is, Punjab would benefit at the expense of smaller provinces as Senate seats as well as resources will be divided. As far as the water is concerned, at the moment Sindh has to contend with Punjab only then they will have to deal with 4-5 upstream provinces...go figure...
People's party is basically making this into a political gimmick, I dont think that they have done any serious homework on the issue. As far as the resources Punjab gets, it shouldnt be based upon population alone as that would mean that smaller provinces (with large land mass) like Balochistan will always remain deprived. The NFC award takes into account poverty and some other factors as well.

I personally think zardari has clean bowled pmln on this issue, not only he has again pit them against mqm and anp (with elections near and without any allies I don't see pmln in government after the next elections) but on the other hand they might get some brownie points from the region in the next elections, after all this is what they want.

You didn't said a word about Ik's silence on the issue , On new Medigate also , This is also his basic vote bank area . I see some deal through Malik Riaz . He should have some policy but his policy makers are also .... like him .

There are many Baluch tribes living in DG Khan and adjusant are but they are almost Saraiki speaking ,Only a few Baluchi speaking are residing there , and there are many students from Balochistan so thet think about it but it has no weight ,Just a wish of few people , Have a look Dera Ghazi khan - The Eastern Balochistan
Let’s come back to the issue of new provinces .

^ that has been tried before, in the shape of bd system. I think for the time being powers should be delegated to provinces with a good local body system should remove some grievances of the people.

The hype created by the government without planning shows the reckless and non serious attitude of the government. Before creating a political issue out of it the government should done their homework (which could have included constitution of a commission to go through the provinces that need to be created, check their viability, decided the boundaries and the constitutional amendments needed). It's pretty obvious to me that the government has used this issue as just another card.

This is not quaid's Pakistan anymore as per jiyalas. It is bhutto ka Pakistan. Because Quaid has met his creator long ago but 'Bhutto aaj bhi zinda hai'.
Main purpose of the government to create these shosha is to divide vote banks and win people over. Yes we need new administrative units (including bahawalpur) but it is NOTone of the the immediate concerns. Next government can handle these issues at its own leisure.
